Yeah, it should be a reflex as a dog owner. You see something, you don't know exactly how your dog will react, you put them on a leash. Then when you're sure it's over you can let them go.
the 2nd people were trying to do the same but the puppy wouldn't come, you see they put their other dog on a leash. this puppy wasn't being mean he just didn't understand, he was trying to play with the big dogs (horses)
I can’t believe some dog owners, if a dog doesn’t come to first recall it should be on a lead. Had so many jump out of a bush on hacks and not have an owner in sight! Rosie handled it so well! 💗
Puppies should be on long line before trusting offleash.... I let my young dog off leash but has a reliable recall. I hate when people let their dog off leash and let it run up to my older dog saying their friendly because my older dog isn't friendly with dogs he doesn't know.
My dog hates large animals and loves chickens, whenever he gets too far he looks over and waits or when we call him off he stops, waits for a second to analyze then comes back to us as quickly or slowly as he thinks he needs to.
Fr, dont let your dogs off without correct recall training. Simple as, they can get into all source of trouble for the dog and their owner. What if a puppy meets an aggressive dog, or animal? If they see a bird near a cliff? Chase a rabbit into a thorny bush? Get lost in a field? Run into a road? Screaming the dogs name over and over wont help, unless it's trained... Really sad to see people don't use correctional commands for their dogs like Focus or Wait. Glad rosie handled it so well!
I was thinking the same thing. Puppy needs more training before you let it off leash. I also just "love" people who's dog is running loose who go, "Don't worry, he's friendly!" as he's running up to me, barking and not looking all that friendly!
@@leslie2149 I "love" those people as well. Is ist so hard to just show some common sense? My late dog had a troublesome past and got very agitated and aggressive with other dogs she didn't know. So I put her on a leash whenever somebody new would show up with a dog in company. "Don't worry, he's friendly" - "Well mine is NOT!" The faces and the reaction were almost comical...
I used to work in a kennels and it's honestly crazy how little some owners will do when it comes to training their dogs. They seem to think dogs would naturally just KNOW what to do and often think their dog is naughty or mischievous, because it doesn't listen to them. It's very frustrating.
what I don’t get is why people in England haven’t figured that out yet. I have never been there but from videos I’ve seen (non equestrian ones too) it’s not uncommon at all to come across someone hacking. In the states you never see people trail riding along roads. It just puzzles me how many videos I see of UK riders getting terrorized by dogs, you would think more people would know if it’s so common to come across riders.
@@equinemollie Not just that, either - if they were to run up to an aggressive dog and get attacked, the aggressive dog would be blamed despite it being the other dog's fault. It happens so often :/.
I know, the one horse's ears are down that mean horse will kick dog real hard, dog could end up injury or killed. Horse have metal horseshoes, very painful! People responsibility to leash dogs to be safety sake!
I had a similar scenario a few weeks back. I was on my pony and her owner was hand walking another smaller pony through the woods. This collie-cross ran up and began barking and snarling (ponies took it like champs though). I shouted for the owner to come get their dog because we had horses and it took the owner of the dog a good 5 minutes to come get it. Two more dogs, also off-lead and of the same breed, came out of the bushes and also began barking and snarling. When the owner did finally show up, she only managed to get two to stop and the first one that showed up tried to follow us - she had very little control over it. If your dog doesn’t have good recall, it shouldn’t be off the lead.
people should deffo keep their dogs on a lead because what would happen if you where on a bridleway and you met someone with a dog - off lead - and it spooked the the horse, the horse bucked and went sraight to hospital. if that happened to me when i was riding , honest to god, id be furious. ive never been bucked of before it would be scary
what u are saying isn't wrong but people go to this kind of woods (far from city) hoping there's nobody so that they can let their dog go without a leash they CAN'T know there Is gonna be a horse, when I go to the National Park I don't expect to see a horse so I let my dog go and many time for many minute I don't even know where he is (we know he is not far he is scared to be abandoned). what I want to say is don't be angry at the owner or the dog because they want the dog to have a little of fun cause they can't see the future and can't know if there is gonna be a horse there is a possibility that the dog is barking at the horse because they think the horse is a menace to their owner this include the dog that are trained ONLY after all of this im not English so im sorry for my poor understanding of the language
Molly you did well to avoid any further mishap. Well done. I love watching your videos. I'm 63yrs old and seventeen years ago I had to say goodbye to riding and having horses due to a spinal disability. I really was upset and I miss it all so much. Watching your videos makes me feel like I'm riding again, especially as my hacks were very similar to yours. Thankyou so much for making a old woman happy. Bless you. Xxx
I trained my Holstein/ Westfalian cross to circle around, always keeping the dog in front and in full view. If needed we chase the dog.. as if it were a fox. You would be amazed how fast owners come running to put their dogs on the leash.
Some people just can’t control their dogs!!!! As a dog owner and an equestrian, I would never let my dog off especially in an open field where horses could be riding or without a recall! You handled this so well great job Mollie! So proud. Xoxo
Omg!! 😱 thats so scary! Im glad your okay! Your horse was a champ and so were you! You stayed so calm and still polite despite how bad it could have went!
Guys, I don't think this video was made so that we can bash the owners. That dog may have had an amazing recall in any other scenario but had never seen a horse before. I hope they took this experience as a learning opportunity and have their dog leashed and/or desensitize him to horses/ larger animals
Makes no difference what she is. People think their own dogs are cute/harmless like the rest of us should feel the same. I don't, keep bloody dogs away from other people!
@@geni2906 exactly. It's silly really. On a separate note my heart absolutely broke today. Got a cob colt transported with another that belongs to a friend and went up the field just now to see if they were okay and to also pop some feed down. It's their first night and was quite stormy earlier with hale etc. Anyway as we arrived I sorta noticed something wasn't right but not sure what. So did my usual 'talk to myself so the horses know I'm here' walk next to the fence then I see my weanling tangled in the fence! Galloping off and my friends is chocking on the wire! It was horrific. I've not done much with horses recently and today is basically my first day back so to speak...Well, definitely spooked me and them for sure. Not much I could do either as it's pitch black. My oh managed to remove all the electrical wire from my cob and put it aside but that was it. Checked for any damage best we could but they wouldn't stay still. They look balanced but damn my anxiety. Poor horses 💔
@@Shannon-nl1dz Oh you poor thing, what a shock. I'm so sorry. You handled it really well though. Let me know how they are. Try and get a good night's rest and go and check when it's safe tomorrow ,❤️
@@geni2906 thankyou. Thankfully they're okay. Not lame, no injuries as far as we can tell just nervous of the fences as you can imagine so we've decided to not put them up just yet. Although today we've just realised we've been thoroughly ripped off by the seller. She bought them for 450 and 400 and sold them to us for 1000 and 900...they're hh are all wrong...ages wrong on passports and/ contracts. Both were supposedly just 6mo but is actually 8mo. And hers to make 15hh+ and mine 14hh+ but now max 14.2 and 13.3hh🙈. They're literally just halter broken but that's pretty much it. They're troopers really. Sorry to keep moaning 😅..just forgot how much can go wrong with horse keeping i guess xx
Oh also they're INFESTED with round worm and mine somehow had 5 abscesses fairly recently on his upper front right leg that I only found out about today 🙈. Why for the love of God to people just use these magnificent animals as financial leverage and nothing more? Absolutely terrible. Poor babies 💔
A friend of mine is an equine vet in Northern California, who had to deal with the aftermath of a pitbull attack, that occurred on a county park trail, the horse suffered bites on its face, and head, and required a massive number of stitches, while it's rider was thrown, and severely injured, the dog was captured by its owner, who placed it into a black jeep, and fled the area, at last report neither the dog, it's owner, or the escape vehicle, had been found, the horse survived but was disfigured, and I believe that the rider also survived after a long recovery, the incident reminds us all to use the utmost caution when approaching free ranging dogs.
No it’s not alright! A dog that doesn’t have recall should not be allowed off leash! Can you imagine if this was a more easily frightened horse or a child on the horse and the rider got hurt? Tell those owners it’s not okay and to put their dog on the lead.
That little dog was actually kinda cute and I know it can be dangerous for horses and riders but the way Rosie held her ears forward when the dog was looking at her was so cute!
The little white one looked like a jack Russell.. They're hunting dogs with a high prey drive. She did good getting it on the leash. The black one looked like a spaniel, also a hunting dog with high prey drive. If a puppy as she claims it shouldn't be off leash until fully trained and has a perfect recall first time.
It's great to see how you both respect the environment and the people around you. Hi vis jackets too. Cars pulling over to let you pass is always a good blessing when you are on your new horse 'Rosie'. Sometimes drivers can be a tat bit inconsiderate.. Blessing or a curse? sometimes really helps a new horse to adjust. (if only the driver knew) Well done to you both for being safe and relaxed ( I just subscribed) You and Rosie make a good connection. Thank you
My pit was off his leash yesterday and there was a horse and a kid riding it so of course I called my pit and he sat down right beside me.Letting the horse go through without trouble. Don’t let dogs out of there leash without them knowing basic recall.
You handled that really well, I always get scared when there is a dog off leash, I remember when i was walking my dog and 3 dogs were off leash and attacked my dog my not going into detail but my dog had bad wounds on his neck and i got him to the vet and they gave me something to clean the wounds they also shaved where the cuts were to make it easier to clean.
this Go Pro is awesome .... I really had the feeling being on a horse again. Last time I was riding a horse, I was 13 and I really loved it. Great memories. Thank you.
People need to stop telling owners of loose dogs “it’s ok”. Instead let them know how selfish and dangerous their behavior is. Won’t change until they’re shamed and if needed charged
Your horse reacted beautifully, 2 years ago I went trail riding and these cow herders let their massive pit bulls and other dogs loose and they immediately came to all the horses 6 of us were riding and our horse had freaked out. Needless to say half the group fell off while their horse ran away for its dear life. Those dogs could’ve either injured me or other people who had fallen off or our horses, people are so irresponsible I swear. Your pony is absolutely precious and clearly trusts you very well. 💜
It's nice to see a courteous and responsible horse rider. Respectful of vehicles on the road... cars own the road, not horses. Horses and riders own the bridleways, not dogs and owners. Your horse is pretty amazing.
Well done for handling the dog situation , owners must be responsible for their dogs and train them properly before taking them off the lead especially in horse like territory. So important it can be very dangerous for both ……
That was very thoughtful of the first car to move aside and let you go past. I appreciate how the family made an effort to catch their puppy and also how, even though it was an inconvenience, you dismounted to protect your horse. Wish everyone was always this considerate when sharing trails. I don't know your area well enough to know if the dog owners should have known better than to leave their puppy off leash. In general, it's never a good idea to leave a dog off leash on a public trail/path.
I LOVE how your camera shows where you are going not just horse ears. I mean I love horse ears too, but I love seeing the countryside and where you are headed.
I think most dogs in general should be leashed unless they have perfect recall. They are putting horses, themselves, and owners at risk and it’s honestly just worth it to leash them and avoid all problems.
I just watched a video of a dog and horse owner yelling at each other over a similar situation (probably why TH-cam brought me here), and I thought everyone handled this situation beautifully. The dog owner repeatedly apologized and actively tried to catch the dog (come on, puppies are puppies and they obviously didn’t expect this situation), while the horse owner warned of the danger and got off the horse to help de-escalate the situation. The dog owner learned that the their puppy needs controlled better around horses, and the horse got a valuable lesson in staying calm around dogs and trusting its rider, no one was bit or kicked, and no one felt the need to call the police on each other. Very refreshing to watch, though I’m sure it was a tense and scary situation for everyone involved. Thank you for being polite and sensible even though you weren’t at fault.
Dog owners should keep their animals under control at all times is how I feel about. I had a blue Heeler that would go with me while riding my horse in the woods. If other horses were approached all I had to say to her was “stay with me” and she would not even look at the other horses and would be right next to my horse or behind. Other riders would sometimes chastise me for having a dog on the trail. I didn’t care because my dog was no problem. They were the problem. Their anxiety would cause their own horse to booger. A deer could jump out and she would stay right with me on cue. Rare dog. She died some years back and I don’t think I’ll ever have another one as good as she was.
It’s great that you knew exactly what to do when this happened and Rosie handled it really well, watching stuff like this really helps new riders like me on knowing how to deal with these situations! :) Also for anyone else that is reading this if you don’t mind answering, what age did you start riding at? And have a nice day! :D
Nice to see a lot of people being responsible with their dogs and holding them/putting them on the leash when you passed. Though that last one could do with a bit more recall training. I know its only a puppy and it's excited but especially if there's horses on that trail, I'd never let my puppy off leash unless I was confident that she'd come back when called
Thank goodness all worked out for you. In our area, too many people are everywhere, and do not have manners when it comes to dealing with riders etc. A number of years ago, I was riding and a loose neighborhood dog chased us- we were doing okay, until the dog grabbed my horse's leg and would not let go. I managed to stay on, but we went down- I feel lucky that my horse was not hurt, but I was. My horse fell on me and I broke my leg- she managed to get loose and ran for home, and I walked back with a broken leg, believe it or not. It was terrible.I had been riding alone and in the mountains, so I had no choice. I 've also had people rev engines and honk horns..... You did a great job- and yes, horses do not forget these things.
I love watching these videos and living vicariously through you 😍 going on a hack like this is all I want. I'm really hoping that in the next few years I can visit England and get the chance to do something similar. By the way, you handled that dog situation very well.
Can someone tell me why dog owners in this situation always hover around the dog but never actually just PICK IT UP. Like if my dog wasn't heeling and doing all that, right time to scoop it up and walk away right??
The puppy may have good recall but if the puppy had never seen a horse you don’t know how any dog or animal would react to another. Your horse did very well though :)
“Why am I so bad at getting on” GURL I feel you 😭😭 it’s my least favourite part of the lesson, I nearly fell off the other week trying to get on XD, it’s just so awkward for me I hate it 🤣
I have to use a mounting block all the time due to health issues...but even then I sometimes struggle. I had my extra sticky jods on one day.. No spring left in my feet and my leg got stuck on the cantle. 😂 My mother started laughing at me, luckily my horse is trained to wait until I tell him he can move so I had to use both hands to haul my leg down.. Took him to the top step (about 4ft) and just step over onto him. 😂
Getting chased by a dog is how I galloped for the first time... We where at a trail riding place and I have very little riding experience. Enough to be ok with a slow trot following someone but no clue about leg cues or anything more than I could use the reins to steer. I fought with my barn sour horse the entire way down the trail to the beach and then a few minutes after we got to the beach some idiots off leash dog decided my horse looked like a really fun toy. My horse bolted full out. That was when I discovered I'm decent at keeping my seat during surprises, though the pommel of the western saddle I was in also did wonders.
Gosh I had 2 greyhounds jump on my horse on a trail. They weren’t trying to hurt her, but they were jumping all over her. ‘They’Re UsUaLLy fiNe wiTH hOrsEs’.
"She's only a puppy" that's not a freaking excuse! If your dog doesn't know recall, don't let him/her off lead. My dog had good reliable recall at 6 months old due to daily consistent recall training on the long lead in different places, different scenarios, yes also around horses. Until she did it perfect on the long lead than gradually build up until she can go off lead. But I always recall her when we pass someone else. Not just horses but other dogs, people... It's called manners. Can't believe these kind of dog owners. Not only could you have been injured but the horse or the dog could have been killed/inured too. Very irresponsible behavior on their part.
Fair play they were sorry and more likely dog lost focused. I have many rude owners like this in my forest. My husky is scared of horses and i am working on her to be ok with them. Rosie did amazing job for being a baby, she had a great learning experience from this positive reinforcement
I like how they were trying to grab the pup and being kind to you. But you should always have a leash on your dog. On a trail right by are house theres these dog that were not on a leash, amd they ran down to our property and killed our chickens
The best solution to dogs running up on a horse is to turn the horse around and chase down the dog/ s. Worked for me every time. The dogs don't expect it. Green horses gain confidence and trust, and more seasoned horses come to relish the "game." I especially like to do it when owners are being tools about controlling their dogs. Once had some jerk actually encouraging his dog to go after the horses. He didn't find it so funny when we did that and sent his dog running, yelping like a whipped pup with its tail between its legs.
I totally agree the dogs will get scared but in one vid I saw a dog bring its mates after a person did the same thing and it literally looked like the owner DIDN'T CARE they also bite the horse and made it distress 😢
I’m sorry that that happened. I’ve owned dogs my whole life, and whenever we went on trails that could have bikes, or horses, I would always have my dogs on a leash, because you never know when you gotta call them back. I always worked on recall with my dogs, but there is always that one time where they won’t listen, so I always had them on a long leash so that they were able to run, but I could call them back, or keep them off of the trail, in case of a fast bike, or a horse. We did socialize the dogs with horses tho, since my friend had horses and we always hung out at her place. Your horses reacted really well. At least the puppy didn’t go and try to bite the hind legs, and decided to just bark at them.
i think you are completely right, our older dog has great recall and our puppy is it also learning very well. But even the dog have sometimes hard times listening, so thats why i leash them up whenever i see a horse or a other dog.
it really is as if people have absolutely no clue what a tons worth of horse can do to their dog if the animal spooks. read awful stories the last few years of horses spooking, dumping rider, getting chased by dog which ends up in panicked horse causing a road accident. as dog owners i think people do understand that accidents can happen but harm can be prevented if you catch your dog quickly rather than the stupid tootling along half a mile away from the dog which more often than not seems to happen. good for rosie for not getting stressed about it.
As a dog owner leaving a dog without a leash and no basic recall is dangerous, for the horse too. The dog can just run off or maybe go under a car you never know! So before you let your dog walk without a leash make it learn basic recalls
Why would the dog be loose in the first place? Why should it be loose at all? I’m not from the UK or wherever this was filmed, so I’m not as familiar with bridle path rules. However, the rules on trails and paths where I’m from say dogs are not allowed to be off leash. It’s an obligation to other people using the same trail or path to keep pets leashed so everyone can enjoy and use it without having problems.
i hate when people are just so ignorant and wont listen to equestrians calls to get thier dogs under control. And they should KNOW how thier dogs/dog acts around other animals and NOT let thier dog off leash.Bit i love how she was trying to get her dog bacl and kept apologising, bless her
Eh im sure not everyone agrees with me on this but ehm can i just ask, isnt youre horse to young to be already ridden? Like their back should be still growing a bit right?
She was backed at 3 1/2 like almost all horses in Ireland, so I got her and I did some hacking (like in this video) and then I think about 2 weeks after this she was turned away until she was 4, to start properly backing & schooling. Backing at 3 is absolutely fine as long as you only hack and do very light work!
At first I thought the owner of the dog wouldn’t care so much, but was surprising extremely careful and nice. I’m not saying not a lot of people are nice i’m just saying you dont find a lot of people who care that much anymore 😭
What good respectful car drivers you have there. dogs not trained on recall shd b on a leash, no exceptions.....no need to use steps etc to get onto a tall horse if u have no spring, just lower the stirrup until u get on; quick n simple.
My puppy (8mo now), One day (right before the 6 month mark) she decided to ignore my recall. Went across the road and chased down a jogger. She has lost her off leash privileges ever since. Don't really know what went over her that day but it only took 1 incident for me to say "if you're too young for recall but old enough to run away from me, perhaps it's not time to be off-lead yet" since then she hasn't been off leash. But I did find a good alternative for when we're in an open space. There's training leashes that come in 10-50ft. OR you can take 2 or 3 regular leashes and hook them together for practically the same effect. ❤ Stay safe! ❤
I will never complain about having to trailer to ride in the mountains again. Planning a thought out ride in the UK seems kinda like a stressful nightmare.
The dog owner is extremely lucky the horse didn't kill the dog in self defense. The hooves and teeth are weapons. A pair of aggressive Rhodesian ridgebacks were turned into corral dust by mares defending a foal. One was tossed into the air and drop-kicked over the corral fence, The other was stomped into a pulp inside the corral.
What I usually do with these people is to constantly turn to face the dog so that they never get behind the horse, kinda scares the dogs off. My favourite response I ever saw from a fellow rider was this 80 year old woman aggressively yelling at this dog, poor thing was so confused it just stopped dead. Her connemara barely even reacted to her, absolutely amazing wee pony
"I'm sorry she's only a puppy" "I'm sorry but your puppy will be dead if my horse kicks it" that's what i'd say because it's true, horse was very well behaved but dog owners need to be careful x
I was nearly killed this way a year ago. Ended up with 3 fractured ribs and left lung contusion. Cracked my helmet and was knocked completely unconscious. The dog I ran into was more aggressive in the approach, but I held my breath during this video. So glad all ended well in this case!
I’ve actually had a couple times where my horses have kicked dogs. Where I live the dogs tend to be aggressive and it’s the same dog that gets out every time and bites my horses. Doesn’t know when to stop. I’ve talked to the owner about it because one time the bit got infected and costed atleast 500 to treat properly and still she refuses to “imprison” her dogs, that’s what she calls it
Where I board we have to worry about deer and vultures flying out of corn/trees since we are on 406 acres. The most noise we get it from the gun range that is close by or the tractors at the barn. My Standardbred used to pull carts for the Amish after he finished racing but I am thinking about driving him myself soon.
I understand I’m a few years late. My dog a English Bulldog, used to not come to recall first time. We’d let him off leash on a *empty* field.Once he’d learnt to come back after two calls at the max we’d walk him in forests areas. We leash the our dog whenever we see things that set him off e.g: Bikes, horses and roads. We try not to bother horse riders when they are on mount even when dismount. We live by cattle and every time we walk past my dog is not fazed. We hope we’ll train him enough so we can have him off leash by the end of this year.
It's crazy people just let them off lead I have a dog and she's a puppy she's 10 months old but I never let her off lead unless it's in a feild we've hired all the other time she stays on the long line and she has better recall than that dog she's not perfect at it so I she stays on the long line till she is
Im a Florida cowboy we work cows with dogs. The dogs ride in the stock trailer with the horses. If a aggressive dogs goes at my horse from behind my horse kicks the dog.Get your horse used to dogs and they wont run from them.
I am not sure if this is true ,but my riding school said that you're not allowed to ride a horse which is under the age of 4. After all its a great video.
I mean in racing they back & ride horses from age 2 onwards which is too young! Most people back horses at about 3 1/2 so they can get used to a saddle & the feel of a rider young and start getting used to the world by hacking. Then I turned Rosie away until she was 4 to let her mature and then started proper work!
if a dog charges after your horse, turn the horse to the dog and walk slowly towards them. If the dog goes side ways or to the back, turn the horse to the dog again and walk towards the dog. Untill the dog knows the hosre is not a prey (or the owner gets their dog) Most of the times the dogs are young and still have to learn. This is one way you can help with this.
I really love how the first people retrited their dog and put a leash on him/her after they saw horses. this is what a real person should do
Yeah, it should be a reflex as a dog owner. You see something, you don't know exactly how your dog will react, you put them on a leash. Then when you're sure it's over you can let them go.
It was especially nice and responsible to see even though the first dog clearly had good recall
My mum would do the same. as she always says, it’s a dog, it’s unpredictable.
the 2nd people were trying to do the same but the puppy wouldn't come, you see they put their other dog on a leash. this puppy wasn't being mean he just didn't understand, he was trying to play with the big dogs (horses)
If you watch again, it was actually the 2nd dog walker that put the dog on a leash and the third dog ran up to them❤

I agree
Look how the dog who was off lead already had a strong recall and the owner STILL put her dog on a lead. She's a great responsible owner
If your dog doesn’t have good recall, it shouldn’t be off the lead.
time to carry bear spray...
people should deffo keep their dogs on a lead because what would happen if you where on a bridleway and you met someone with a dog - off lead - and it spooked the the horse, the horse bucked and went sraight to hospital. if that happened to me when i was riding , honest to god, id be furious. ive never been bucked of before it would be scary
Fr that is a period
Take a lunging whip with you and give the dogs a sting.
what u are saying isn't wrong but people go to this kind of woods (far from city) hoping there's nobody so that they can let their dog go without a leash they CAN'T know there Is gonna be a horse, when I go to the National Park I don't expect to see a horse so I let my dog go and many time for many minute I don't even know where he is (we know he is not far he is scared to be abandoned).
what I want to say is don't be angry at the owner or the dog because they want the dog to have a little of fun cause they can't see the future and can't know if there is gonna be a horse
there is a possibility that the dog is barking at the horse because they think the horse is a menace to their owner
this include the dog that are trained ONLY
after all of this im not English so im sorry for my poor understanding of the language
Do you have any video examples how to teach this?
I love this
Some people just can’t control their dogs!!!! As a dog owner and an equestrian, I would never let my dog off especially in an open field where horses could be riding or without a recall! You handled this so well great job Mollie! So proud. Xoxo
I had an older gelding that was wonderful at training off leash uncontrollable dogs. He wouldn't move till they were close enough to strike them.
Omg!! 😱 thats so scary! Im glad your okay! Your horse was a champ and so were you! You stayed so calm and still polite despite how bad it could have went!
thank you!
Guys, I don't think this video was made so that we can bash the owners. That dog may have had an amazing recall in any other scenario but had never seen a horse before. I hope they took this experience as a learning opportunity and have their dog leashed and/or desensitize him to horses/ larger animals
The "I'm so sorry, she's only a puppy"..yeh perhaps keep her on the lead a bit more till she actually respects you 😂
Makes no difference what she is.
And at 8mo I can only manage to catch mine but it takes about 300g of pony nuts to get there 🤦♀️. Hers is impossible at this moment in time.
Nightmare. But we'll give them good homes regardless.
Those horses look absolutely stunning, and I love your channel. Keep it up! ♡
thank you!
No it’s not alright! A dog that doesn’t have recall should not be allowed off leash! Can you imagine if this was a more easily frightened horse or a child on the horse and the rider got hurt? Tell those owners it’s not okay and to put their dog on the lead.
rosie is such a mature little pony for her age!
You are so polite. I felt bad for you when they took so long to catch their dog. Well done.
@@Kat-mu8wq This, the dogs don't know whether to play or not, and when the horse doesn't respond to play, they go into hunting drive.
It's great to see how you both respect the environment and the people around you. Hi vis jackets too. Don’t let dogs out of there leash without them knowing basic recall.
Some people shouldn't own dogs
@@briannahernandez6627who? The pit owner or the puppy owner?
You handled that really well, I always get scared when there is a dog off leash, I remember when i was walking my dog and 3 dogs were off leash and attacked my dog my not going into detail but my dog had bad wounds on his neck and i got him to the vet and they gave me something to clean the wounds they also shaved where the cuts were to make it easier to clean.
Your quiet calmness is just wonderful, so good for your horse.
this Go Pro is awesome .... I really had the feeling being on a horse again. Last time I was riding a horse, I was 13 and I really loved it. Great memories. Thank you.
I love listening to the sound of horses hooves and I have no idea why xx😂❤
For a three year old? That's wonderfully done. Very good girl, and very good rider. :]
In general, it's never a good idea to leave a dog off leash on a public trail/path.
they need to keep dogs on a lead even around baby horses like Rosie I love washing ur vids they make my cos today I have had a bad day 💕💕
I once rode a bicycle from Miami to Seattle. I got chased by 23 dogs - I only counted the serious attacks.
I LOVE how your camera shows where you are going not just horse ears. I mean I love horse ears too, but I love seeing the countryside and where you are headed.
The horse’s clack sounds from the hooves sounded amazing but the dog should have been on a leash the people before were being very kind
Fantastic job helping young one through such a tense scenario! You're Great!
thank you!
I don't know why the sound of hoofbeats relaxes me so much when I've only ever ridden a pony when I was really young. Always loved horses, though.
For a young horse that was remarkable. Well done x
Some people need to be more responsible with their dogs and other pets. You, your horse, or the dog could have gotten very injured.
Also for anyone else that is reading this if you don’t mind answering, what age did you start riding at?
And have a nice day! :D
Rosie is such a BEAUTIFUL horse, love that wild type coloration she's got! well handled!
My anxiety peaking when she led the horse onto the floor with very big sticks on it😅
That dog was only a puppy that wanted to play gladly but its good to see how ur horse stayed so calm that was a good training for the two of you 😁
Ya but must use leash till the puppy dog is training well!
The puppy may have good recall but if the puppy had never seen a horse you don’t know how any dog or animal would react to another. Your horse did very well though :)
So cool - Makes you feel like you're on the ride - thank you!
People who cannot control their dogs should not have them off the leash. Period.
“Why am I so bad at getting on” GURL I feel you 😭😭 it’s my least favourite part of the lesson, I nearly fell off the other week trying to get on XD, it’s just so awkward for me I hate it 🤣
Help this is so reallll
(off topic)the trying to avoid tree branches and not hit your head on them was so real xD
No one knows how to take care of that dog except for me❤
Anyone come like not that person?
Gosh I had 2 greyhounds jump on my horse on a trail. They weren’t trying to hurt her, but they were jumping all over her.

Yes!!!
What a lovely young horse and rider! Well done both of you.
thank you!!
Uh oh! Can’t wait to watch!
These guys had no control over their dog. Pretty scary to think that people just commonly do this, it could be very dangerous.
Can we take a minute and forget the dog, because The hooves on the pavement tho ❤❤
They do very good keeping there horses calm
Fair play they were sorry and more likely dog lost focused. I have many rude owners like this in my forest. My husky is scared of horses and i am working on her to be ok with them. Rosie did amazing job for being a baby, she had a great learning experience from this positive reinforcement
Very well done! You stayed calm and jumped off just in case. Your horse did really well also!
Good idea
I totally agree the dogs will get scared but in one vid I saw a dog bring its mates after a person did the same thing and it literally looked like the owner DIDN'T CARE they also bite the horse and made it distress 😢
Wow she’s a SAINT that’s a good horse you got! And only 3!
And they should KNOW how thier dogs/dog acts around other animals and NOT let thier dog off leash.Bit i love how she was trying to get her dog bacl and kept apologising, bless her
The amount of people whose excuse is "he/she is only a puppy." Don't let any dog off lead if it hasn't learned recall. 🤦♀️
Eh im sure not everyone agrees with me on this but ehm can i just ask, isnt youre horse to young to be already ridden? Like their back should be still growing a bit right?
Yep. U should only really be doing ground work at 3 and only start breaking in at 4
She was backed at 3 1/2 like almost all horses in Ireland, so I got her and I did some hacking (like in this video) and then I think about 2 weeks after this she was turned away until she was 4, to start properly backing & schooling. Backing at 3 is absolutely fine as long as you only hack and do very light work!
@@equinemollie just because its "almost all horses in ireland" doesnt make it right exactly.
Well the horse is perfectly heal5hy@xUnholySinx
i am so impressed by your kindness to these people. i would be yelling 😂
I COULD NEVER! I HAVE A PHOBIA OF DOGS!
"I'm sorry she's only a puppy"
"I'm sorry but your puppy will be dead if my horse kicks it" that's what i'd say because it's true, horse was very well behaved but dog owners need to be careful x
She did Remarkably Well for a young one on her first ride out. Very good!
My dog off lead if he saw something he’d be off, guess what he’s never off lead and never will be 😊
I was nearly killed this way a year ago. Ended up with 3 fractured ribs and left lung contusion. Cracked my helmet and was knocked completely unconscious. The dog I ran into was more aggressive in the approach, but I held my breath during this video. So glad all ended well in this case!
The clank and clonk kind of sound like water droplets and it’s actually relaxing😊
Well done Mollie you both did very well!
thank you!
Everytime me and my family see someone walking in the distance we also put leach on him, so not just bc of a horse but basically just anyone
Then I turned Rosie away until she was 4 to let her mature and then started proper work!
the asmr at the start....
if a dog charges after your horse, turn the horse to the dog and walk slowly towards them. If the dog goes side ways or to the back, turn the horse to the dog again and walk towards the dog. Untill the dog knows the hosre is not a prey (or the owner gets their dog) Most of the times the dogs are young and still have to learn. This is one way you can help with this.
