Glad you made it to Seattle. I go to the Silver Platters in Lynnwood several times a month, and get to the SoDo location from time to time. It is one of the few physical locations that actually has a fairly decent classical collection-mostly used.
Awesome purchases Mazzy ! This year I so far got a total of 3 titles only. Since I had to work, I usually buy a lot on line, but this year the Record Shops was not allowed to Sell on line till the following day. I ordered Rory Gallagher Live in San Diego 1974 from Discogs great price, then Saturday in the afternoon, I had 40 minutes before idea's Music and Books close for the day, I purchased Kenny Garrett - Sketches Of MD (Live At The Iridium Featuring Pharoah Sanders on Saturday & went back on Sunday and picked up the Art Pepper. Thanks for sharing your Purchases for April's record Store day 2022, looking forward to seeing your next video. Mahalo Ed
Was in Seattle yesterday. Kind of crowded. I like grunge and the music of the 90s. Something Kurt and I have in common. We are both Washingtonians. Aside from the 5am thing looked like a great day and a good haul. Thanks for taking us along!
Dig it. Was playing my old ,scratchy, and much loved 'Europe 72' today . Might treat myself to the re release. If it comes my way . Looks like great fun there over the pond! ✌
Great pickups Mazzy, I didn't go out this year because my Dad is here visiting. However, after scouring the net for indie stores selling online, I think I picked it up everything I was looking for. I truly do enjoy actually going in person for a lot of reasons so I did miss that but plan to go next year. I like the spirit and atmosphere of the day and seeing other like minded people celebrating our beloved hobby and keeping it alive. Happy RSD!!
‘My voice has broken’… Great vid Mazzy… I got to my RSD queue late as I had to drop Mrs Splintered off for an appointment Sat morning. I did get both Bill Evans lps among others… despite vowing not to. I was swayed by M. Framer’s review of the ‘ying and yang’ attributes that made them companion pieces. It’s a tiny record shop and has similar policy of only one copy per person, but also entry is to first come first served and dig through the racks yourself, with guidance from owner and assistants. Agree that it’s the meeting with fellow enthusiasts that makes the experience. Gutted to have missed out on Nick Cave… Laughed out loud at the ‘spinning the kids inheritance’ sticker.
Glad to see rocker dude is still keeping the faith! LOL. Video perfectly depicts what goes on while waiting in line. All I got was a couple packs of inner sleeves. Your Starbucks drinks are a lot more interesting than ours North of the 49th!
Hi! I also was out at RSD here in Switzerland. Got a few things: the Dead set, an Iggy record, thé Jorma Kaukonen record, thé replacements and Two Singles (alan Vega and Dieter Meier). I cannot complain: it was Most of the stuff I wanted. I got to meet ma Friends at „Sounds“ the local store. It was fun.
You do a great job of catching the vibe of #RSD. My favorite part of the day is meeting other folks addicted to the hobby. Grabbed that Art Pepper, but I really wanted The Judybats debut, Native Son, and I was able to snag that one. The Electronic Remixes were also a great pick up. Thanks for sharing your morning with us.
Hi Mazzy, You got some good ones ! I love Jonathan Richman. Sadly there are no record stores where I live besides Barnes and Noble, or FYE. Have fun ! Cindy
I think I'm great full that RSD exists. It's a celebration of those round spinning music makers. There's always something for everybody. ☮️n❤️ 2 everyone. From the land down under 🤩
hey mazzy....very very nice....chet baker...nick cave...sandy denny...art pepper...ramones (gabba gabba hey!).....all really great stuff.....(and i don't drink anymore, but that espresso martini sounded interesting..)....great video...great selections...glad you went...peace...rocky
Hi Norman, it was nice meeting you in line at Silver Platters today. I was in line at Easy Street several years ago for RSD when Jeff Ament stopped by to personally hand out Top Pot donuts to the people in line before they opened at 7 AM. I actually passed on the donut and people thought I was nuts to pass on donut handed out by Mr. Ament but as I said to the people in line with me, I didn't want to get sticky donut glaze all over a bunch of brand new RSD releases.
Thanks Mazz. I try to steer clear on RSD. Too many philistines, lol. Friday night I did go to a very cool 3.5 hour Talking Heads Tribute Band show with an awesome full horn section, 10 person band, incredible performance, almost better than the Heads themselves! called Start Making Sense. Everybody was dancing. It was so liberating to be enjoying great live music after the lockdown! Rock on!
Love it, especially the end with the seagulls and out of nowhere a cow! 😂 I waited in line as well, but you have to go in and pull your stuff yourself which I was glad, because if I was not browsing, I would never have found Wire: Not About to Die 77-78 demo release. I was originally told that was a UK only release for RSD. I even contacted RSD UK and basically got the same info. How in the world did it show up in a little shop in Ogden, Utah? Thankful it did. My score: • Art Pepper • Jazz Sabbath Vol. 2 • Electronic Remixes (Johnny F%ing Marr) • Joni Mitchell • Patti Smith • Wire
Mazzy, good to see you out and about. The audio for the end of you video would have worked for field recordings in the Experimental Vinyl Tag. Thanks, Chris
Brilliant video Mazzy, I especially loved the metalhead at the beginning, the bloke should have his own show. And that's what I like about RSD, the characters that you meet there, whilst in line. As you say, very civilised over there where you are. Prices over here in England seemed to be a tad higher this year, but there's still some good stuff around, as there is everyday in most record shops. Take it easy and thanks for showing what you bought.
Yeah you can make a fun day of it if you allow yourself to. I later went to Easy Street another store with a diner and a bar. It has more of a neighborhood feel and there were all sorts of people; families to. It was a fun party atmosphere ✌🏼
@@mazzysmusic Sounds tip-top. San Fran changed the world in 79 with Dead Kennedys. And 85 with Exodus. Nice Seattle seaguls sound effect. Nick Cave looks interesting. I already have an OG copy of the Jonathan Richman LP. Great one. I think I Love Hot Nights is on that one. No Gun Club or Voivod? Those would be my RSD picks this year
Picked up the the two Bill Evans releases myself and the Albert Ayler. After the disappointment of the Ronnie Scott's set, the audio on the two BE's is reassuringly excellent.
So funny to see all Americans waking up early, driving in a car to RSD. I just woke up at 8:30, got on my bike, biking in the sun to Delft centre at 9:30. Got my Art Pepper and some other in 2 stores before 10:15 and cycled back. So different.
Nice to drop in on the people of Seattle. I'd quite like it if we could go back there to the 1990s the best musical decade. Grunge, Manchester, Britpop and new dance explorations.
Your morning voice sounds like Bob Boilen from NPR, All Things Considered 😁 thanks for taking us out with you! Best part was the random conversations in line 😆
It wouldn't be RSD without your interview with the Motorhead fan. Looks like you picked up some great records. I did pick up the Art Pepper and the Jonathan Richman and the Nick Cave and Ramones box were under strong consideration. Happy listening.
Did you get the 157 Lp Beatles Box set with Mono coming out of one speaker and Stereo in the other, bargain at 7,432$. Scouse vinyl, so the actual records are missing. Nice touch.
Great video. Who was the other VC guy in your video? I didn’t know him. I snagged that Golden Smog as well. Love me some Gary Louris! Hope all is well ☘️
I only managed to get the Scott Walker one. The Art Pepper one had gone by the time that I got to the small Up North records shop in Chester UK they only had one,no great loss. Will you be viewing the Nick Cave film on 11/05/2022?
So all those seagulls were laughing at your RSD picks?? You done good, son. I didn’t even go; instead, I woke up at 7 and ordered the two Bowie EP’s from one seller on Discogs - YES, I took the lazy, expensive route (but I DID consolidate shipping, so what the hey?!). LOVED that audio collage at the end! Always the best videos, Mazzy. 👍
I want going to stand in RSD line until my local guy showed some incredible used albums that I really really really wanted so I did. I had a fun time goofing with people in line. Some of them know me as the record guy so as usual I had a good time.

For various reasons, I wasn't able to get to my local record stores this time around. I just looked on eBay to see what's available. The price gouging is abhorrent.
Of everything you showed, there is only one album that interests me. It's the Sandy Denny album. Among new jazz releases, there's one album that is very much worth getting regardless of RSD: John Coltrane A Love Supreme Live in Seattle. You may already have it, but I would recommend it to anyone who is a fan of that album; it's a different more expanded version of the suite with Pharoah Sanders. 🎷🎷🎷🎷🎷
@@mazzysmusic I could listen to those 4 (5) albums from that period all day, and have done........what a voice. Hi Mazzy. Ahh soooo, so this is why you left Patricks stream last night. You had to get up early for RSD. It was a pretty short appearance. LOL... I can't stand Starbucks Coffee. I have an organic coffee shop I visit regularly, it's expensive but this guy travels the world for his coffee beans and blends and cook's the beans himself in this huge machine. I've bought Jamaican Blue Mountain Coffee off him and some of that expensive Hawaiian coffee. He won't tell me what's in his blends but when I question him about it I get most of the beans in his blend right. Yeah I'm a coffee hound. Cheers.
I usually ignore the RSD. But randomly came across the announcement of Dana Gillespie's debut "Foolish Seasons" being re-issued as an RSD-exclusive, which I find even annoying: a 1968 Swinging London classic -originally only issued in the US- and unavailable on vinyl for 54 years, why not a regular issue, please? One-and-a-half-hour in the queue and lucky enough to grab the last copy.
Sweet pick up !!!!! I work at Cornell University and had to sit in on afew reunion meetings this morning grrrrrr . But my record store was nice enough to put aside a copy of the Grateful Dead and the Alice In Chains for me… They only would hold two so that’s what I picked and the rest I’ll have to go online and pick up… Take care and I hope you have a great weekend!!!! Hey where was coffee Dave this time?

The last time I got up at 5AM, I vomited. I guess you can say I'm not a morning person. I'm racking my brain to think of a any record which could be released on RSD that would get me down to the record shop at the crack of dawn...Nope, I don't think there is one.
Great video as usual👍 One of my true disappointments is my purchase of the Rolling Stones More Hot Rocks ....cleaned it when I got home....pressing is flat and quiet but LIFELESS🙉🙉🙉🙉🙉🙉 Why is it on glow in the dark vinyl....not sure if this is the reason....but why the gimmicks???? Did a needle drop with my original slightly scratched copy and this sadly is better than the $65 copy I picked up today😢 Starting to get fed up with these "Remastered" releases....going to stick with my slightly damaged OG copies because these clean reissues are garbage! My biggest regret is the album I tried to get was the Peter Tosh live reissue....and NO-ONE had it in the Springs had a copy....drove to 3 of my go to spots....UGH! Lastly went to pick up Def Leppard High and Dry and it is on picture dic.....WHY???? Certainly don't want to be a buzz kill on a great day for us in the vinyl community....but sadly think I purchased the wrong albums today!😫 Keep up the great work on your channel👍
Too bad about the Stones record . I have the 2 original Hot rocks lps on heavy Londons when they came out . I wouldn’t call them exactly quiet but they sound kick ass! I very rarely by reissues and I won’t buy anything new on colored vinyl. 70s Tosh records sound awesome.Enjoy!
Already scored the Joni ‘Blue Highlights’ on Discogs…absolutely no patience or interest in most rsd releases. There’s like one or two each year I’m ever interested in. Last year scored the Spacehog & UFO
Hey, it was great to see you out there as well! Yep, I have a complete love hate relationship with RSD. I queued up for 3 hours and got my Grateful Dead box and Ian Dury, 10 Turnips from the tip - and YES I met some really nice people and a lovely lady gave me a chair to sit on. Now thats serviceI Ironic Im buying records in the town Nick Cave lives in.
I don’t get it, you said you are not into the Jazz releases but you bought a few them. The Art Pepper and Bill Evan’s album is like cocktail jazz bop music, over hyped by people who are not really into jazz. You should have bought the Jazz Dispensary collection, that’s the good stuff. This year’s selection of titles stunk, America’s greatest hits, I think not.
Absolutely love record store day and today was so cool to queue with like minded decent folks and yes there's a lot of stuff to be avoided. Buy what you will listen to as always. Had to have a word with myself to put down the glow in the dark records (hot rocks). Nice Nick Cave, Art Pepper and Scott Walker records.
How many Homeless people did you have to step over to get in the front door? I lived there for twenty one years and frequented Silver Platters hundreds of times.Great store.Too bad its in the most bizarre sociological city in America, besides L.A.
This is precisely the problem. You are more concerned with RSD than homeless people and what to do about their lives.ITS NOT MY PROBLEM SEATTLELITES ABOUND.

Yeah! You are right. It's all a shitshow!
Mazzy, of course you know this means this means war! 😂
Ry Codder and Taj Mahal ?
The weather up there explains why they like that grunge shyte! 😀
No Doors LA Woman? That’s the only one I’m thinking about … but $90 not sure!
Not sure I want that. I’m hitting up another store soon after I eat 😵💫🤠
Check "The In Groove" record store online, there in Phoenix, AZ and they ship all over the World. He had a huge amount of that album.
Already scored the Joni ‘Blue Highlights’ on Discogs…absolutely no patience or interest in most rsd releases. There’s like one or two each year I’m ever interested in. Last year scored the Spacehog & UFO
Looks like you spent the big money at the record store Mazzy.
That was a great video Mazz! Dont understand all of the titles but need more education obviously! Funny all of the laughing gulls too! Creative!
No Bill Evans ? , What ?
I have so much great Bill Evans I find that I rarely pull these archive editions out to play 🤷🏻♂️
@@mazzysmusic My apologies then
You are "great collector", lucky Maslow)
Spinning my kids inheritance 😀😀😀
No Mingus?
Nope 🤷🏻♂️
@@mazzysmusic I get your point about the lost recordings. It's getting ridiculous at this point, but I am excited about the Mingus.
All I wanted was BelBivDevoe 😫
I’ll take the Dark Horse shirt !
It’s a friggen xl large but it was free.
Do not understand the over night drama. I had an appointment @ 11AM. Got what I need it.
12 months a year i awake at 3 am est maybe i am weird
I don’t get it, you said you are not into the Jazz releases but you bought a few them. The Art Pepper and Bill Evan’s album is like cocktail jazz bop music, over hyped by people who are not really into jazz. You should have bought the Jazz Dispensary collection, that’s the good stuff. This year’s selection of titles stunk, America’s greatest hits, I think not.
I bought two jazz albums 🎶
@@mazzysmusic dust collectors..😆
Hermosa eleccion 4😍 PORNTINDER.Uno de mejor siempre en mi corazónd mañas no se la.🌹🤩💜 Son unos de los mejores conciertos.
No Doors L.A Woman? surprised or not available?
Just decided I just like listening to that main album. I love outtakes I hate outtakes 🤷🏻♂️😵💫
San Francisco and Seattle bias but LA rules.
Over Bakersfield ?
Hopefully Chet doesn’t sing on that live set. The Jorma looks good.
How many Homeless people did you have to step over to get in the front door? I lived there for twenty one years and frequented Silver Platters hundreds of times.Great store.Too bad its in the most bizarre sociological city in America, besides L.A.
None. 🤷🏻♂️
This is precisely the problem. You are more concerned with RSD than homeless people and what to do about their lives.ITS NOT MY PROBLEM SEATTLELITES ABOUND.
Sorry to go on , but a young woman makes a martini for you first thing , i have a crush on her
That wasn’t for me I can’t drink in the morning but I had to capture it on video 🍸
@@mazzysmusic I am thinking i might be a reprobate then ( :
