I'm 70 and going to school at our wonderful community college. I love it. I took several math classes (calculus did me in, need to take it again), ceramics, and now piano for several semesters.
@@charlesasher I took the math classes for fun. Playing piano has been a lifelong dream, and I finally realized I could buy an electronic piano. I've been working with clay since I was 16. I'm thinking of taking Sign Language to polish my ASL skills. All for fun.
@@moomintroll8 I love you are doing it all for fun! Especially with the calculus - what a challenge! I also love you are learning piano, it is one of my favorite instruments to play. 🥰🎹
I know your mom is doing a great job taking care of you, and I just had a thought that I hope you're both getting some bonding time in as well as time away to do your own things! It's always fun to hear about your parent's stories and the things they've done/been through, gives us a better understanding of where we came from 😍🤗 I completely agree with the college thing, no matter how old you are, it's never too late to start something new! I went 10 years after high school, and got an extra bit of a grant because I was considered a "non-traditional student", something to look into if you qualify. Any little bit helps, plus the professors see you as more responsible and will give you extra fun stuff to do to learn about if you sign up for work study (if you're going in person of course) 👍💪You got this, and excellent idea to turn this into a story and share of course!
You are definitely right. I have been getting to know my mom on a level I never have and it’s beautiful. We have a healthy balance of having alone time, but also have been spending time together watching movies, working on puzzles, and taking drives around Austin. And I agree about the schooling, it is never too late and sometimes you get a better experience as a “non-traditional” student. I am looking into all the scholarships/grants I can to fund it.
@@charlesasher Awesome on the getting to know your mom! I'm glad I got to know mine before she passed, it was so wonderful to get to know her as another human instead of the "I'm the kid, you're the parent" type of relationship. I found out that being a non-traditional student has lots of perks for sure. And being we've already had work experience and life experience, I found myself being a mentor of sorts to the kids who really wanted to get the most from their education, it was wonderful!
I just completed a thousand piece puzzle but I ain't have an awesome mom like yrs to do it with. Really enjoy watching ur journey. Thx for sharing such a personal experience it's helping gain perspective on the procedure. I just started T Oct. 21 at 41. I'm going through a career change into IT as well. Hopefully I can get me a phallus somewhere in the near future.

That’s amazing! I love you’re doing that. Are you following a curriculum of study or just taking classes that sound interesting to you?
