Thank you for showing this. It’s so important to know all “history” and not just his-story. I was in DC for 3 months and never got to see this.
But “inherited”. How does someone “inherit” a human being?! 😢

George Washington Home is not in Washington DC, It's in Virginia about a 40-minute drive from DC.😂
George Washington home is built on a hilly foundation so if you want to visit and have trouble on that type of surface.
Call before you go to find out what kind of accommodation can be made for you.

Thinking about it again, I think you were totally right about how you find me first, but then when I went to your channel and binge-watched all the travel videos you had. Lol 😅😂

My great grandmothers first cousin is still living. He's a very old man now in his late 90's my 3rd cousin. His grandfather was a slave his name was William Mitchell. Born in 1840 He and his brother escaped slavery from Johnson County North Carolina which is the next to Raleigh North Carolina. His brother was killed during the escape and he fled to south eastern North Carolina to New Bern. The reason he didn't go north because the civil war had already started and the Union army had captured New Bern plus it was already a large about of free black people in this area before the war had started. Sorry I got off track but When I asked him about the stories his grandfather told him they were just terrible but some good times if you can understand that. William Mitchell is like my great great or great grandfather. He's Buried in the family cemetery in Cove City North Carolina.

You know what… thinking about the intro of this and knowing the conversation where we end up… I noticed that yes, there’s beautiful land everywhere and so many things to do, but you know who claimed all that land for themselves? Right, white men and their wives. Black men and women have had to claw and fight and “word hard” to get a piece of that for themselves.

We can never work hard enough in the eyes of entitlement and white privilege. I have a love hate relationship with the history of slavery. It’s our history and we need to know it but I don’t know if it makes me more angry or sad.

Preserve history at all costs. Some modern liberals want to erase historical figures. This will come back to haunt you.
