Has a zoom function on rear camera (with software update). The zoom mimics the perspective of your (old) rear mirror allowing your eyes to adjust over time to the difference.
FYI. It seems there is a LHD & a RHD version for the G900. I didn't know this until I received mine today (11 Jan 2023). All the marketing photos & images for it (G900) shows the front camera on the left side of the mirror when facing forward (driver's side for LHD markets). But the one I just received today has the front camera on the right side (ie. drivers side for our RHD market). Perhaps the reason I received a RHD specific version is because I bought mine from Amazon Australia. I certainly didn't request it, since I didn't know. I wonder if you're ordering from Australia but directly via WOLFBOX's website (based in the US), if you'll automatically get the RHD version?
mine was the RHD version too. I think these are all actually made in China & are shipped via Amazon Australia for our market. If you were buying via the WOLFBOX's website, you will probably need to select which side the camera was mounted on.
Hi Mat fantastic review of the wolfbox G600 camera very informative I might even go out and buy one for the work van thanks heaps for the video and I'll see you in the next one
Thanks Ed. Yes it looks good so far. 1 one was a flop but the 2nd unit working nicely. It gives great vision out the back & not a hard job to install either. 🤠
Hi I'm interested in buying one of these units. I have a small second hand MY14 Audi A1 hatch which has a small rear view mirror. I trying to work out if is big enough to support this 12inch screen. Could you tell me what the spacings are for the mounting straps please?
Update (11 Jan 2023) - I just received mine today and its been fitted. It took me 4 hours, and most of that time was taken up with having to route all the wires under the various trims for a clean tidy and OEM look finish. This included the wire for the rear camera. But it's currently only being powered by the accessory plug (fitted in my glovebox). Because the WOLFBOX hardwire kit I got with it, only came pre-wired with mini fuse taps, and my vehicle uses standard size fuses. I've ordered the correct size fuse tap to replace the ones in the hardwire kit, then will install. But so far G900 has exceeded my expectations. 👍
@@fatmanoverlanding How is it going now 4 weeks on ?. Any further issues have you had with your unit. We are about to release our 6 months review shortly on tis unit.
@@MKMTA It is going well. So far it has exceeded all my expectations. The 4k front & 2.5k rear video quality is phenomenal. And it's low light performance is fantastic. It leaves all my previous dash cams' video quality in the dust. It's chalk & cheese. So far it has only failed to power-up once. This was when I started my vehicle after being left for hours under the sun on a very hot day. The inside temp of my vehicle must have exceeded its maximum high operating temp range (70C). But after 2 mins of the A/C being on, the unit powered up, and worked normally, and has never happened again (touch wood). I've since hard wired it, & replaced the incl. 32GB MicroSD card with a 128GB card. I am also considering re-mounting the rear camera. While it is perfect as a rearview camera (it's mounted just above the number plate w/c is located at the middle of the tailgate), when in reverse camera mode, there is still an approx 1.5m left between what is shown in the screen & the rear bumper. It would be good to see the rear bumper when in reverse mode. Even its lowest digital adjustment position still does not show the rear bumper. The rear camera needs to be angled down slightly. But all in all, it's working brilliantly. I just hope it is durable. 🤞
Excellent review. I was also going to ask about that red blinking light... guess one could put a small bit of electrical tape over it. Can you get it to boot straight into rear camera view or do you have to select this each time you turn it on?
Hi pete. Yes, strait to rear view each time. It allows you set what setting you want it on as default & it boots up that way every time. The red blinking light isn't really an issue. you actually get use to it after a while :)
Hey mate. Brilliant review Being Australian ordered do they come with the camera on the right hand side of the mirror? Looks like overseas ones are left hand sided which won’t work for me. Can you confirm yours is located on the drivers side please. Thanks heaps
There is a button at the bottom of the mirror to turn of the screen off. A single quick press only turns off the screen (it continues to record through the front and rear camera). A longer press, turns off the unit entirely. When the screen is turned off, it can act like a normal rear view mirror, but it is dark due to the LED/LCD screen sandwiched between the glass front and the mirror reflector at the rear.
Hay Neil. Yes that's how mine is setup. I just used the cables supplied. Just need to use the Cig lighter cable or as I done & purchased the hard wire kit so I could run off an accessory feed. I never hooked up additional power to the rear camera off the reversing switch as my car has a reversing camera installed. So it is a rear view mirror once the car start up automatically 🤠
Hi Kathe, sorry for the late reply. There is a button on the bottom drivers side to turn off the mirror & still allowing it to record. I normally do this at night time driving in Country areas where there is little to no lights.

Thanks Phil. That's great to know. Im so use to having it now, i actually struggle when getting in to a car without it 🤣

Good review Mat. I like the big screen.
Big screen works really well. Almost 150 degree spread on the rear camera. It helps with the blind spots.

Good one. 👍 I just ordered the exact same product from Amazon two days ago. Finger's crossed I don't get a faulty unit. 🤞

no, its always in the top left corner. You don't notice it after a while.

Yes mine is on the right hand side of the mirror. Just be mindful when ordering it online via Amazon :)
On the quick access menu that appears when you touch the glass, there is a mic icon. Does that mic cycle audio record/mute?
Yes there is a Mic icon. You can have it on or off. I leave mine off. I think you can mute this on the fly if you wanted.
@@MKMTA Thanks. Are you using/have you used the reverse guidelines?
@@tayler2396 No, i have a factory reverse camera for that. Mine is mounted on my roof rack.

How do u turn off mirror and use as regular rear view while still in record mode?

When the screen is turned off, it can act like a normal rear view mirror, but it is dark due to the LED/LCD screen sandwiched between the glass front and the mirror reflector at the rear.
Hey mate, quick question. Can I set it to turn on with the Vehicle and immediately act as a rear view camera without any additional input? Cheers

@@MKMTA cheers mate, that's exactly what I'm looking for. (Hilux with canopy on back, so can't see anything🤣)
How bright is the screen at night? Could a car behind me be able to see the dash cam screen?
They could see the screen but wouldn't be able to make out the image unless they were close enough.
@@MKMTA think I will just keep it off at night
Can we turnoff bootup animation and sound?
sound yes. Animation, i don't believe so but it only lasts a few seconds. I don't even notice it anymore.
Howdy fella. With the rear camera, where exactly did you fit this?
Mine is mounted externally on top[ of my roof rack on my 4WD.
