Okay, I actually like how this story was handled, for a halloween special. No ghost appearance, for one thing. Fan story writers seem to love including actual ghosts, which the show and stories never did as far as I can remember, but this narrative didn't include a false haunting alarm or even a ghost story! Just a dark tale of dubious authenticity. And that's the other part I appreciate. This almost feels like a myth or a fable told to explain how the Sodor & Midland floundered, and the shop worker just happened to have a perfectly alive engine in mind when he told it, possibly an engine he had previously repaired. Knowing the engine's true fate takes the edge of the story... and if you're not familiar with Samson, you'll remember Edward- and Gordon's skepticism at once. Although, you're not the first person to say the Sodor and Midland had a fourth engine whose boiler exploded, or even the first to suggest that the crater would become significant. One broa island depicted a S&M #4 suffering a boiler explosion in an original scene at the beginning of his adaptation of Doctor's Orders, a buried truck story, and implied that the crater became the ditch that Gordon fell into. Did you get the idea from him? Did both of you get the idea from someone or somewhere else? The plot thickens. Samson just feels like a perfect fit for S&M lore, by the way, both because his name bears a resemblance to "S&MS&M", and because he just feels like an "I'm you, but better" counterpart to Neil & Bros.
Neil sat there like, " Wonders for the Railway? Riiiiight......... Like I HAVEN'T laid the rails and helped build the infrastructure that you're currently sat on..." 😒
He's actually my favourite CGI character. He's quite unique because unlike most other vain and boastful engines, it really is all in his head. It's good to see him incorporated into a classic series styled story.
I wish Samson was a character for a flashback story in a Brenner Era episode instead of a character who is a pompous bastard, besides, this story was really good
Uphill slow, downhill fast, tonnage first, safety last.
The ES&D's second motto.
Who let bro cook

Moral of the story- you can always count on samson to royally screw something up.
but it wasn’t his fault it was his incompetent crew.

It really fits Samson as a character. Nice story.
That was quite a story. But I wasn't expecting that shocking part at the end. The death of Samson, that was a complete shock 😲.
I like that Gordon told the story and not Edward, a good change of pace.
Sam must follow the motto of the ES&D
Great story! And Great visuals! Plus a nice dark tale given the current time of year, absolutely loved it!
i think this is the fandom’s payback for how unlikable and annoying samson was in the cgi series.

Makes me think of the infamous boiler explosion of the best friend of Charleston.
Crikey... This was really dark...
Great work by the way!👍
Intresting of HIT entertainment Version of Television series style.
I feel like Samson was a young engine in this story.
You mean Samson died? omg RIP
Great job.
Sounds like we have a mystery on our hands.
samson is died⁉︎
Yes
I feel story for Samson he might have stuck up but his driver shouldn't have miss treated the safety valves
Nice one
UGH, TYPICAL SAMSON!!!!!!!!
Wow
2:26 Neil and Samson, sounds good for a story.
@legoranger-1
Interesting use of the worst nitrogen era character
Samsons is a brennervera character not a nitrogen era character
