I think block editor is the correct term and some would beg to differ on associating it with WordPress. I'm in the middle ground in terms of the usefulness of this new editor, in many ways it's a great replacement to the old editor but there are some use cases where it is a hindrance.
Undoubtedly, a distinctive name is crucial for the built-in building experience, notably Gutenberg, given the challenges of rebranding and its enduring relevance. Although "Block Editor" is a feasible alternative, it still needs a unique identifier to stand out among other builders. This is particularly true as more users transition from third-party builders to Gutenberg, amplifying the need for clear differentiation in the crowded marketplace. Apple's strategy of naming features independent of competition highlights this point. Ultimately, a unique and recognizable name is paramount for effective marketing and user orientation.
Such an obvious conclusion, yet so many are still caught up in the old labels. Thank you for calling this out.
This make lot of sense and we must stop calling it gutenberg to avoid confusion and give full credit WordPress deserve.
Great talk, Mike 😊🤩!
