Just a dad here. This car seat is a joke. Thanks for the video. I have never seen a worse set of instructions in my life. Would never buy this carseat again. I wanted to set it on fire and buy another Graco Booster-With Back because they are easy for everyone to install. My mom does car seat checks for a living and didn't know how to get this stupid carseat installed correctly. Again thanks for the video.

Thank you for making this! Now I feel like I’m ready to give my own seat a try. One suggestion, it would’ve been easier to see how you did it if you’d removed the padding, and mentioned that as a step.

Do you have a tip on how to put the base and back together? Can’t return bc I bought it from someone and it is new. I keep doing what it says but they will not connect.
I don't remember having trouble....really....I think I just had to keep pressing down. This seat is just frustrating all around. Sorry, no help with it. Good luck. Search...there should be videos on it.

How do you attach the booster seat to the toddler seat part. Mine didn’t come connected
If I remember right, it was simply just a matter of making sure it is lined up and push down. Hope this helps some. Thanks for watching and have a good day.

Well, it's been a while since I did mine but....it seemed to me you just simply pushed it down till it clicked. I'm not sure though if it actually clicks...I'll have to look at it again and let u know.

The booster seat and back piece isn't connected it has a curve to it so how do I connect it to the booster
If I remember right...you just push down to click it in.

So do the pads have to be on. I have a 42 lb toddler??
My own personal opinion is it would be up to you to decide....I kept ours on simply because there is no padding once gone.

We just installed ours, but we used all 3 anchors and put the belt through the belt path in the back of the carseat

It's a frequently asked question, “Can I use both LATCH and a Seat Belt to install a car seat?”. The answer is usually NO. Using lower LATCH anchors and a seat belt for installation of your child's 5-point harness restraint is not permitted by most car seat and vehicle manufacturers.
I wish I would looked at this before I spent 30 minutes in the rain trying to install this darn carseat.

What about the clips on the back of the car seat?
Do you mean the anchors and tether strap? They just hook into the seat of your car. ....if your car has the hooks. Car seats can be secured using lower anchors and tether or a seat belt and tether.
If you're using the tether hooks, you are not suppose to also use the seat belt! You use the seatbelt once the 5 strap harness is taken out and you're using it as a high back booster and booster seat.

What about the anchors and latches?
The top tether should always be used with a forward-facing seat, whether you use a seat belt or lower anchors to secure it. The seat belt and LATCH systems are equally safe, so you should use one or the other--whichever works best for you and your your vehicle

Thanks for the video, but I need to tell you that grey plastic “strap holder” is not correct placement of the shoulder portion of the belt. That plastic piece is to hold the harness straps out of the way while putting the child in the seat. The shoulder belt is supposed to go up into the back under the wing with the padding around the head for side impact. Just pull the shoulder strap up out of that harness holder, retighten to seat belt and you’ll have that part right. In an accident the strap will likely move up into that spot where it should be and there will be slack on the belt allowing for more movement of the seat which would be dangerous.

@@ASimpleLifewithChrisTara yeah, it’s definitely not my favorite, spent the better part of my morning and afternoon getting two of these installed in different vehicles and them switching his old Graco 4-ever seat to the baby. That booklet this Baby Trend one came with is ridiculous though, definitely had to watch a few videos to understand it!

I totally messed the tether straps up. If you use seatbelt they say you need to use the top tether only. What I have been told. This car seat is a pain lol

I just bought this, it says 22 lbs....In my state the child has to stay rear facing till the age of 2, does this not rear face??? I am probably going to have to take it back...

What about the hook straps on the car seat?
The 2 anchor straps click into hooks on seat of car...made for carseat anchors ...top strap goes over headrest to hook behind seat of car. Double check FIRST but installed this way I believe no carseat belt is used.

So for people who haven’t read her comments, she states that she ended up just using the seatbelt but it says you should always use the top tether strap regardless. So u can use top tether n seatbelt or top tether and LATCH (but correct me if I’m wrong, only use LATCH w the 5 point straps, after they’re removed you can’t use LATCH)

Wait, I don't think that's how the straps go that's extremely difficult... All I do is push them thru the back and that's it, I don't think the vehicle straps should be showing....
*Before installing your seat be sure and read over manual.*
But installing straps from behind seat is for older/weight toddler. My grandson was is not in the reccomended weight for that kind of install. This car seat has multiple ways of installing and can be confusing. Thanks for watching. Again, make sure to look over the entire manual. Hope this helps

Then my 13 year old gave my son's food and it got EVERYWHERE so I took them out and washed them... Now I'm stuck- also the booster top came off and I can't figure out how to put it back in 😭 I feel like crying I'm so stressed out right now!

I can’t even install mine with the anchors. The straps always kink and it never gets tight. I literally hate this car seat. I’ve never had issues with any other car seat.

Good installation, but this seat only has 1 top tether, meaning you've used the latch belt AND the seat belt if you hooked 2 anchors and thats not safe. Also your top tether hook should either be on the back of the seat, the floor behind the seat, or the roof. You hooked it to the latch anchor spot which isn't actually safe.

I came to say the same thing. You should NEVER use both latch and the seat belt. This is actually very unsafe. Plus you also didn’t attach the top tether which is extremely necessary.

I'm almost positive you're not supposed to use the seatbelt and latch at the same time. Just tighten the latch belt. That's why it has an adjuster. Measure the latch strap to how long you think it needs to be for a tight latch before actually latching it and then put your weight on the seat as you finally latch it. It is a pain with any car seat but the safety of the carseat depends on the proper installation. If all else fails, take it to someone qualified to install it correctly at your local fire station!

I could be wrong but I have had this car set for a couple years and this is not the safe recommend way to install. I personally would rather use the manual lol

Actually those "tethers" you tethered are not top tether. You're not supposed to use seat belt and lower anchors together period. Top tether (which is not the lower anchors) is always used in forward facing seats with seat belts or with lower anchors. But otherwise a really great video.

I've heard horror stories about the installation of this seat that I told her to look up videos. And I came across yours. Which was actually very helpful. We watched together a couple of videos

@@joeyrogers3685 no you can chose bottom latch OR seat belt not both ant the same time. You must chose bottom latch or seatbelt install. But you do use top tether with bottom install or seat belt install. Top tether just keeps your childs seat from lunging forward too much in an accident.

The anchors ...from what I understand...cannot be used the same time as seatbelt. But u can use the tether and anchors....or tether and seatbelt but not anchors and seatbelt. Hope that helps.

Save time, tears, and stress just return the seat or do not buy! This baby trend car seat should be taken off the market. So many issues with this seat! Not worth the $ and pain! Seriously I’m a mom of 5 and bought this seat for my last toddler and it was the worst seat I’ve ever bought period

@@ASimpleLifewithChrisTara I have the graco extend to fit for my son and I want to get a new for my daughter with target trade in sale going on and I think I will just spend the extra and get a graco. His carseat is super easy to install, it has buttons on the latches lol. I also wanted to see about the placement of the middle latch since that is a problem with her current carseat and it is not adjustable so that is another reason. But your video is super helpful I love being able to come to youtube and see a real life video. ☺
