    WOW! I know dynamics are a huge part of having a good sound but the way you explained it REALLY made sense. Great video.

    I see what you mean by using dynamics in my version of Summertime. Makes sense! I get so much from these lessons Scott, thanks!

      Awesome! Yeah, throw in some dynamics and articulations with a few embellishments and you can really transform any melody into something great.

    Hey Scott. Have you done a video about slap tonguing?

    Excellent tips Scott, that’s very clear and opens new perspectives to me ! Thanks for sharing. Sometimes though playing louder in the low register may result of a great effect, depending on the context. Keep sharing those tips, that’s great ! 🌵🎷

      Agreed! Those are my general rules for dynamics, but where you find your style is figuring out how to break those rules. Glad your digging the videos. Thanks for all of the support!!

    Recording makes a difference. You’ve explained the scenarios of when or how to choose what dynamics to use. While playing I can think I’m going up and down in volume but when I hear a recording of myself the dynamics aren’t there! So my question is how to actually show dynamics in my playing?

    • @ScottPaddock
      @ScottPaddock  5 ปีที่แล้ว

      Work on your dynamics with long tones where you can hear the difference, then incorporate that into your playing.

    As usual, one more very clear tutorial. I mixed it with the jazz articulation tuto. If I can have a suggestion, please indicate when it s possible (I imagine you improvise) the notes played. It will be very helpful even if another exercise could be to repeat your lick by ear. Cheers and keep doing good videos. Do you have advices for a short daily warm-up?

    Hey Scott, I was wondering if you could make a video on or give me some tips on how to get more consistent low notes at a soft dynamic. I find it rather difficult to start low notes at a soft volume. One other thing on a totally unrelated note, do you have any tips for how to get rid of the spitty sound that occurs from moisture build up im the mouthpiece? Even with sucking it out I find it reoccurring more often than I'd think it should. Thanks, I love the videos!

    • @ScottPaddock
      @ScottPaddock  6 ปีที่แล้ว

      Hey Jagger! I did a video on low notes. Check it out! I didn't really address playing them at soft dynamic levels, but the same principals apply, just slowing down the air a bit. As for the spitty sound, aside from sucking the spit out of the mouthpiece there aren't a lot of other techniques. Usually when it gets really spitty that means your read might be a bit too hard, which could also explain the problem with getting your low notes out at a soft volume.
