There were some criticisms of Vlatko when he was the USWNT coach as folks thought the job was too big for him, especially after the early exit from the World Cup. However, he's undoubtedly a pretty good coach and I believe is capable of doing wonderful things with KC
Yes, he's a good club coach, was a national team failure.
think the NT failed him, more than he failed the NT. time will tell.

@@mmmmnoaosos9652 The loss to Sweden was not very deserved in my opinion, USWNT played much better in that game. Generally, Vlatko had to deal with a generational change with many great players retiring or nearing retirement, it can affect any team. Plus, they finally got serious about developing women's soccer in many parts of the world. England nearly got knocked out by Nigeria in the same round and Germany and Canada did not make it out of their groups at all

who've they beaten? Canada? barely. Brazil? barely. Colombia? still a fraud of team. still no where near the dominate force that we watched for years when Ellis was coach. you see, Vlatko had to take over a team, that lost most of its legends or were too old or injured to contribute like they had once upon a time. he had to break in a ton of new younger players, who frankly, dont know exactly how to play with each other yet.@@erobinsonii every international coach who has to take over a team in transition, usually fails. sets the groundwork for the next coach. you see it everywhere. does that mean Vlatko wasnt a good coach? or does it mean he wasnt in the right place, at the right time? some of the WC, the Olympics, was definitely on the players. i watched the poor play, had nothing to do with tactics. you want an ez whipping boy? go for it. id rather address the real problems.

The NWSL is so hard to predict. It's early days yet, but right now Chicago, which finished dead last in 2023, is first, and Vlatko is likely the coach of the year. Go figure :)

*Wave FC coach mismaneged the roster. Why was Ali started rather than J. Shaw? Westphall's mistake in the penalty area was because the coach hasn't shown her how to tackle in the penalty zone. Stoney replaced her right away to get even or avoid a second yellow card. Anyway, I saw the Wave team completely apathetic.*
