    Those rocker panels are the ONE downside to a Limited. Thanks for the video, you're the ONLY video on the tube that i can find doing this to a limited. Something that should be done far more often

      WorkTheTrigger they sure are a downside to it. As much as I respect Toyota, but I never get why they make things very contradictory and very complicated with these trim options. On one hand they want to keep things simple with the 4Runner to keep it reliable (hence, not too many electronics), but on the other hand they have these so many trim options on the 4Runner, even more than luxury cars like the Lexus or even the Land Cruiser.

      @@anthonymedrano4097 I believe they MIGHT still fit, BUT you will need new shorter brackets (3 on each side). Again, I believe/think.

      @@elmisticcothis was my question. I’ve got a limited and want to do this. If I wanted a running board that would fit a pro/trail 5th gen, would swapping my trim out make them fit?

    I am really curious what the black trim replacement -and small 1/4 panel patch panel would look like painted body color???? I bet it would look great along with TRD side board

    Thank you for making this video! Just did this on my 2020 Nightshade and it worked great. (I laughed when the dealership told me the parts wouldn’t fit.) This was a super simple upgrade. I ended up going with the OEM Predator tube steps which look awesome.

      *Most dealerships unfortunately offer you a passive, robotic service where without handing them VIN number, they’ll be reluctant to help you b/c they’re trained to go by the book and they’re not hardwired for custom projects like this. So, you really have to do your homework and hand them over the part numbers that you need. 🥸*

    Dude you're the man! I bought my 2013 4Runner used, and it had been in a minor collision. The insurance company (before I bought the vehicle) replaced the SR5 trim with the Limited trim in order to save a few bucks and cover a dent in the frame. I bought N-FAB Nerf Steps in the RS edition, and of course they don't fit with the Limited trim in the way. All of my frame matches your 2018, so I'm doing this now to cover the ugly underside. Much appreciated!

    This mod makes a lot of sense, I cannot believe dealers are still installing the same running boards but leaving the ground effects on. They are almost useless on a Sport or Limited. I actually ordered my Limited with the auto running boards but my order got pushed back because they are not available right now for the 2023 model year.

      Here you go: 4Runner running boards conversion project:
      Parts needed (right and left sides):
      Moulding sub-assy: 75805-35130
      Moulding sub-assy: 75806-25100
      Cover rocker pan: 75857-35010
      Cover rocker pan: 75858-35010
      Retainer Side Mu (14 pieces for both sides): 76924-13020
      Mudguard fr fend: 76621-35150
      Mudguard fr fend: 76622-35150
      Running boards (steel plate only): 51781-35010. This is the reference to the steel plate only for the right side. But make sure you examine full parts diagram in link below as you visit your dealership’s parts center. In my case, I was lucky to buy both running boards off of craigslist at a good deal. That’s why I don’t have all numbers for the parts needed to assemble the non-Limited trim running boards. But the diagram below should help you figure out what parts you need for the running boards.

    • @adamsgarage1634
      @adamsgarage1634  5 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      JimzOnDroid
      Yes I got everything from my local dealer which usually matches online price. All parts (except for the running boards themselves) cost around $500. But for the running boards I was lucky to find a used pair in like-new condition at a steel price on Craigslist for about $100. I wouldn’t buy new ones as they can be costly. Just look for a used pair online. eBay May have some good deals on some used ones.

    • @JimzOnDroid
      @JimzOnDroid 5 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Thanks. That’s not bad. I’ll do the same for the running boards, try and find them used. Is there a way to replace the rear door-mounted portion of the flares with something that won’t stick out like the limited? I could get something from a trail or another model if it lines up to the quarter panel piece and maybe just have them painted? Thanks again

    • @adamsgarage1634
      @adamsgarage1634  5 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      JimzOnDroid
      I haven’t done that yet to my car (it doesn’t bother me), but I’m strongly confident that you can easily replace them with a “non-Limited” flairs. They only use clips most likely. But then you’ll have to paint them to match whatever paint you already have on your car (they come unpainted).You can also check a nearby junkyard as you might get lucky and find all parts needed (including running boards) at a fraction of the cost.

    Great video. I am thinking of doing my 2014 Limited and using the TRD running boards to start with. I see some people used the Predator tube step. I tried to have the Predator tube step installed earlier this year at the dealer before the modification. They dealership could not do it. Does anyone have any pictures of what the end result looks like with the Predator tube step?
    I was trying to look at all the parts online. It seems like the description has a few wrong numbers and duplicate part numbers. Using the video and what is in the description, this is what I came up with. Does this look correct?
    Moulding sub-assy (Rocker Panel Guard Right) : 75805-35130
    Moulding sub-assy(Rocker Panel Guard Left): 75806-35100
    Cover-rocker pan (Fender Moulding Right): 75857-35010
    Cover rocker pan (Fender Moulding Left): 75858-35010
    Rocker Moulding Clip: 75867-35010 - 2 pieces
    Retainer Side Mu: 76924-13020 - 14 pieces
    Mudguard fr fend Right: 76621-35150
    Mudguard fr fend Left: 76622-35150

    • @tpmacleod
      @tpmacleod 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      I completed the install and it went quite well. The video definitely helped. I count not figure out where the rocker clip fit and installing the mud guard was a little tricky. If you want to install a new mudguard you will need additional screws and clips that are not identified in the video or come with the mud guard.
      At this time I do not have any part numbers.

    • @jwooohooo4932

      Hi - did you ever figure out part numbers for clips for the new mud guards? I was under the impression you could reuse the clips from the limited mudguards. I just ordered these exact same parts, so now I’m worried I won’t be able to attach the mudguards
