Thanks so much Nigel ! Its worth the extra work and it is making a nice model for doing the extra work. I have this kit and haven't started to build it yet. You are giving me some great ideas on building my kit so thank you! Tons!
Hi Nigel: A quick word of thanks for this video and the others in your F/A-18F Super Hornet build series. I have this kit as well and began to think that I wouldn't ever build it given the "acidic" comments and reviews I found about it elsewhere on the "net." With your suggestions and guidance however, my project can now proceed - particularly since I have some grand after-market decals for the "F" and Revell put some excellent details into the moulding. I'm now encouraged to get Revell's "E" Super Hornet in the same scale! Well done, looking forward to more!
Ordered something because of you today mate. Don’t know whether I like you or not right now, but I know I will like you when whatever I bought needs to be used ☺️☺️☺️
For a rough sanding of a straight surface I am using regular nail sander, metallic one. It will last forever because plastic doesn't seem to damage a sanding surface.
I am really enjoying following this build. I know there is allot of bad press on this kit but alas Academy has not added an E, F or G to their amazing A,C and D kits in 1/32. The Revell kits are cost effective compared to the costly Trumpeter ones and more within some modellers budgets. No kit is really unbuildable and It is great to see you taking on the challenge to show that with some skills and patience you can end up with an amazing end result. These far from perfect kits help to build some great essential skills. You don’t need to follow the steps exactly as long as you dry fit and test. Great tutorial thought👍
Nigel I am learning loads here and have also watched Phil F build his, mine is winking at me from the stash pile. PLEASE DUDE finish this one, your work is epic! I know mine wont come close but I will give it my best go.
Another great informative video I'm not building this but so many great pointers for all kits. Just got my first pot of Mr Surfacer wow now I know why you use it so much it's really helping me. Many many thanks. PS you seem to be enjoying yourself more in your videos now it's great to see 👍🛩️
Nigel, you deviating from the sequence has really resulted in a nice fitting kit. enjoyed your additional hosting Icequeen this afternoon a real good chat
More informative tuition, Nigel. As always great to see although the viewing pleasure was slightly impaired by the six (or was it seven?) ad breaks. I am looking forward to the addition of the nose section and what challenges that may throw up. Looks like Revell have given us the raw materials for an excellent model if you are willing to put some work in and at a reasonable price. Large scale modern jets are not really my thing but I'm following this with great interest.
Well Nigel it’s not an f18 yet but it is definitely a slid f9+ on its way to becoming a lovely f18. All the extra fit prep is making this a much better kit than you first took out of the box. After 3 hours 25 minutes and 56 seconds of spur of the moment Icequeen7 live stream and then this 56 minute video, you have earned a rest. Take care, stay safe, woof to Jess and will see you on Sunday if you pop in.
The internal part of the rear stabilators would have been trapped under the part of the pipes that you cut away - the bit of the original part with the kit ECS panels. With them no longer there it seems free to move up and down as the stabilators rotate. Should it be glued to the inside of the fuselage to stop it moving?
I built this set and to be honest it goes together like shit and you have to literally bend-glue the plastic... more reasons not to buy revell.... (thats my personal opinion on this set and the brand

All the extra work you put into these kits sure pays off mate. The time and effort is patience that I am yet to find. Love your work my friend.

It is coming together great Nigel. Another one of your phenomenal videos! Thank you Nigel!
You are very welcome
great video Nigel
Thanks mate.
Can't wait for more Lanc videos
It's all coming together splendidly, looking forward to your take on the fit of the stabilators - mind the gap.
I will probably change the shape of the rear fuselage Phillip?
looking great nigel

Awesome! Thank you!
Excellent work Nigel.
Thank you! Cheers!
Hi Nige, the rear flying surfaces are called stabilators. Elevons are normally only on delta wing aircraft like the mirage

Sorry John, and thanks for telling me about the ads.. I will sort it now.
I love your videos about the Revell F/A-18F. In Part 6 you're mentioning a Part 7. Did you do a part 7?
Sorry, I still have the kit but it burned me out.

Its not an issue mate. There are tabs on the sides of the exhausts that control the up/down movement of them
Hi,
Did you ever managed to get into the end of the build? Maybe on Patreon?
Not yet.. it is tough to build up the enthusiasm to work on such a poor product.
Can you help me out Nigel I'm still puzzled by you telling viewers if they don't like the video to hit the dislike button twice.
It's a joke Vic. If you hit the like or dislike twice it undoes the selection.. so, hit dislike twice, it removes the dislike..
Any chance on part 7 ?.
I doubt it, at least at the moment...
