The game looks phenomenal, but I am noticing some bugs in the game (it could be a compression issue, but let's see if these were noticed: 1) Doesn't the cutscene at 30:50 minute mark seem a bit...broken? First, the camera was clipping through the head, then quickly "teleported" to a different part of the face, and the cutscene to the talk between Senua and her friend seems a bit... laggy. Lipsync seems to not line up with the voices, or at least for the beginning. It may either be intentional, transition from out of focus to in-focus, or it may be an issue. 2) There are some subtitles that don't line up with the voicelines, but that isn't an issue. Sometimes they shorten the lines. There are, however, times when the subtitles don't show up or lag and show up later. 3) 38:35 has slight clipping through the model. While this isn't entirely a problem, because a lot of games utilize it, at the very least, it should be reasonable to have for the game, not break the experience itself. 4) The scene at around 1:11:30 seems to have gone out of sync with the voices themselves. [more bugs being looked for as we speak]
For all the money they spent on the mocap, you'd think they'd animate the eyes more. They inexplicably move nicely in some scenes and gaze stone still in others.
Edin743 usually mocap doesn't capture eye movement and animators have to hand animate the eyes which is VERY time consuming so most games don't even bother doing it except in full cinematica but I'm pretty sure they had eye capture in this one. Maybe they couldn't have it for all the scenes if those sessions were particularly expensive. If they consciously removed it, that would be weird. Even the mentally ill move their eyes.
After this game came out, I got into studying a bit about psychosis and schizophrenia, which the character suffers from. In real life, their eyes don't move right. It's just very weird.
n8n8n8 they also have spelling errors and missing subtitles for some dialogue. senua says "I'm listening" but the subtitle says "I'm still listening." not a big difference but it still bugs grammar police like me.
She is cursed. It's a curse. But then where the psychiatrists come in the making of this game, is where they make the curse mimic that of a person with psychosis.
This was way too freakin long. It says cut scenes but most of this is gameplay. Why? Just because her voices are talking? Those aren't cut scenes. PLUS the audio goes out for the last few minutes. Like uh, I just watched 3 hours so I can have no idea what the ending dialogue is? Cool. Thanks.
Or the tale of Orpheus and Eurydice, or the Harrowing of Hell, etc. That's the thing with archetypes-- you hear them over and over again from storytellers.
they've spent so much money and strenght on rendering senua's face that nothing left for others characters so they just used iphone's filter on them :D
I'm sorry but I don't really think this game has a very coherent plot. Yeah Senua is going to travel to Hel to bring back her lover Dillion. Whoop de doo. But to be real here, I thought that learning of Norse mythology when you come across those runes was more interesting. Who is this Darkness? Why did the Northmen attack? How did Senua kill Hela (you can see her body lying on the ground there at the end) and since Senua had to kill Sutr near the very beginning does that mean she prevented Ragnarok? You guys can tell me I'm just asking. Educate me...
1) The darkness is caused by Senura, it's a plague that destroyed her world (the world of the Vikings ) 2) Hela did and didn't die. Hela's death is in Senura's mind. So she decided that Hela was dead, switching places. ( if you need more clarification, just ask) 3) Ragnarok did happen already. The darkness was the beginning of the end for humanity. Surt, with his blazing sword, fought along side dark creatures and wiped out the Northmen. The dark creatures are the ones who have been recruited by Loki, the fallen Northmen, and those who were already in Hel.
Jacob Childress if you need further clarification, watch the full walkthrough or play the game. Your questions are more easily answered in either one of those. Or you could just ask more questions from me ;)
The main concept is fighting mental illness, split personalities, grieves and pain inducing fear and suicidal urges. If you have ever experienced mental illness, or studied in this field, you would be able to relate to this story a hell lot, but for normal people it's hard to comprehend. The voices present many stages of her emotion and her other personalities, her inner war with herself. The "deleting save data after so many death" represent the horrible truth of suicidal thought: after each and every time a suicidal person come back from death door, he or she stands closer to it, until there's no where left to turn back. I battled suicidal urge and mental illness since a very young age, so when i saw the concept I realized right away the meaning behind each details and mechanic they put in. Although, I must admit that this is not a game for just everyone.
When I watched the final trailer I already more or less guessed where this game is going. You can't say for certain if all of this is real or it's just something created by Senua's mind in order to coop with the devastation: the world is destroyed, her lover died a horrible death.
DDragon1226 It's intentionally not meant to necessarily be for everyone, as in they're not trying to design a game that caters to everyone. They were trying to make a game that simply fulfills their creative vision and hopefully carve out a hardcore niche audience or better. Which is why some children saying "the voices are cringe", for instance, is in no shape or form valuable feedback to them, as they were not trying to cater to that type of simpletons to begin with. Hopefully this game turns into a good enough success so that other independent devs can learn from it's ways of turning a small budget into a game with presentation and quality as good as this, so they can also try and fulfill their creative visions with out being at a disadvantage compared to big publishers in terms of presentation, and so that not the majority of games are simply chasing trends and mass market design with barely any creative risks.
It's Schizophrenia and it is genuine and what people live with. I don't claim to know what it's like, but I've heard this is a pretty good example of it.
My friend has had pychosis since he was 9 and he says this game is extremely accurate with what he deals with on a daily basis. It's trying to portray mental illness in a realistic way, don't like it then don't play it.
Thank you. This game helped me deal with some things and to be able to watch the cutscenes on demand when I need to is great.
A lot of people completely missing the point of the voices.
Senua suffers from Psychosis so she hears voices in her head all the time
And Schizophrenia
The voices are the dead souls in hel. I have no idea where ppl got that shes schizophrenia
Because the Devs CLEARLY said she is..
TheCrimsonFckr yea she is. Sorry
I've watched the Journey into Helheim sequence maybe 5 or 6 times now. Excellent mastery of poetry, VA, and music. Starts around 1:00:55 to 1:06:10
That is true. This scene is in my eyes a true cinematic masterpiece that I have never seen in any other game yet.
Definitely the best I've ever seen.
Amazing.
Absolutely the best cutscene/cinematic I've ever seen in a game. So moving and heartbreaking.
is the audio totally gone at the end or is it just me?
I'm definitely playing this for myself when I get a new pc... this game is all kind of beautiful in my opinion!
I was just thinking about how I wish there were more psychological stories to experience and the next day I find this game. I need to play it, oml.
Clearly 12 year olds thinking the voices are cringe. FFS completely missing the point.
Favorite part: 1:02:23
This game reminded me lot of Dante's Inferno
Yea man, truly
LOVED that game!

Is it just me, or does the sound cut out at the end of the video?
same. downvoted for that
Muderous Chaotic same

n8n8n8 well... She is mentally ill so that might be why...

I think that's point
Ok I'm confused, are those voices in her head because she is traumatized or are they the voices of Helheim ?
What's with the audio at the end
I was just wondering the same thing. What the heck!
what are these voices? can someone please let me know....
She is cursed. It's a curse. But then where the psychiatrists come in the making of this game, is where they make the curse mimic that of a person with psychosis.
@@zola1249She isn’t cursed. She literally had schizophrenia. The entire game is in her mind essentially.
I must say that logo on the corner is a bit annoying.
The game has no overlay for a reason and that logo sure become a good example of why.
the narrator sounds like that dude from Dungeon Keeper.
I was too impatient to play the game so I watched this at 2x speed instead.
I wish I could do that while playing the game.
My fingers were hurting from holding "Forward" and "sprint" buttons for 90% of the time.
Thanks

It's so dark, it's dark, the darkness.
52:30 So is she getting raped or what???! What the hell?!
John Smith Nah it's this god in the in the form of some kind of bird creature pecking her back.
Hi
The story is ripped from the 1st third of the divine comedy for sure.
Or the tale of Orpheus and Eurydice, or the Harrowing of Hell, etc.
That's the thing with archetypes-- you hear them over and over again from storytellers.
Nice video! my friend RGR29 is going to play it at 4k on his channel :-) like!
they've spent so much money and strenght on rendering senua's face that nothing left for others characters so they just used iphone's filter on them :D
Yeah, they aren't even actually in the game. All other humans you see are live-action videos superimposed on the game... like UI.
2:30:50 HAHAHAHHAHAHAHA OH MY GOD
Dean James what😑

*SCHIZOPHRENIA ... THE VIDEO GAME !!!*
What in the actual fuck.
First
The whispers are Super cringe and annoying
It's Schizophrenia and it is genuine and what people live with. I don't claim to know what it's like, but I've heard this is a pretty good example of it.
They're still cringe
YOu can say its cringe but thats what they have to deal with
My friend has had pychosis since he was 9 and he says this game is extremely accurate with what he deals with on a daily basis. It's trying to portray mental illness in a realistic way, don't like it then don't play it.
brandon low what is NOT "cringe" or "edgy" or "cliche" nowadays???
The game is sooo boring. Image if it wasn't an action game. Jeez.
W Boumans this game was amazing. Can't wait for a second one.
Porkeater2610957 what brings you here?
Your mom
Yeah, right.
It isn't even an action game. It is a walking simulator with combat elements.
Hi
