There's not enough data to definitively say that go-karts are more dangerous, but it certainly has way less safety regulations and built-in safety than cars, not to mention they're driving around an unfamiliar winding, and graded track trying to go as fast as they can. How many people are "watching you closely" is totally irrelevant. That doesn't even make any logical sense. People get in racing accidents all the time with coaches and navigators helping them.
