Chicken on Christmas sounds great! As an American, I think that we should adopt this tradition!

Great video! I'd love to spend Christmas in Japan one day. And the amount of gifts I received as a kid here in the USA always varied from year to year-but my parents did use it as a reward / incentive for getting good grades in school-so the better grades, the more presents ;)

Thanks for your comment! That can be a great motivation for getting good grades as a kid! 👍

I think Natsumi might be on to something... one gift under the tree. Hmm....maybe we'll try it this Christmas. It's always been about family for our Christmas tradition. Eating and drinking all day and just being together. It's the best. I loved hearing about the Japanese traditions and listening to your beautiful piano playing Natsumi... you are so talented. I hope next year you can experience an American Christmas with us.

Love that you played the music yourself ❤❤❤ Merry Christmas 🎄🎁 I got many gifts as a child but as you grow up, you get less bc you figure out that Christmas is more about spending time with family & enjoying watching the children play with their new toys or playing games with the whole family & trying to enjoy that time together. Not all families can do that bc of differences in personalities but most people that are that way try for each other or their children bc family is important even if you don’t agree with each other on things. Putting yourself aside for the whole to have a nice holiday & get along, especially for the children’s sakes but also elderly people in the family to make beautiful memories to remember in their old age.

Great video ❤. I come from a German background, so we always have a real Christmas tree to represent the persistence of life, even during the dark Winter months. My wife is Vietnamese so there is a huge family party with a hot pot dinner. I wish we had the beautiful Japanese Christmas cakes here in the US. I usually get the German Christmas Stolen (like a fruit bread with marzipan filling). Anyway, Merry Christmas! 🎅🏻🎄🎅🏻🎄❄️❄️

We do have multiple presents. Its gets to be less in number when you get older because the gifts get more expensive (electronics). I honestly would only admire one gifts the most anyways but I always liked my sock. Usually socks are hung by a fire. If you do not have a fireplace, you can hang them on the wall. They get filled with candy and cute small gifts like: flavored chap sticks, nail polish, hair elastics, small hand lotion, gloves, etcetera.

Thanks for telling me the details! Finding lots of gifts in the socks sounds exciting on a Christmas Day!

Chicken for Christmas isn't that bad (I like chicken!). We tend to place a little bit of everything on the table to celebrate.
As an American most kids gets more gifts because of other family specially when we/they visit after Christmas. We even give gifts to neighbors, at the office, and pretty much everyone we know.
We want to keep the Christmas spirit longer. We normally start decorating around Thanksgiving and keep it until 2 weeks after New Year. Removing the decorations is harder than putting them on so we try to keep it longer. There's no sense to decorate your house for a few days and then remove it. My garage alone is just full of Christmas decorations. You should look up house decorations in the US during Christmas so you get the idea of what I'm talking about. It will blow your mind... :)
Commercial district really go all the way putting up lights and decorations to attract more people. May be on your next Christmas video can you show us what Christmas looks like in your neighborhood and what decorations you have in your home? Do Japanese decorates their houses on Christmas?
    Great video by the way!

We made Christmas a cake too. It is actually a birthday cake for Jesus. As Christians we celebrate Christmas as the birth of Jesus Christ (hence the name CHRISTmas). Our children received three gifts (usually 1- something for learning, 2-something they needed and 3-something for fun) on Christmas morning to represent the three gifts the wise men who were searching for Jesus gave to him when they found him. Thank you for sharing your traditions. It's very interesting learning others way of celebrating holidays. 😊👍

Many Americans eat Chinese food on Christmas. This tradition comes from the popular holiday movie “a Christmas story”. Also in America it is not unusual to receive dozens of gifts as well as a stocking or sock filled with small items. Merry christmas from your friends in America!
