thanks so much! this helped a lot! i do my hobby horses mane so differently and it takes around 1 hour just to put the mane on -.- ill definitely be trying the way you do it! also it helped knowing how to do the middle strip for the body. i tried it on my first one but his head went all wonky... so now i changed to not doing the middle strip but I'm going to try it again!
the head was probably wonky because the sewing needs to be straight. if you hand sew it, it can easily be crooked because the sides are not on the same place on the strip. checking the placing every so often while sewing helps.

1 yard is fine for a horse. normally a yards dimensions are 36” x 60” and that is more than enough. just make sure you have a long enough strip for the middle!
What sewing machine do you use? I cannot find a good one that works :o, btw LOVE this tutorial! It helped me so much because I have never made a hobby horse before but i'm making one soon!

Or you could buy a one colour fabric and then another one colour fabric, then u cut out a pattern and stitch it on :) Sierra stables option is easier xD

You should try using velboa fur fleece fabric for making hobby horses it’s much more realistic
