Sony doesn’t focus on buying out the media because just as Nintendo the brand is too strong and carries itself. MS is already behind worse this gen after a little over a year than last generation (16 mil to 10). Xbox will be lucky to move 35 million units this time so all of the focus is on creating higher perceived demand for the Xbox through paid articles and social influence.

Sony doesn’t focus on buying out the media because just as Nintendo the brand is too strong and carries itself. MS is already behind worse this gen after a little over a year than last generation (16 mil to 10). I am really glad you pointed this out. A lot of people don't know that the original Xbox launched almost 2 years after PS2 (difference in power by default) and the Xbox 360 launched a year before the PS3 (Xbox 7 to 8 million lead) with both still losing the race.
