That wasn't fear you heard, or him being a weenie. That was frustration and exasperation you heard. In that game, the Giants got away with quite a few hits up to that point that probably should have been called roughing the passer, and likely would have had they happened to Tom Brady, Aaron Rodgers, Drew Brees, or Peyton Manning. So basically, Goff was taking illegal hits that he knew were illegal all game and the refs weren't calling it, no matter how much he kept telling the refs what was happening. I think most QBs would have similar emotions in that situation. That last hit, at 2:12 was the most flagrant of them all. The Giants' defender basically clothesline tackled him, which has been an illegal way to tackle someone for a long time. That said, any contact to a QB's head or neck area by a defender's hands, arms, legs, feet, or helmet is an automatic roughing the passer. That ref was blind or paid off if he saw that hit and didn't flag it.
Now, don't get me wrong. I'm not saying Jared Goff is a good, great, average, or bad QB. This has nothing to do with that. I'm simply saying that many QBs would have the same reaction in that situation, though they might express it differently. Furthermore, even if Jared Goff is a bad QB, that doesn't change the fact that he should be afforded the same protection that other QBs get.
