I'm not going to argue with this too much because I think that the best way to watch Survivor is in order and I imagine that it's the same for the amazing race but personally I find many of the early seasons to have too slow of a pace to hold my interest especially considering that this is supposed to be a race. I think that my favorite stretch of seasons is 12-18 and I usually recommend for new viewers to start at season 12 and then continue watching in order from there.

It HAD to be TAR 5. Easily one of the best seasons of reality television across all shows and networks. Just an amazing watch, every episode. Iconic characters, epic tension, just fantastic!
Also Egypt!! What other U.S. series can flex that they've been to this beautiful country to document a real-time and real-life experience? I don't see any raised hands in the room other than TAR. 💅🏽
Colin was so entertaining that season LOL The cousins were so cutthroat too, breaking stereotypes left and right; as much as I love them I didn't want them to win
More than ANY other team, they are the team I wish I could have seen race one more time. Gretchen is gold and Meredith is a saint. "We Have a Bad Elephant" is THE single greatest episode of TAR ever, and that is in large part because of them.
another awesome season for newbies is season 17! it has amazing teams, a really interesting route, and a viral moment in the first episode which is hilarious. highly recommend!
I actually started with season 17 due to being a KevJumba fan (Michael and Kevin). They actually aren't one of my favorite teams, but the season overall got me hooked.
Thanks for not spoiling anything dude. After binging through Survivor and Big Brother, I'm questioning if I should give this show a shot too. And honestly, I think I'll start with those seasons and see how I feel.
Very timely for me as I just started watching the Amazing Race last week! I started with season 1 and found that a good starting point. I'm on season 4 now and have been enjoying it, the first is still my favourite so far
@@OnceUponAnIsland hey now, dumpster fires can be quite entertaining to watch. See: Survivor Gabon 🤣 Lori & Bolo and a lot of the locations breathe a little bit of light in 6, and 8... hmm... that's tough, but honestly I think they could have/should have spun it off as a separate show (especially when Disney still had some of the production/distribution rights to the show) for Disney Channel or something and let it be The Great Race or The Amazing Road Trip and do it as a family race from coast to coast. TAR Canada meets Cannonball Run. There's so much of the US [and Canada (have they been back to Canada since 8??), even Mexico and the Caribbean] I wish they would go to, but they never will because it's not in the L.A. area =/

I mean the premiere, Episode 4, and Episode 9 are just incredible! Like seriously that season is SO good. What do you guys think about the season? What's your favorite part of it?
I think that season 12 is the best season for a new Amazing Race viewer. My memory of Amazing Race is pretty blurry and for the most part all of the newbie seasons just blur together but season 12 is the one that sticks out for me. It had two of my all time favorite teams and so many hilarious moments. I'd also like to point out that you said that people should watch seasons 14-17 before watching 18 but they should also definitely watch season 12 before season 18 because season 12 has two teams that return for season 18. (Personally I had only seen seasons 14-17 before watching 18 and I still really enjoyed it but I imagine that it would be even better if I had seen season 12 first.)
Watched the first 3 seasons so far and at this point I'm just wondering if there's ever going to be a team I like more than Ken and Gerard. Those two pretty much made season 3 watchable for me entirely on their own, with some help from the twins. They were hilarious, well balanced in strengths and pulling their weight, worked together brilliantly and were just all around great competitors. I went into the season not expecting much from them and now I'm not sure how I can watch the show without them, lol.
That was me with John Vito & Jill. They were relatively so quick with everything and focused on the goal with little to no arguments. I'm glad they were back for All-Stars because their competitive edge was really something else at the time and a lot of coed teams nowadays are type-casted out of their original spirit even if others don't see it.
Highly suggest watching The Amazing Race Canada in order. Easy to find and (in my opinion) better than the US seasons. Also, even if you enjoy the US seasons just as much, it's definitely a good place to start!
@@pokemonyghchamp The Amazing Race Canada is the Canadian version! Basically it's more seasons of the show rather than a full separate show (of course there are no US racers on the Canadian version and vice versa). I personally enjoy the production and the teams of this version better most of the time but there's not a HUGE difference so if you like one you should enjoy the other even if you do have a preference.
Ehh, I watched seasons 1, 2, but 3 really lost me at that. The Canadian version has the same problem as the U.S's current era where the edit lacks adrenaline. But it's definitely proof that a domestic race can still be amazing and can educate. I would've never known Canada's individual provinces could be that diverse in its geography, subcultures, traditions, and demographics.
I admit I had only seen 1 and 2 at the time of the original comment, and only started watching 3 a lot more recently, and I definitely agree. But TARC1 and 2 are still definitely my favourite two seasons of TAR.
Season 1: to see just how this crazy idea of going around the world performing tasks and dealing with airports, language mixup and all the stuff. It's the naked truth. Like a documentary but in a competitive way. And we have the team who put the competition aspect into this show. Season 3: great characters, great locations, lots of personalities clashing and making it tv gold Season 5: best route, best characters (everyone has their moment somehow), anyway the best Season 7: everybody hates Rob. So do a lot of us. Worth it for the competitiveness. Season 10: twists, great route, great characters, game on all the time. Season 12: starts to change some aspects in the game, such as number of legs, roadblocks and stuff. Season 14: lame route, wonderful players. The semifinal is pure gold. Season 17: first leg with such an iconic moment, great final three, more twists and great winners Season 23: MARIE. That's it, watch it because of her and whatever good comes is good as well Season 29: the twist of setting the teams up. That is worth it Plus: if you don't mind about spoilers, season 18 (which is an all star). And season 22 because of all the eliminations - seriously, everyone of them is like...WTF has just happened?
For some reason, I only started watching TAR 7 and I got hooked. I liked TAR 29 the most. I loved how they made every competitor do a challenge. Whoever finished first would get first priority for a partner, 2nd choose 2nd, etc. The runner ups were surprising. She picked a guy who finished last in the initial challenge, but knew he was a strong competitor. The final 3 teams had to deal with Chicago's brutal July heat.
The first time (and so far only) that I've watched TAR was season 21, because I was a fan of the Beekman Boys beforehand. They're super cool guys and have been really kind in talking to me as I've grown up over the years.
Unpopular opinion: season 8 got me hooked. I watched it when I was a kid and seeing kids my age go on the Race made me realize “if they can do it, so can I!”
I think the seasons I would recommend to a beginner are 5, 7, 17, and 25. I know you only talked about the US series, but The Amazing Race Australia 2 (2012) is probably my favorite season of all time. I would recommend it after you watch a few of the US series, as they have twists such as the Must Vote U-Turn, Yield, Intersection, Fast Forward, Salvage Pass, and Express Pass (though unaired) in one season! Also, the cast is probably the best cast of all time. I think 10 of the 11 teams could have come back for an all-stars and no one would question it.
I know it might be an exception, but TAR Australia Season 2 is one of the best seasons ever. The competitiveness and the dynamics of the characters are top-notch, which makes for a great season.
Oh it is a fantastic season! One of my Top 5 TAR seasons all around. The cast is great; I really wish the American casts were more like this, people you feel like you know, not 1/3 aspiring actors/models 1/3 minor celebrities 1/3 athletes. But the race route is phenomenal with great tasks. Baking souffles at Le Cordon Bleu is a brilliant challenge! And a handful of other places that the American version still has yet to/will never get to go to... it's pretty enviable.
@@arloga205 Ok so guess what I talked to my friend about The Amazing Race Australia 2 and he found a way for me to watch it. It’s on a website called bilili.com. All you do is type that in the search bar and then look up Amazing Race Australia and there it is! I just thought I would let you know how I was when I was trying to find it but MAN am I happy my friend saved the day by telling me a way.

@@KevinAbillGaming don’t say that, season 32 was a very different season, mostly because of that alliance, but season 33 already looks like a different season than 32 so I think you’ll be fine
FYI, I heard the Survivor couple Keith and Whitney really connected after they were voted out but still on the island at Ponderosa. Married now I think.
My favorites are seasons 1-4, I just like how the show had generally nice teams back then, most of the fights were between couples and nothing else, and the emphasis was on travel and getting to your next destination, and most importantly, no twists like the yield and u-turn and no penalties for non-elimination legs. The show really isn't the same anymore, modern tv is much too edited.
Too bad season 5 premiered at a time when the internet is just beginning to take hold. It was so good it would have broken the internet! Oh well, we can just comfort ourselves that at that time it was able to break an ox 😉 Thank you for this. For a non stop reality show featuring something a lot of people enjoys (seriously, would you rather be stuck in an island or travel around the world?) and has won numerous awards as best reality competition show, it is terribly underrated and underrepresented here on TH-cam!
Sooooooooo I have to go back here when I'm finished watching the whole show up to season 26 (I caught up with season 27-present so I'm just going to watch seasons 1-26) because I want to rank them. But for me I think beginners or people new to the show needs to watch the seasons chronologically because for me every season is a "must-watch" and an "amazing" season (To anyone wondering as of writing this comment I'm in season 18 episode 6)
As an Amazing Race superfan, I know that the narrator is cautiously telling us info about the shows and racers that they don't want to mention bec. of spoilers, but still I know who they are referring to. Hahahahaha. SPOILER: , , , , ,, , Charla and Mirna and Collin and Christie are the best! S5 is the best especially when they visit Egypt. And the first Egypt leg... 👌
I really want to watch every season of TAR and Big Brother but I can’t because they aren’t available on CBS All Access in Canada. but I’ll listen to your recommendations even though I’ve watched most of the newer ones
Many seasons visit Argentina. On the top of my head for the US version: Season 5 - episodes 2 and 3, Season 7 - episodes 3 and 4, Season 11 - episode 4, Season 16 - episode 3, Season 20 - episodes 1 and 2, Season 27 - episodes 2 and 3, and Season 36 - episode 6.
I'd love to have a country index so I can cherry pick . . watch Amazing Race but use it for a travelogue. Do you know where I can find that list? So far I've just been scrolling episodes on Hulu but many episodes don't say where the contestants are traveling.

I just finished season 6 and saw pv of season 7. Now, would it be recommended that I watch the survivor seasons before watching season 7 of the amazing race or would it be fine watching the race without knowing about them before they entered the race?
I watched season 29 after you recommended it. It was a fun season, but I was disappointed in the winners. They were so whiny and argumentative the whole season. I was not rooting for them at all. I really liked the concept of pairing up with strangers. I hope they do it again in the future!

Highly suggest watching The Amazing Race Canada in order. Easy to find and (in my opinion) better than the US seasons. Also, even if you enjoy the US seasons just as much, it's definitely a good place to start!
what's the difference?
@@pokemonyghchamp The Amazing Race Canada is the Canadian version! Basically it's more seasons of the show rather than a full separate show (of course there are no US racers on the Canadian version and vice versa). I personally enjoy the production and the teams of this version better most of the time but there's not a HUGE difference so if you like one you should enjoy the other even if you do have a preference.
@@silvercyndaquil8472 okay I'll look for it
Ehh, I watched seasons 1, 2, but 3 really lost me at that.
Season 11 -- Underrated but amazing flight snatches by Charla and Mirna
Season 1: to see just how this crazy idea of going around the world performing tasks and dealing with airports, language mixup and all the stuff. It's the naked truth. Like a documentary but in a competitive way. And we have the team who put the competition aspect into this show.
Season 3: great characters, great locations, lots of personalities clashing and making it tv gold
Season 5: best route, best characters (everyone has their moment somehow), anyway the best
Season 7: everybody hates Rob.
Season 17: first leg with such an iconic moment, great final three, more twists and great winners
Season 23: MARIE. That's it, watch it because of her and whatever good comes is good as well
Season 29: the twist of setting the teams up. That is worth it
Plus: if you don't mind about spoilers, season 18 (which is an all star).
And season 22 because of all the eliminations - seriously, everyone of them is like...WTF has just happened?
I just finished season 23 and LMAOO you’re so right, Marie is so loud and explosive, she’s so iconic whether you like her or not
Best show on Television period I have watched every season
For some reason, I only started watching TAR 7 and I got hooked. I liked TAR 29 the most. I loved how they made every competitor do a challenge. Whoever finished first would get first priority for a partner, 2nd choose 2nd, etc. The runner ups were surprising. She picked a guy who finished last in the initial challenge, but knew he was a strong competitor. The final 3 teams had to deal with Chicago's brutal July heat.
Every season when Phil says “the world is waiting for you” I get chills
Travel safe, good luck, go!
The first time (and so far only) that I've watched TAR was season 21, because I was a fan of the Beekman Boys beforehand. They're super cool guys and have been really kind in talking to me as I've grown up over the years.
SEASON 5! Hands down the best!
I really enjoyed the last season that just aired on tv. it was a great break from the stresses of life and what not
Unpopular opinion: season 8 got me hooked. I watched it when I was a kid and seeing kids my age go on the Race made me realize “if they can do it, so can I!”
Season 8 is SO UNDERRATED. I learned more about the States from that season than I did living here.
Season 7 was a great season to start watching. It was the first season I saw and it hooked me
I know it might be an exception, but TAR Australia Season 2 is one of the best seasons ever. The competitiveness and the dynamics of the characters are top-notch, which makes for a great season.
I've heard it's a great season. I want to know how you can watch it. I only ask because I haven't been able to find a copy of it online.
I have watched it in cable here in Asia, but try on Dailymotion or Vimeo? Possibly not the highest quality, but some Aussie shows are stored in there
@@arloga205 Okay I will try those out. And I will also make sure to ask others. You should also try to find how to watch it. I hope it works.
29 and 25 was my first seasons I watched
I’m a survivor fan just now getting into race seriously I watched 31 and 32 with my mom but that’s it yesterday I found out it’s on prime and am gonna really get into it and watch them all. Started with 7 bc I love rob and amber and I knew they were on there. 5 episodes in it’s really good!!
You should definitely watch the season Keith & Whitney were on - TAR25. It's such a good recent season that deserved better editing.
TAR 32 is trash imo because of the alliances that would plan on eliminating other teams that are not in top 3. So unfair!
@@KevinAbillGaming ikr! It was so petty watching the alliance eliminate DiAngelo and Gary
@@poptartthefourth7295 I've rooted them since the start of that season, and I felt heartbroken when they were eliminated in such an unfair manner. I'm never coming back to watch that ever again.
@@KevinAbillGaming don’t say that, season 32 was a very different season, mostly because of that alliance, but season 33 already looks like a different season than 32 so I think you’ll be fine
The Amazing Race 5 imo is the best season of reality tv in general.
Season 29 is a must watch!!
FYI, I heard the Survivor couple Keith and Whitney really connected after they were voted out but still on the island at Ponderosa. Married now I think.
I have only seen two complete seasons of Amazing Race season 7 and the one that Cody Nickson and Jessica Graf were on from Big Brother
My dream is to compete in the Amazing Race with my brother. I’m pretty confident we could win it. They could make an international version.
What country do you live in?
Samee it would be a dream-come-true to compete!! Are you auditioning for the next season?
Currently re-watching season 21 right now because I needed something good after that last season haha
32 was such a bummer.
My top 10
3,5,7,11,17,20,21,25,29,31
(No particular order)
Too bad season 5 premiered at a time when the internet is just beginning to take hold. It was so good it would have broken the internet! Oh well, we can just comfort ourselves that at that time it was able to break an ox 😉
Thank you for this. For a non stop reality show featuring something a lot of people enjoys (seriously, would you rather be stuck in an island or travel around the world?) and has won numerous awards as best reality competition show, it is terribly underrated and underrepresented here on TH-cam!
I Just watched season 21 for the first time. I gotta say it’s one of the best if not the best.
Not saying to watch in order, but I think that the first season is the best to start with.
Sooooooooo I have to go back here when I'm finished watching the whole show up to season 26 (I caught up with season 27-present so I'm just going to watch seasons 1-26) because I want to rank them.
But for me I think beginners or people new to the show needs to watch the seasons chronologically because for me every season is a "must-watch" and an "amazing" season
(To anyone wondering as of writing this comment I'm in season 18 episode 6)
12:55 fax because of Ron & Christina
The first season I ever whacked was season 20 with my mom over quarantine. We finished it the entire show by July
Yes! Season 5 is my favorite specifically Mirna and Charla
Can someone give me how can I see The Amazing race? I live in Italy and really it seems impossible to find it!
Season 7 was the first one I watched and immediately fell in love for the show.
** Uchenna and Joyce took a fast forward iirc, omg omg omg
SPOILER
I loved season 7!!! their win was so deserved
As an Amazing Race superfan, I know that the narrator is cautiously telling us info about the shows and racers that they don't want to mention bec. of spoilers, but still I know who they are referring to. Hahahahaha.

Charla and Mirna and Collin and Christie are the best! S5 is the best especially when they visit Egypt. And the first Egypt leg... 👌
season 2 is underrated
What about Season 33? Imo, it's not the worst, but also not the best season.
As you said, it's not the best.
I miss this show!
Hallo 🥰🥰 Vikram Sir plz your WhatsApp plz 🌹🥀🌻 baat karni hai aapse kuch
One that is really underrated in my opinion is Season 19
I really want to watch every season of TAR and Big Brother but I can’t because they aren’t available on CBS All Access in Canada. but I’ll listen to your recommendations even though I’ve watched most of the newer ones
I think I started on Season 27(?) All Stars and it’s really good so far
I know this video came out before this season but 33 is so good
Im gonna send this to my friends who havent watched the show
Where can you watch the old seasons? My impression was they weren't all on Paramount Plus like Survivor.
Paramount Plus currently has seasons 1-10 and 23-34. Lots of good seasons in that mix.
Which season travels to Argentina and episode
Many seasons visit Argentina. On the top of my head for the US version: Season 5 - episodes 2 and 3, Season 7 - episodes 3 and 4, Season 11 - episode 4, Season 16 - episode 3, Season 20 - episodes 1 and 2, Season 27 - episodes 2 and 3, and Season 36 - episode 6.
I'd love to have a country index so I can cherry pick . . watch Amazing Race but use it for a travelogue. Do you know where I can find that list? So far I've just been scrolling episodes on Hulu but many episodes don't say where the contestants are traveling.
amazingrace.fandom.com/wiki/The_Amazing_Race_(US)
Scroll down to countries and locales visited. You can click on any season and it will tell you which episode has which locations.
How many times do you get to play b ball w the Harlem Globetrotters? ~ Cowboys
What was the twist for Season 5? The Yield?
A penalty for non elimination legs (first 4 seasons has no penalty for non-elimination)
I'd say season 31 is the best to watch because of the reality show showdown between Survivor, Big Brother, & The Amazing Race.
Personally I think Season 7 is the best Season due to Rob and Amber’s strategical moves!
Honestly the only season I watched for now was 28 as it was coming out, because it had Burnie Burns and Ashley Jenkins in it
I just finished season 6 and saw pv of season 7. Now, would it be recommended that I watch the survivor seasons before watching season 7 of the amazing race or would it be fine watching the race without knowing about them before they entered the race?
The Amazing Race season 7 can be watched without seeing Survivor season 8, but it is so much better after having seen it.
@@OnceUponAnIsland k. Thanks for telling me.
Amazing Race and Survivor are both so ground breaking
I watched season 29 after you recommended it. It was a fun season, but I was disappointed in the winners. They were so whiny and argumentative the whole season. I was not rooting for them at all. I really liked the concept of pairing up with strangers. I hope they do it again in the future!
The winners of a TAR season aren't always the best. My fave was Team Fun.
5:27 anyone know it from diary of a wimpy kid
Malta is in that book?
@@OnceUponAnIsland yeah, it was book 12 I think. Greg had to do a project on it
@@phobiccobra991 lol that's what I thought about when he said Malta
9 is way better than 5!
Loved season 5 and 3
I miss so much the airport drama and the express passes
