CONGRATS on the 1 year anniversary! The Atari Flashback X is one nice looking system. And, wow, that Pacman remake is really NICE! And, yes, that's how I pronounce GNU as well :-)
Thanks Chris, it has been an interesting year, and we're looking forward to Season 2. BTW: I had to show Sparky this page to convince him, damn kids these days ;-) www.gnu.org/gnu/pronunciation.en.html
I noticed the Flashback joystick did not seem that responsive when I first used it. It seemed like the buttons were not being detected and the stick was not being read. I used it some more and it seemed to be working better. Maybe you have to wear them in a little bit.
Hey Tony, they have been busy in the last couple months and you can now emulate Atari 800 with this device. Check it out on AtariAge if you get a chance.
I notice that they changed the instructions on the AT Games firmware site. Now, you put the firmware on the usb drive and hook it up with the Y cable. Then, you start the system and it updates the firmware. I guess this is for later versions of the firmware. I'll have to try this and see if it works with the Atari Flashback X I am getting in the mail.
I disagree with the joystick comments. It appears the FB stick design has been relatively unchanged since at least fb2, making swapping parts easy for repairs. I like the screw in stick. The original VCS sticks were notorious for breaking at the nylon ring around the base of the internal stick. These are a win win imo, as they are more modular, modern parts, easy to fix, compatible with real 2600s
I'm sure they're using the old version of Stella because the games they include already work fine anyway. So why put forth the effort to upgrade it? And you're right, the cartridge port would be a perfect place to include an SD card slot as even a full size cart slot looks like one would fit. Anyway, I tend to avoid these later iterations of the Flashback since they rely on emulation instead of the 2600 on a chip.
I'm with you, if I'm going to play on an emulator I might as well just use my RetroPie which has the newest version of Stella and much better joysticks!
It might be under Public License. Yet and I might be wrong it doesn’t always mean a company can sell said item as it’s under public license. They instead have to make a deal with the creators of Stella.
I love the show, but it would be even more awesome if you could text the episodes (I think you can first get it autogenerated and then just correct the flaws). It would help binge-watching all your episodes a lot. Cause even thou the autogenerated text is fine it still adds the need for input from the viewer. Keep up the good work!
If you try to install the driver for the Flashback in Win10 now, it will not work. The android software will not detect the Flashback. You have to manually install the driver. After you do that, it detects it.
Does anyone know if the OTG hack for the Flashback X will work with the new Flashback 50th Anniversary Edition? I'm getting the 50th and would like to hack it to add and change games on it. Thanks!
As far as we know, there are currently no firmware updates for either model of the Flashback 50th Anniversary Edition to allow for the download of more games, but being physically based on the Flashback X hardware the potential is there.
Hi, I have the Flashback X (AR 3060) and am trying to download the firmware update (I want to add more games), but I am getting an error message that says 0.0.18 (3) img was blocked because this type of file can harm your device. Does anyone know if there is away around this or am I stuck with the system as is, not that there's anything wrong with that. Ps: I am in Australia Thanks guys
No excuse for not putting a bw switch on the front of the unit, as some games may use it as a function switch. The cart port is fake and only for looks, so either make it smaller or remove altogether and replace with an SD card slot and or USB port for your own roms, hacking, etc. Same goes for 50th anniversary
Tony, one note of slight criticism ... I don't think we need swearing in the bloopers. Maybe you could "bleep out" such words, then I'd be cool with it. I'm not a choir boy, the joystick humour is fine (we all need to know how to laugh !), and it's good to see that you like a stiff drink :-) ... but I try to set an example for my kids not to swear. I don't let them watch TH-cam videos that contain swearing, and likewise prefer not to watch such videos myself.
thank you for making this video! i really enjoyed watching it :)
Well done, 1 year on TH-cam and a great video to boot. I'm a huge fan of all these old systems, oh and a happy new year too... ;)
Thank you very much, and Happy New Year to you as well!
Yay! Only 9 subs left to 1000. Congrats in advance. 👍
Happy New Healthy Year!
Thank you Maria... we are watching with baited breath.. VERY EXCITING!!!!!

Yea make sparky play all those games! 🤣
I was never a fan of this console. But I'm now a fan of your channel :) Happy New Year, team!
Thank you @esseferio! Happy New Year to you as well
Hi! You could send a photo from PCB, especificaly of the button part ?
i used an atari 2600 controller with my flashback X and it worked

Did it work?
@@Kalle72 No. I had to do it the old way. You have to take it open. It might just update with usb after that.
@@krathoon2338 Same here! I had to do it “the old way” as well :)

games are not listed alphabetically on my console. I do not understand. Can you help me?

where do i download more games like pacman etc.

SC, that's actually a very good suggestion. Thanks for the feedback. 👍
Tony, nice video. Hey, you remind me of Columbo. Is that coincidental, or do you style yourself upon him?

The "support" link on the Atgames doesn't work now.
I've reported this, we'll see what (if anything) happens. It's also on the Wayback Machine.

Tony, I also like your video where you made your Commodore 1702 mini monitor: th-cam.com/video/3oaNQgtJkFw/w-d-xo.html
Is there a way without taking it apart?
Not that we have found on this version of the console.

Is Sparky real? 🤔
Sparky is real, Tony is imaginary 😄
Where's Pac Man
