As someone who has lived in two different countries, sometimes I have to change the way I speak in correlation to whatever country I'm in to match the locals. He's probably just rolling off the guy's accent and their location, given the fact he grew up not in NYC and he even speaks more languages than one.

His family is English and he spent his early childhood there, I'm assuming that everytime he visits for a prolonged period of time his accent regresses back to it's English roots, same with all of my English family and friends when they leave the States and go back to the UK
