The Kamakhya Temple is located atop the Nilachal Hill in the western part of Guwahati, the capital city of Assam. It is one of the oldest of the 51 Shakti Peethas (shrines) in India, where body parts of the Goddess Sati fell after Lord Shiva danced with her corpse.
