Session 3: Two States? Modern Day Israel History

This was the third session in The Empowered Jew’s Four-Part Series, offered to the Sydney Jewish community to equip participants with the knowledge, skills, and tools needed to navigate today’s challenges and become an Empowered Jew.
Session 3, held on Wednesday, 18 September 2024, we had the privilege of hearing from Dr. Ron Weiser AM, a distinguished leader in the Jewish community. With extensive expertise and dedication, Ron holds numerous significant positions, including Member of the Board of Governors of the Jewish Agency (The Sochnut), Life Member of the Zionist Federation of Australia Executive, and Hon. Life President of the Zionist Council of NSW. His legacy includes a decade as President of the Zionist Federation of Australia and contributions as a founding director for initiatives such as the Y2i Year 10 Israel project, SAJE (Sydney Academy of Jewish Education), the Online Hate Prevention Institute (OHPI), and the Australian Friends of Feuerstein.
During this session, he provided a thorough and insightful overview of Israel’s modern history, enhancing our understanding of its complex evolution and current challenges.
Session 4, held on Wednesday, 25 September 2024, was led by Lynda Ben-Menashe and focused on practical skills for navigating uncomfortable conversations. Lynda, President of the National Council of Jewish Women Australia, has served the Australian Jewish community for 15 years, including roles with the Executive Council of Australian Jewry and the NSW Jewish Board of Deputies as Head of Engagement.
