The screaming really captures grief and the feeling of not being able to escape what you’re going through. The tight throat and tense mouth which comes with the hopeless feeling of extreme sadness.
The screaming made the robotic, electronic, autotuned song so raw and real. It's like Ghost in the Shell; the robotic exterior and a raw, painful, passionate scream on the inside. It's like the "screams internally" meme lol. She describes how she feels with her words and poetry, but the scream *shows* you how all of it feels together, like an agonizing scream. It also sounds metal as fuck.
In my perception, the screams of Caroline represent the pain and the ache, then it is drained by tears. Finally the Pain comes out in the Outro and then it comes the bright light of peace, joy and relief
Love it, was jogging to this album and became short of breath and started crying at this song. X ordinarily I would not find this song emotional but there was a band of existence that Charli XCX and Caroline and I were in that time and I appreciated it. X
the post-chorus “tears are rolling down my face, holding on until we break” and “i can feel my body ache, tears are rolling down my face” ... the feeling that those lyrics give me are indescribable.. charli really knows how to write sad songs

easily the best song of the mixtape; sonically and conceptually achieved everything it intended to; so emotionally profound and hurtful, yet devastatingly beautiful; a song to cry while dancing or dance while crying
I think dissonance is amazing sometimes if u know how to use it. Charli did a great job on this new material, she's experimenting a lot with different textures and colours. Very creative, and i appreciate it. I think that working with SOPHIE influenced her a lot.
The new Queen of pop continues to blow me away with her subtlety, sensitivity and sheer songwriting genius. I don't ever even know which Charli to listen to but I THANK her for giving me and my kitten the strength to get through many long drives and lonely nights. Sorry everyone else but you're not Charli XCX and you never will be. Angels, I'm with you.
PC music has never been inside the box. They all boost each other. The screams get the pain across! But it also sounds funny 😂 but I don't think I ever heard anyone wail in pain like that it was so prolonged and mixed so different
Am I the only one who has tears running down my face every time they hear this song? Like not crying, but just tears running. Also I love the screeching in the background, I make that noise a lot at work...
Most underrated Pop 2 track IMO. And it introduced me to miss Caroline Polachek. Don't sleep on her guys! Check out Ocean of Tears, Door, and Parachute. Very chill music with interesting production...also her voice is like a fucking fine tuned instrument! It's almost unnatural. Very cool artist. I can see why Charli would ask her to collaborate.
just discovered pop 2 like days before new year and this is the first song that got my mind stuck in a loop. the production is so good that i play it first wherever i go before finally shuffling my playlist. the part where caroline's voice is distorted before the final line, legitimately the definition of pop perfection!
Hard to even express how intense this hits me. On one hand it makes me feel intensely turned on and excited (those screams!!! and the autotune solo at the end), on the other hand deeply melancholic and alienated. How does one manage to integrate paradoxical feelings like these inside a work? - Charli and her team are definitely connected to the SOURCE
The end, the last "go" and the guitar note fading, it gives me chest pressure I swear, on the other hand the song reminds me of when I was like 12, 13, and 14, school days, that girl that I liked so much on the other class that I've never heard the voice of, that I remember searching on Instagram and her friends Instagrams to see if she was somewhere, nope, wasn't anywhere, when both our class and her went on a excursion on an old town and I just couldn't help but look at her, when I didn't know how hard life turns out to be, those days, idk why it just does, mabye its because at the end of the song I feel something hard to explain, as I did back then when I saw her, or even heard of her beautiful name "Ona" I'll never forget her, idk what made me feel that way for her, all I know is that I felt it, same happens with this song, idk why it makes me feel in such a way, but it makes me I know that.
OMG that screaming is so fucking perfect shiiiiit it's like I can feel the pain OMGGGGGGG and when she says "that ain't love" and starts screaming made me feel so fucking nostalgic about the relationship i've never had. FUCKING AWESOME, hope more songs have this kind of surprises that turns into EVERYTHING. So fucking emotional, so fucking intimate, so fucking Charli XCX. 💕 P.S. I yelled with her tho.
This was one of my least fav tracks when pop2 came out... but then i’ve been obsessed with caroline for a while... i look back to this and really get it now ❤️ this is iconic. we love you. skinny legends.
that's it, i'm going through all of Pop 2 and tracking down the body of work of every single featured artist on here. that's just it. everyone on this whole album is iconic as hell
Pop 2 produces the same vibes that most contemporary pop music would if you heard it playing from an early iPod on a frozen corpse in the otherwise silent ruins of human civilization.
The distorted screams at the begining sound like a sample from Ramleh, Hole in the Heart. Specifically the begining of Bite the Bolster..... am I insane in thinking this?

I think this is a landmark album. PC music and Charli's magnum opus is going to be blueprint for future pop artists.

[Verse 1: Caroline Polachek]
See through my eyes
Right down to where I fall apart
Wish me luck, wish me luck
