There Is A Time -- written by: Rodney Dillard & Mitchell Jayne Covered for the sake of music itself. There is an outstanding performance of this on one of the episodes of the old Andy GrIffith Show.
~ THERE IS A TIME ~ There is a time for love and laughter The days will pass like summer storms The winter wind will follow after But there is love and love is warm (Chorus) ~ There is a time for us to wander When time is young and so are we The woods are greener over yonder The path is new and the world is free There is a time when leaves are fallin’ The woods are gray the paths are old The snow will come when geese are callin’ You need a fire against the cold (Chorus) So do your roaming in the springtime And you’ll find your love in the summer sun The frost will come and bring the harvest And you can sleep when the day is done (Chorus) Time is like a river flowin' With no regrets as it moves on Around each bend the shining mooring And all the friends you thought were gone (Chorus)
Awesome brother! I've played Dooley quite a few times but never tried this one! You have inspired me to give this one a go!! Keep on rocking bro and I've scribed to ya!!🤠🎸🦅🎸🦅
Thank you very much, friend! Yes, I remember that episode. Andy was so impressed by it that he had to stop strumming and just listen. Once again, thank you for listening, Dan!
Was looking for a good cover using finger style! The original had so much variety with all the instruments and I think just doing your basic strumming doesn’t do the song justice. This is great
Fine job. I notice on the Andy Griffith Show, 1st or 2nd season, Andy was playing this song on his porch while humming it. Then a season or 2 later was when Charlene sang it and Andy seemed to have never heard it before.
I am pleased once again to see your wonderful video! This video is very interesting music. I enjoyed listening to this beautiful song and your guitar playing. Super class! Thank you for your views my videos and your comments on them.
Excellent job on this cover sir. Your speed on it reminds me alot of how Andy sang it on his show. Wish there was a full recording of him doing it but yours is great!
This is very good :) Would you consider creating a tutorial teaching how to play this song? I have always loved the song and would love to learn to play it on guitar! Thank you
Chloe, I thank you so very much for taking most limited time to listen to and comment on my efforts. I've had others, in the past, ask me to do tutorials...but...I must be honest...I don't even know where to begin to do such a thing. I'd like to, I really would. Perhaps someday I can figure out how to do it. Thank you so much for asking.
Is this the song you posted this morning Steve? I listened to the one that I was notified about this morning. This one is very nice but I don't think it's the one I heard. I loved the other one but can't locate it. Have a great day!
Great song. I play this sometimes with some people at our jam get together's. Well written song. Great job. I see you have capo on 2nd fret. What chord are your chord progressions? I like it! Like it better than the chords we play. I watched..but am not sure. lol.
Ive spent quite a bit of time on youtube looking for the best version of this song to play and this is the one. do you mind telling me what pick pattern you use? I cant quite see your picking hand and I dont have a good enough ear to figure it out. I would greatly appreciate it.
Hi James. I am truly humbled and grateful for your gracious comment. However, I honestly am not sure if I can explain what the pattern is. I just don't know how to word it. To admit as much, is embarrassing, but I'm being honest bout it.
~ THERE IS A TIME ~
There is a time for love and laughter
The days will pass like summer storms
The winter wind will follow after
But there is love and love is warm
(Chorus) ~ There is a time for us to wander
When time is young and so are we
The woods are greener over yonder
The path is new and the world is free
There is a time when leaves are fallin’
The woods are gray the paths are old
The snow will come when geese are callin’
You need a fire against the cold
(Chorus)
So do your roaming in the springtime
And you’ll find your love in the summer sun
The frost will come and bring the harvest
And you can sleep when the day is done
(Chorus)
Time is like a river flowin'
With no regrets as it moves on
Around each bend the shining mooring
And all the friends you thought were gone
(Chorus)
Thank you for posting the lyrics to this most meaningful song.

Lisa Kay Hi Lisa. I haven't posted a song this morning lol Thank you though
very nice Steve
Thank you Shane
Great song. I play this sometimes with some people at our jam get together's. Well written song. Great job. I see you have capo on 2nd fret. What chord are your chord progressions? I like it! Like it better than the chords we play. I watched..but am not sure. lol.
Thanks very much. If the capo was on the second fret I was most likely playing in the C chord which, with the 2nd fret capoed...would be the key of D
Thanks! Love your version.
I sure do appreciate it :)
Capo 2nd fret in A minor, not C.
Great performance Steve! :)
I do, most certainly, appreciate it, Sandra.
great song Steve
