Sigue Sigue Sputnik! I am 52.. a child of the 1980s.. saw the record "Flaunt It" one time and bought it based on looks alone and was not disappointed.. Tommy Countach has impressive knowledge if he knows SSS
The sound is absolutely unique and marvelous. Your technique for playing live is fantastic. Watching you brings so much joy. Thanks for letting us part of it.
@@tommy.countach In my all-time-mp3-playlist I have a genre "Italo-Disco", that I define as "synth-based disco music from '80-'89", and then I have a genre "New Italo". Italo-Disco had it's peak around '85 with songs like "Daniela Poggi - Cielo", so it's definately an 80s-thing. Since '85 was a change in style from LOFI into more high budget, which I consider as "Euro-Disco", because that's typical for acts like "Modern Talking" and "Silent Circle". But that's for sure very simular, so for me it's still Italo. Interestingly my first "New Italo" Song in my Playlist is from 2001 and then again 2008. So for some reason over a period of 20-30 years, nobody seemed to like Italo.
Thanks for the insight thats very interesting :) i like in particular italo from late 80s and early 90s. In the transition period, the sounds were very exciting imho! True euro disco modern italo is probably what i enjoy the most 🤠
@tommy.countach you seem to be able to master many genres... this is not a bad thing!! I just discover you 2 or 3 days ago.. it was your looks first drew me in.. Your hair says "80s glam metal".. style of clothes.... varied... Your studio and gear is rad bro.. I was laughing at how "teen friendly" and syrupy sweet, teeny bop pop sound of some of your songs. Positive emotions are needed in the world lately.. it's refreshing not to have violence and or "bitches and ho's" rap garbage. I send you big love from Florida, USA!! ❤
@@hanspeters1796agree alot with your observations on euro and italo disco! Yes I like the period from 1981-1988/1989. You said a switch happened in 1985.. never thought of that but yes. And then in 1990 it became eurohouse which I didn't like as much. And of course early 1990s, more digital and MIDI gear was coming on to the market. So then we had the music of like Culture Beat, La Bouche, Real McCoy. I tire of that style soon but it's not bad.. You guys are lucky to be European... I am born in America... people are becoming dumber over here and I want to escape to your areas lol.. The 1980s italo disco period, this music was never popular here. Or known very much... So with the advent of the WWW/internet and TH-cam I was able to discover the wonderful disco of 1980s Europe.. I first discovered italodisco around 2001/2002. I found alot of ZYX Records compilations "Italo Boot Mix" and other various artist. And I fall in love with this! There were a very few "italodisco" type songs to become popular hits here. One good example is "Tarzan Boy" by Baltimora (1986).. Even Modern Talking and Dieter Bohlen was never popular in America...
Deluxe! This is awesome. Reminds me a bit of Sigue Sigue Sputnik. I mean this as a compliment!!!
Thanks a lot! I‘m happy you write that, i love their music 😊🖤
