    Thanks for your honest video about how much you actually find. Some people make it look so easy that you get a false sense of what prospecting is really about.

    Hey, thank you for continuing to show us new guys and gals the realities of gold prospecting. I have followed your channel since the onset and have found a bit more gold than I would have if I had not gotten tips from your channel and others. Thanks again for keeping us going!

    Thoroughly enjoyed this video. It's good to see how hard it really is in finding gold. I'd rather have honesty than watch a "salted" video anytime. :)

    Thank you for all the great instruction. I am a retired guy, big hunter and camping guy that is looking for something other than hunting because I won't waste meat and can only eat so much game. I'm going to learn to pan while fishing. Much quieter and peaceful.

    great advice , think thats a good way of prospcting but how do you know there not a better catchment of gold further up or down the river before disguarding the river all together.. but overall i`ll give this video a big thumbs up, an thanks for sharing once again... regards from scotland

      @HowToDrillAWell  10 ปีที่แล้ว +5

      Well, of course occasionally there is but it won't be RIGHT upriver because no river catchment system is that perfect except a lake. It won't be downriver until after some other source has been passed, such as another tributary and so on - which I would test again if there is access. You need check it no more than once a mile in general. And if you test it, say, 5 miles apart, and find nothing, it is highly unlikely that the middle part would be better.

    I used to prospect with my dad when he was alive 6” suction dredge and twin 6’ sluice boxes largest find was a 7 gram nugget
    In the last 22 years since he passed it’s gotten harder with river access denied by landowners

    I've been trying to figure out where I can pan on public land for free and be able to keep what I find and sell it. However everywhere I look to find out the legalities of it it takes me back to staking claims and mining. Can you tell me how I find out where I can recreationally pan and still sell what I find?

    • @HowToDrillAWell
      @HowToDrillAWell  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Anywhere that has significant public land will have a forest service or BLM office; go there and tell them what you're doing, they'll tell you what's what.

    Is gold found in all states ?

    • @nathanielburson8929
      @nathanielburson8929 5 ปีที่แล้ว

      Technically yes, in sufficient quantities to notice, no. Mostly it's in places you already associate with gold, like California, Colorado, Alaska, and so on, and almost always in mountainous areas.

      It's hard work, sampling like this not so much, but regular gold prospecting, if you do it to actually find gold, can be backbreaking.

    • @35ABSTRACT
      @35ABSTRACT 7 ปีที่แล้ว

      Chris, I'm certain I know the meaning and correct spelling of what you originally meant and no clue of what a "spiel" is, but I'm also certain I can at times be an annoying grammar cop, full of self-righteousness at the time but later on - usually after a delayed reply - feel like a know-it-all jerk with too much time on my hands. Regardless of our grammar differences, you can't be too bad of a guy because we obviously have similar interests and hang out, electronically, at the same places. Wanna go prospecting together sometime?

  • @Redragonfieldofgreen

    You wanna dig closer to the bedrock to find good gold

    • @nathanielburson8929
      @nathanielburson8929 6 ปีที่แล้ว

      Yes, I know that - my other videos harp on that no end - but when sampling an area, it isn't always possible to spend the time to get down to the bedrock just to find out if an area is gold bearing.

      Under bridges and roadways are also an exception to being able to claim.
