🔺 Our Mission 🔺
Founded in 1997 in Cedar City Utah, we are a 501c3 non-profit organization dedicated to wildlife rescue, rehabilitation and education.
Rescue, Rehabilitate and Release
The Southwest Wildlife Foundation of Utah (SWF) cares for more than 100 sick, injured and orphaned native wildlife annually. Restoring them to health and returning them to the wild is our primary goal.
Informing, Educating and Inspiring
The SWF provides over 100 educational programs reaching over 30,000 people annually. We believe providing educational outreach programs to schools, scout groups and community events, with focus on children and families, will make the greatest impact in preserving our wildlife, the environment, our public lands and our resources for future generations to enjoy.
Martin Tyner
Since age twelve, with a bird on his arm, Martin has captivated audiences sharing his knowledge and experience of his wildlife friends.
At age nineteen, Martin was hired as curator of birds of prey at Busch Gardens, CA. He also worked in the movie and television industry training big cats, elephants, primates, sea mammals and raptors.
“One of my greatest childhood fantasies was the desire to create a personal friendship with a wild eagle. I found myself with a love and fascination for these powerful creatures.”
Martin Tyner is a federally licensed falconer, eagle falconer, wildlife rehabilitator, wildlife propagator, and wildlife and environmental educator.
He has been providing wildlife and environmental programs throughout the western United States, to schools, scouts and community groups for over fifty years.
“Grandpa believed in a very simple philosophy; that a person should get up every morning and do good. Doing good means that you do well for others and doing well means that you do good for yourself. There is nothing wrong with doing well, but Grandpa always believed in doing good.”
Martin's book, Healer of Angels, reflects back on his life: from a young boy terrified of birds to becoming the first man in North America licensed to train a wild golden eagle in the ancient art of falconry.
Through a heartwarming collection of true stories he describes his challenging transformation from a shy dyslexic teenager, to the founder and CEO of the Southwest Wildlife Foundation.

Another one back to the wild, where it belongs. GJ. 👍
@@bloeckmoep It's so rewarding and agree with you.
Hiya BM!
Does the release make all the hell they put you through worth it?
@@FennecTECH I really think that this is quite inappropriate inquiry as they have done this for over 50 plus years. It's never hell; it's like a special haven for the wildlife and them. I will not answer any response. My time is too valuable helping others.
Horray Martin, you did it again saving another beautiful eagle. He's a lucky young sub-adult. How is the eagle with the handmade shoes? This story was truly incredible!!
Love what you do Martin, for these majestic birds, and they don't seem to panic
at all when you hold them -- almost like they sense your not going to harm them.
Should be more people like you. Great feisty looking young male.
A lot of that stems from how he handles them; a lot of animals in my experience won't fight back if they don't feel that they have a way to escape. Martin holds them in such a way that they *can't* easily fight back. I can bet that if he didn't handle them in such a manner they'd be a lot more feisty.
It's an example of the incredible understanding he has of the animals he rescues.
@@jacobmoriancumer7588 you could be very
well right Jacob, but he sure has a way of
handling them. The eagles don't even try
to gouge Martin with their beaks.
The animals are very stressed but they don't move around a lot because Martin controls them using various techniques. More here: th-cam.com/video/MAwQQbDL5CU/w-d-xo.html
Love the way this man handles the eagles, such care and compassion
Thank you Sue and Martin for all your years of dedication to these beautiful animals of all types.💕 God bless you and keep you
Thank you for your support!
Another beautiful eagle returned to the wild. Thank you Martin and Susan 🙏
We hope this eagle is doing well!
You guys have great wings of your own! May God bless you both for all you do in service of Him. Beautiful Golden Eagle. He sends them to you through others knowing you both are loving and devoted healers.
✝️🙏🏼💫❤⚘🌟🦅🇺🇸
Thank you Betty!
Thank you for the tip about the eyes. I didn't realize their eye color changed as they grow up. I'm so glad it was only a concussion and not anything more serious. Thank you so very much!
Glad you found it helpful!
Another wonderful successful release of such majestic bird in a true wilderness location. TY Susan and Martin for helping all "critters". May God continue to bless you all. I look so forward to any of your vids and such detailed info. If all humans shared your compassion for wildlife, what a world of love that we would have. Love all that you do. Tell Kate hi!
Thanks for watching!
Susan and Martin another great rescue recovery and release. Fantastic!
Best part!
The Raven came to welcome the new boy home ! Great work once again, Martin. Thank you for helping this beautiful eagle.
Thanks Mark!
A video with Martin, Susan, and critters is just what I needed; my mental health has not been the best lately. Thank you all for everything.
We hope you are feeling better
Lucky eagle, lovely to see.
We hope he's doing well!
Great rescue, but I did love Susan capturing that raven checking things out. Curious birds.
Quite an eye!
Might be small but still quite huge! Glad the feisty baby made a recovery.
Yep
What a beautiful bird. So great he was able to get better and be released. Beautiful, moody vista.
Releases are the best part!
Relax kiddo you r with Martin nothing can go wrong now🍀🍀🍀🍀💝💝💝💝💕
Beautiful resque/ release, another one back where it belongs. Super.🇳🇱🌬💞
Yep!
Nice to see this beautiful bird recovering .. 😁😁
Back in the wild!
Never get tired of releases and success stories. Keep ‘em coming! Thanks Martin and Susan 🦅💕
We don't either!
This man is out of this world.
Thank you Brian, we appreciate your interest
Welcome back Martin..🧚♂️🧚♀️🧚♀️🧚🧚

My goodness ,,, you both are god's angels on the ground ... Thank you .
He call him Healer of Angels...
God has given us a man to look after his creatures thank you Martin
Thank you Walter, a whole lot of people help us help critters!
So wonderful that this young male eagle survived, Martin! Thanks to you!!! Another awesome video and so great to see him released back into the wild blue yonder! On to live another day and hopefully, eventually, have young of his own!
Glad you enjoyed!
he so beautiful
Agreed!
Beautiful young golden ! 👍👌👍👌👍👌😍
Agreed!
Beautiful location for a release of Golden Eagle.
Agreed!
Both you do an awesome job Susan
I saw a previous one recently - that 3 yr old eagle had a concussion from being hit by a car too. Martin explained that eagle had a full crop and had a hard time flying. That's how that other one got hit..... LOL, it was THIS one! ......Thank you, Martin and Susan. Always touches my heart to watch your videos. I've had to contend with a lot of corruption in my life so haven't had much time to YT surf. I usually select long movies or music, to work on papers. 😁
Glad you enjoyed!
Thank goodness for people like you Sir 'God Bless'.
You Are An Angel.!!! All The Blessings From Poland !!!!
Thank you, greetings back to Poland!
He is very handsome
Agreed!
Congratulations
Dang! The scenery! Another successful release.
Back in the wild!
nice work sir ..
Thanks for watching!
I was awakened by the sound of a great horned owl this morning! Lots of babies on my property, turkeys, rabbits, quail!
Nice!
you do amazing work. Susan
Such a beautiful creature!!!
wonderful !! yes, he had eaten a lot before the release !!!
Plenty to leave with!
1:20 that is just the most adorable face to me. Thanks for helping this young eagle out.
Bless you for all you do for these magnificent birds! ❤️🙏
Thanks Carol!
I love the way you go into these. You may not be able to save all of them but you can sure as hell try Keep fighting the good fight man!
That's the plan...
Very beautiful as always. The release videos are always the best!
Releases are the best part!
Another happy release. Yay!
Agreed!
He saved many birds. Especially as eagles, that needs much of knowledges how to handle eagles. He saved, take care of it until it completely healed patiently, then will settled it for free. It needs much of the compassion, kindness accompanied with patience. Also needs responsibilities too. It’s amazing.
Your so sweet with him 🥹 ‘okay kiddo’.
Man I would love to volunteer to help these animals.
Although I'm not happy to see a bird get hurt, I am happy to see golden eagle up close. I just love these beautiful birds! I would love a T-shirt with one on it as you make gorgeous photos. But you don't have that in the shop :(
Yep, better we never saw him!
You are amazing !!
Eagles are amazing!
Bravo
Great Job guys!
Thank you!
What a beautiful bird! Thank you for your effort! 😃👍
People get behind this man and give him some money
Please, every cent funded through TH-cam goes directly to them to help all their critters! They are always in need of prey for the kiddos. Nothing is every wasted but for their rescued animals. TY for this friendly reminder, Karen. You are so kind.
Wonderful! Your videos are so heartwarming, and educational! Thank you for showing these magnificent birds up close. It looks like the vast majority of the injuries you deal with sadly are human collisions of some type. What amazing and wonderful work you do!
Gorgeous!
Looked like he wanted a souvenir from the 5 star hotel. I don't think I realized before that you must like riding a motorcycle. My husband really misses his, but so far is listening to the 'no' from wife and health.
I bet you would enjoy Scott Jacobs Art Studio channel and Twitter Account. He has a Facebook acct too - but many of us are fed up with Facebook because of the corrupted way it's managed.
As someone whose life has been reduced to ashes due to concussions, to see someone devote to giving these beings all the time and care the need to rejoin life makes me long for something similar for beings of of this species who have lost so much due to head injuries.
I love all of your videos. Thanks for you and your wife taking extra care of this wonderful wildlife. I have a question for you or one of your subscribers, what can we do to help with the strong wind noises? I am willing to purchase what ever they need for the microphones to at least cut some of the wind noise down.
You always make catching and handling these guys look so easy. Which shows your immense experience. When I have watched eagles caught on some TV shows, I have seen them being chased and chased with towels in order to catch them. I have always thought this was just a matter of person preference, but when I see you netting without having to traumatize eagles for prolonged times, it's made me wonder. Do you have an explanation of why some others prefer the longer, more stressful (I think) method of using towels? My only rationale is because of less likely feather damage?
Many ways to go about it...
Nice work Martin!
Awesome video, as always. It made my day❤
🕊💕
LLENAIS EL ALMA
Soar....im gonna park right here and forget flying...im cool right here. - the sub adult golden. Loved this release. Very uncommonly cool
They all have their ways...
🥰
It’s like the Eagle knows you’re there to help.
Martin is like a healer and has the patience, voice of a whisperer of wildlife, especially raptors.
It is very stressful for the eagle.
🙏❤
That plastic bag shows why people shouldn't litter🤗💛
5:44 Who made that noise? My parents had a standard poodle. His name was Alex but I called him Poodle.
💐💐💕💕💕💙
👍 🦅😃
A Golden eagle can most definitely fly with a full crop. I think that this eagle has a bone fracture somewhere that’s why it couldn’t fly away and literally crashed landed. I don’t reckon it will survive
at 05:45, was that belle making her presence known ?.
Pretty much every second of every day...
Is there any reason yall release them in a certain area? Just a better chance where yall release from?
From viewing other vids, Martin likes this place as no highways, people, very wild area in nature where bird can rest like this one did due to full crop of food and relax some before taking off. He may find a rabbit, rat, snake or something that has died in nature to partake. He tries to get them away from highway traffic for better success of living. It is truly a wilderness delight. You hav a really great question.
Martin releases them in safe locations to give them a chance to get their bearings. Since they fly, pretty easy to get where they want to be.
I have a couple of questions. That golden eagle upon release so they realize where that at before it got injured? And do eagles drink water or do they get there moisture from the meat they eat ?
I'm not Enoch Wildlife rescue but yes, they do drink water. They get most of the moisture from the food they eat, but will sometimes drink freshwater if available.
@@goldeneagle8740 @Roy's Place - That's nice of you to jump in. Though I've seen Martin and Susan Tyner relocate traumatized eagles, here's a bit of information:
An average territory is about 1 mile in diameter, though in areas where food is harder to find, territories may be larger than in areas where food is abundant. A territory can only have one active nest at a time.

Dandy? LOL! Yes, he does look dandy!

Is it a risk releasing them in an area that they are nit familiar with and already taken by other BOP?? Thank you for ol you do!! BOP ANGEL 😇 ❤
? Why does the bird remain so calm once you have there legs, I would think they would attack with their beaks and even their talons.
From what Susan and Martin have taught me, when an animal is injured they don't fight back. This one having a concussion would be so vulnerable if left in wild. If they are okay, yes, the bird would have flown away. In his captivity, he is in human's domain and still wild, but Marin knows exactly how to capture with net and control the legs/talons. Yes, if he did not net properly and know how to control the wings, body and feet, ALL in ONE fast swoop, it would attack him. Once he has legs/talons, birds may flap wings, but, again, Martin just knows how to handle him. Much strength is needed by Martin to subdue. It is an art and science that Martin has been doing for 50 plus years. I hope this helps. I like to help others as i learn much as well.
The animals are very stressed but they don't move around a lot because Martin controls them using various techniques. More here: th-cam.com/video/MAwQQbDL5CU/w-d-xo.html
Please get a sound filter for your camera - the wind noise is really bad
It did not so much fly as plummit !
He had a full crop/belly from breakfast. He probably thought he was in heaven for raptors with Susan and Martin's great buffet for three weeks. Poor kiddos did fall right down. He probably hasn't had full crop since parents fed him. It's hard been a young raptor.
Not quite ready to take to the air...
Was this eagle prepared to fly halfway across the world?
He’s been doing this for 50 years he knows when the eagles are ready
Given the dodgy landing after that very short flight, I'm concerned that perhaps those tail feathers were too damaged for him to fly properly...
Is this Scout?
No, Scout isn't a juvenile. also why would Martin take scout near a highway where he could be hit by a car?
@@goldeneagle8740 I See not so good with my Eyes
@@m.t8972 Its ok, it's hard to tell the difference between an adult and juvenile golden eagle sometimes
@@goldeneagle8740 yes thats true
Scout has been with Susan and Martin about 16 years. It's not easy to tell the difference as both are Golden Eagles, but this is sub-adult. It's good question as we all learn from each other.
He’s dead..
what a grip !
Yep
