The legendary Allen Toussaint who produced Frankie's album High Life and wrote 7 out of it's 12 songs said that Frankie Miller had the most soulful voice of anyone he had ever worked with ... and that is coming from a man who , over the course of his career wrote and/or produced literally hundreds of songs for many of the best artists not just from New Orleans , but the rest of the USA as well.. if anyone would know - he would !!!
I have followed Frankie from the middle 70s as I used to work with his now ex brother in law, and he was brilliant live, the concert in Glasgow city halls in 1978 was great with his best pal the big yin (Billy Connolly) in attendance. He fell ill in 1994 and was in a coma but he managed to battle back but can no longer perform his skills. He was always at war with his record company over musical differences and this contributed to less exposure, He was better thought of in America than uk
I agree when you state “UK” but haven’t we Scots always loved Frankie? He’s a legend in Scotland 🏴 and, in my opinion, always been admired by his fellow Scots, musicians, and other celebrities. Yes, Billy Connolly, for whom my son worked as security a while back, has always had high praise for him. However, we all know that Frankie didn’t rise to the heights as he was always true to his music and didn’t pander to record company pressure to push out the pulp some artists do. The album “Frankie Miller’s Double Take” showed what a fabulous songwriter he was with songs we’d never heard before. We were fortunate that Frankie and his wife had such a wealth of demos to share. Hopefully, there’ll be a follow up album as he’s still attracting new fans via the ‘millera’ channel.
@@aliciarobertson4979 He is my hero, I met him in McKinnons Bar in the gallowgate Glasgow courtesy of his brother in law, what a day we had, I'll never forget it, Andy Cameron was there and he had just reached the top with Ally's Army 1978 World Cup song 🎵 and the patter was flowing from the slagging they were doing to each other in a jovial way. He was a gifted singer and a gifted songwriter.

Dear Frankie, you are my favorite singer. Love you. I am a pianist and singer myself. You are a great inspiration and love to me. I know what I am talking about. Frankie was born and bred in Brig'ton, Glasgow. A lifelong Celtic fan but I'll forgive him that. On 24th August 1994 in New York where he and his wife, Annette were meeting with Joe, shit I forget his second name, was with the Eagles, Frankie went to bed and suffered a massive brain hemmorage. He was in a coma for five months and when he woke up he had to learn to talk , walk, everything again. Sadly this robbed the world of his amazing voice but he came thru it, nursed by his absolute gem of a wife who is still with Frankie all these years later.
