Racism runs rampant in the real estate industry. I discovered this very soon after becoming a realtor. I ended up resigning from being a realtor because I got fed up with the job discrimination against African American realtors and the obvious segregtation in many of America's neighborhoods. The problem is, the vast majority of people who can afford to purchase homes are white and they only hire white real estate agents. Race-based hiring practices in the real estate industry is the greatest challege for realtors of color. Many African American realtors leave the industry because few people will hire African Americans to represent them in a real esate transaction. How long are things going to be this way in America? Grown adults, still choosing people, as though they were choosing teammates for school sports, based on shallow attributes. For everything you need to do in this life, you don't have to choose people who look like you and remind you of yourself.
My daughter lives in that neighborhood. It's obvious when you're driving up and down the neighborhood that there are a lot of black families but it's also a neighborhood. They have many events that celebrate the different cultures. The homeowners seem to care about keeping up their property and the esthetics of the neighborhood. This is a beautiful neighborhood and anyone of any race who can afford to live there will feel like they've hit the jackpot.
You can sell your home for whatever you want. If you put your price too high, no one will buy it. If you're doing this to borrow more money, it's a fool's move
They are getting totally ripped off. But you're right about avoiding a 2nd on your house. That's the beginning of another nightmare. Don't do it, folks!
I could surely use one of those biased appraisers right about now to appraise my home for my tax appeal im working on because the county is lying about their assessment of my home thus the taxes they are charging me.
Don't see how anyone loses anything on a crappy appraisal, and the fact they had to make changes to get a different appraisal . All I could see is a downside where some fool borrows more against their house.
You missed the entire point. On purpose, probably. That gap in the difference of appraisals after simply removing photos from the home is alarming. Same neighborhood. Same house. But when the photos are removed, there is a different price. Shameful.
@@kli9005 yes I’ve seen it myself and I’m white. Appraisal are very localized. If you remodel your house last year, and your neighbor remodels this year, you can have wildly different appraisals.
Nice try but it’s not nearly as rampant in white communities. Happened to me in my John Weiland “fancy” neighborhood. 15 miles up the street, in a predominantly white community, my exact home (same plan) is valued at 40% more and the schools are worse and crime rates in both placed are extremely low, so it’s not a school system or crime thing - it’s redlining and the devaluation of minority neighborhood homes.
They provided literally no actual evidence of racial discrimination. They just got a low appraisal and immediately jumped to the conclusion it was due to race. As someone who used to work in mortgage banking I saw appraisers all the time give appraisals that were way too low as well as way too high to people of all races. Appraisers aren’t perfect and like any other profession some aren’t good at their job. At the end of the day an appraisal is just a appraiser’s opinion of the value and sometimes opinions are wrong. Just because they aren’t good at their job and gave someone an inaccurate estimate does not mean race had anything to do with it.
If the appraisal is 30% higher when for white family vs black for the same home, that is discrimination. They proved that! This is not an isolated issue but happens all over.
@@kli9005 They provided no evidence that the lower appraisal was in any way connected to race. Just because one appraiser gave them a lower estimate than the other does not mean that the first appraiser had any sort of discriminatory intent. He might have been bad at his job but that does not mean he’s racist. These cases of an appraiser being ridiculously off the actual market value are rare but there is no statistical proof that it happens more to black families. Just because it fits a preconceived narrative you hold does not mean they provided “evidence”.
Great story, and highly informative! Keep up the good work👊💯
Sue ! We must show them , We will not allow this Stand up !
No one has asked why this is done? I would find out maybe with law suite !

This happens nationwide. It’s commonly known that this happens
Not surprised

I would bet if a white family has three different appraiser they’d have three different values too. It’s objective the person doing the appraisal.
Not at 30% difference!

You just worked overtime to prove yourself wrong?
You don’t listen very good do you?
They literally proved they were racially profiled and you twisted yourself into a pretzel to justify this gross treatment?
Big beautiful home and still crying

FAKE Bot Account!!
Big beautiful home and you are jealous.
BS, clean slate houses sell better.
ok racist
Then why was the second appraisal with the same stuff but white photos so much higher?
It wasn't a sale, it was an appraisal.
Their homes have distinct smell. Not bad but distinctively odd. When buying my home I felt as if I was somewhere I didn't belong

Ohh wow. So now their houses smell. 😢😮
