This is one song you can hear over and over and not get tired of the joyous rhythm. So happily swinging music. The lyrics are soo sweet and swaying to swing with.
I played trombone in 1963 when this was a number one song. I love this trombone player stepping out in front where he belongs. I also memorized and can sing this song in Japanese.
One thing I wish we can do is to change the title "Sukiyaki" back to "I look up as I walk". I think the producers just picked a title off the cuff as they didn't want to translate "ue o muite arukou".
That's not why. The name was changed because they thought "sukiyaki" was easier for Americans to say, and shorter too. I think they were going for a short name
What a performance. Everything is just.... Simply Perfect. I like this song v.much. 'Beautiful, and the lyric is so Inspiring' Thank you v.much for sharing. Dec 2021, I wish you/All well, healthy. Merry Christmas everyone.
Funny how everyone says the lyrics are beautiful but the lyrics are really about depressing sadness from Japan losing their land to america, and the unjustifiable actions of the Japanese government in passing a treaty with only one party in power.
The Conductor is a pure joy to watch
Yes. Loving his profession. smiling and laughing. I can't get enough of watching this viseo.
R.I.P. Kyu Sakamoto.

This brass arrangement and performance is so magnificent.
The triplets of horns (or euphoniums?) are just so beautiful.
音樂非常動人,(但令人傷感落淚😢), 我小時候, 在香港的七十年代就經常聽到此曲. 各位兵哥的演奏是頂級的。💯👍
Orchestrated and arranged and performed in a manner that does great credit to this classic! Extremely well done! (Gave me chills.)
Thank you so much. Your music made me love this song even more.
