Comalies was their breakthrough album for sure. They are releasing a 20 year anniversary album with a “modern” take on the old tracks. Love this band. Wish they had added a breakdown as well.
I love Lacuna Coil and I can't believe this is the song they decided to redo. Don't give up on them man. Check out the song Reckless by them. It will change your mind.
I am very familiar with the original. Comalies was the album that introduced me to the band. It's a nostalgic album that I still listen to occasionally. I didn't like it the first time I heard Swamped XX, mostly because it feels almost the same the old one, but with a touch of Black Anima (their best album in my opinion). It kinda felt slightly off, but technically mixed well. The original had a bit of muddiness, which was actually a charming point, and the original had a slower pace which matched well with the Gothic feeling that went well with the lyrics. I can appreciate it more, especially hearing Tight Rope XX, and I can see where they were going with the Comalies XX album, which brings me to ask you to listen to Tight Rope XX. Now that felt different from the original, and in a very good way. It's my current repeat listen for the past few days now.
I totally agree. I didn't really love this version at first but now after ~month of listening to it I cannot listen to the original. I believe this version serves the concept and the meaning of the song better than the slow paced and a bit melancholic original. And Black Anima is their best album in my opinion cause it feels more mature and the lyrics are deeper and wiser. That's why I appreciate their new slow paced darker songs like veneficium more than the older ones like current obsession or virtual environment. It's like they took some good things from their alternative metal phase and returned to their original concept.
Right! That's all I'm saying. AFTER doing this reaction I went and listened to the original song - this is definitely a modernization of the original - I don't see what would have been wrong with throwing a breakdown in there where there clearly should have been one, or with adding some contrast between parts at least.
Listen to the original Swamped... not the XX version. I appreciate that they wanted to put a modern spin on their classics but if it isn't broke don't fix it!

I'm glad you agreed about the breakdown lol. And I actually like that concept as well - that's a solid idea / cool thing for the fans to experience.

Even the most generic breakdown or drum break or SOMETHING would have been so welcome in that track!
Great reaction!
EXACTLY! And I understand that the original song doesn't have one, but this (well-modernized) version calls for it even more in my opinion..
Never heard of them before, but they're on my radar now. I need to check out more of their stuff! 🤘😆
They've been around for a LONG time. They're from Italy. Interesting band.
@@InsomniacReacts Awesome, I can’t wait to listen to more. I bet there’s some pretty good gems! 😄😁👍
They’re legends in Gothic/Alternative Metal mostly
@@cwm8565 Alternative Metal is my thing, anything different is great! 🤘😆

Honestly, I didn't expect anything, because I know the original song. 😁 But you are right, a breakdown would have been cool

Instead of a breakdown I was expecting a double time riff to play for the rest of the song.
That would have been odd.. But at least it would have been SOMETHING ELSE lol
Best Album is Delirium. And if you listen to Blood, Tears, Dust from that album no one is going to call it boring.

this has always been my least favorite of the album
Boring.
My reaction? Or the song? LOL
@@InsomniacReacts The song. Your reaction was spot on
@@trytofollow Oh well that's good to hear because I'm certainly not shooting for "boring" over here lol.
The original is much more boring believe me
