Absolutely superb singing from Varady in one of her few appearances at the WIen Staatsoper. How many sopranos at age 55 (these days anyway) sound as fresh & wonderful as this great lady? Who could match the variety of her repertoire: Verdi, Mozart, Wagner, Puccini, etc? Too bad she was not allowed to sing that fine & seldom heard cabaletta to the 4th aria.
