I have a funny story about this song that literally just happened to me around an hour ago. I was running and nowadays whenever I run, I usually like to listen to a bit of worship music for the sake of thanking God on the fact I can wake up and run on such beautiful days because of him. Today in the middle of my run however, I was putting it off and kinda just mentally told God i'll put on some worship music on the later half of the run since the same songs i've been listening to weren't hitting this itch I had for something new, comforting, motivating, yet raw and real. I was originally searching for "faint" by Linkin Park, but instead I accidentally typed in "fade" and saw your song on top of the list. I dont know how to describe it, but something from just the cover alone told me this was something special. Lo and behold, I pressed play and I was introduced to something personal, dark, yet honest and filled with love. It was almost like i was listening to the exact way i felt after reading Ecclesiastes (arguably the most depressing book in the bible for those who don't know). The timing is funny since it was also the most recent book in the bible I finished. What I personally got from the song was this: Even though we know the truth and the reality of how Christ is God and by our side, we are still ultimately human as well. Through all the spiritual warfare, the sins we do which produces the seeds of doubt, and the constant questioning if we're doing the right thing, we really do feel like we're fading away into someplace horrifying. It feels like a place far from God, our beloved creator. Regardless of the depressing nature of this song, the run I had was blissful in everyway and I thank God for showing it to me and I thank you guys for creating such a wondeful piece of blessed art. To end my passionate jabber about this song, I would finally like to say that though the message is dark on the surface, the comforting idea within it I personally found is the fact that it is only us who can distance ourselves from God but God's love will never leave us for it is written “For I am convinced that neither death nor life, neither angels nor demons, neither the present nor the future, nor any powers, neither height nor depth, nor anything else in all creation, will be able to separate us from the love of God that is in Christ Jesus our Lord” (Romans 8:38-39). So I urge anyone who feel distant from God to open the bible and satiate the spiritual thirst you may be feeling by reading the comforting words of Christ within the blessed book.
