unbelievable!! This trio its just beyond comprehension. I am extremely amazed how guthrie and beller were keeping tempo during marco's solo. I lost tempo several times....i am not worthy
Part 1 Love Guthrie and have followed him since the early days. In fact I love fusion guitar trios generally. Some others yuo may enjoy: Fire Merchants (old trio with the great John Goodsall of Brand X fame), Ronnie Johnson (of First Light fame), Gregg Howe, of course Allan Holdsworth, Wayne krantz, and the much missed Shaun Baxter (absolute monster).
I cannot get enough of those guys. I have bought, heard and seen everything they played so far. I am still baffled by the upteenth version of this one, Get it like that ect. i see and hear. Going to see them live this july though. That's a new one. :)
I can only urge you to visit a gig if you get a chance (i guess they won't be out again till late next year, just guessing). It's just out of this world.
@adriangel143 Well these are probably some of the Top 10 Musicians at their Instuments so it shouldnt be a Problem for them Bryan Beller played with Steve Vai & Dweezil Zappa & Mike Keneally so he s used to weird Time Signatures
this song is in drop D but im pretty sure guthrie says lets try it in E, either he was tuned a step up (not likely) or paying it in standard. not especially hard, but I would never just "attempt" a song in a different tuning in a live setting. Bryan just rolls with it like it was written that way... These guys are prestige.
The song is not in Drop D it's in E. More than likely, Guthrie forgot to tune up from Drop D on a previous song. I thoroughly agree that these guys are prestige!
Part 2 And check out Alex Hutchings, on a par wiht Guthrie, no question! Some of his videos throw the kitchen sink in as they are instructional but Alex is easilly as versatile as Guthrie and to my mind does the Jazz and fusion based stuff even better (just my opinion but at this level its all about personal preference). I love them both and they have jammed together too!
I think Gutherz is plenty jazzy when it suits, mostly in the fusion sense i guess. Even with the rock/shred there are many jazz/fusion overtones in his playing. No doubt Hutchings plays jazzier stuff a little more exclusively. Regardless, yes, they are both amazing players with different playing preferences :) My personal choice is the G man, perhaps due to the ridiculously expansive range of his playing, in terms of shapes, rhythm, dynamics, style, you name it. He'll always catch me off guard.
@RGBLackson i think its not Derek is guthrie main influence, he just saw one of Derek show and thinking Derek playing is cool and takes one bit and apply to his playing.........i mean 99% of guthrie's playing its not same at all with Derek fans.........this coming from me as derek fans, but he got nothing really compared to guthrie........guthrie's playing is much much much more wide and complex
@enfetish I think Guthrie's lines are more interesting than Hutchings'. He's an awesome player, that's for sure, but a lot "neater". Guthrie's got more personality and fun to his playing IMO. Greg Howe remains Lord ;) All great players!
well guess its a question of taste i cant stand listening to alex, i think he is so boring to listen to. you dont get the same complexity as u do with guthrie
Bryan Beller writes some fantastic rock fusion instrumentals! This one, Flatlands, and Smuggler’s Corridor are some of my favorites!
aaaaaaw yeah, I fukin love this song!, what an amazing band!
Ahhhhh! Nothing like Guthrie back in his Suhr days!
Amazing guitarist easily one of my favourites.
unbelievable!! This trio its just beyond comprehension. I am extremely amazed how guthrie and beller were keeping tempo during marco's solo. I lost tempo several times....i am not worthy
A rare opportunity to see Bryan wearing something other than a black shirt
Part 1

Try The Jeff Sipe Trio.
There are some shows on youtube.
Wish they'd come down to Florida. :-(
I will see them on their current tour. I can't wait. Best new material out there right now.
i saw them about a month ago was an insane gig you wont be disappointed
This was my favorite song of the night just this past Sunday. Unbelievable performance

triggSerable I feel the same, everytime I hear the same song it's a whole new different experience for me and I'm completely hooked on them.
I can only urge you to visit a gig if you get a chance (i guess they won't be out again till late next year, just guessing). It's just out of this world.
triggSerable When I ever have the chance I would, but sadly they're gigging at Europe at the moment.
Get out and see these guys! They are on tour!!!
Harmonica riff in the house at 3:57!
i feel the tempo is gradually a bit slower than the beginning, am i wrong?
SUPER POWER TRIO!
Lol 'Turkish tea shirt'.
Killer. Can't wait.

+Mike DeGroff however, they slowed it down a little
That bass solo sounds like my Uncle Henry after drinking too much at a family picnic. Amazing playing
it's awesome!!!
too freaking sick.... I hope they come back to NY soon, I didn't know about them when they first came through. :-|
@jsauce666 Yes me too! All of us floridians are gonna have to drag them down here it seems.
Why is this so low on views ?
it needs at least 50. 000
@jsauce666 If they come to Orlando I'll be the first in line!
Open for Asia in 2003 & just saw Aristocrats in cbus, gg's like watching 2moro coming on gtr!!!
@cajunstrat Is 'nasty' code for 'fucking amazing'?
@hanifabidin90 oh absolutely, but to hear even .1% played in derek's style imitated absolutely perfectly by guthrie just amazes me even more lol
Bloody hell! ...
The tragedy is that at of the time of my post - only 800 views. It's a crime that not everyone knows this band.
Hmmm. I came from a whole world of shred and i can say, Guthrie DOES have awesome melody. Peace :D
Turkish Tea Shirt.
Part 2

When is Guthrie going to learn to play ?????? Unreal.
reminds me of allman bros true gravity
Are they playing song from the guthrie govan solo album during the show?

dang... why do I love this so much!!!
sounds like a midi soundtrack to a grade 8 rockschool CD.
idol

Govan gets especially nasty at 4:14
reminds me of early Steve Morse Band stuff....
Wow zap ya
What rockshool did you go to?
maybe NASTY ist the new: This is the Shit or the new this is sick stuff
derek trucks is really influencing guthrie's playing... ir atteast it seems so to my ear... although this example wouldn't be the best.
@enfetish I think Guthrie's lines are more interesting than Hutchings'. He's an awesome player, that's for sure, but a lot "neater". Guthrie's got more personality and fun to his playing IMO. Greg Howe remains Lord ;) All great players!
Asın bayrakları :D :D
HNNNNNNG
a bit
So you're in the 8th grade? That explains a lot.
Guthrie, tune your guitar due!
@enfetish well, Alex Hutching is completely not on the same level on guthrie.....and i find his lines boring and too "sweety", well just my opinion
well guess its a question of taste i cant stand listening to alex, i think he is so boring to listen to. you dont get the same complexity as u do with guthrie
