It is he NEEDs a grand heist to UPGRADE his ability and later possibly steal another powerful ability. Maybe lowering condition to steal (maybe the target does not need to touch the book anymore after chrollo upgrades it) or maybe stolen abilities dont go away after the original user dies... Another example is that probably the book marker is already an upgrade.
This is what I was thinking too. He doesn’t plan on dying right now, he just isn’t opposed to it. Maybe if he steals the treasure, then all the abilities he’s lost will return to his book permanently

Yeah he is. I think he used Transmutation to change the properties of a stick into a basic sword . Togashi said that nen users have a secondary net affinity that is close to their main affinity. So Transmutation is next to Enhancer on the chart so I think that's what happened.

Between reforging a sword on a ship and summoning a sword that you can't hide because it's one of your usual Nen restrictions from your actual sword, summon seems more plausible. Especially when you consider that Nobunaga as a child, like the other spiders, was heavily influenced by the media they consumed. That he follows a pseudo Bushido code in which he can never leave this path (including not hiding that he is a samurai) doesn't seem so far-fetched.
