One of the downsides of watching Angelina reactions is when someone like you-who knows music so well-says that he’s never before heard a song that was a smash hit in my younger years. It shows how old I am, and it also makes me love Angelina more because she chooses such beautiful songs to cover. This Roberta Flack hit was a landmark, beautiful song that sounded nothing like we’d heard before. (Be sure to listen to that.) The idea that a very young Angelina would decide to do it differently than Roberta’s iconic original makes you realize how incredibly talented and confident she is in her musical instincts. As always, she pays sincere respect to the original, but slows it down even more-and we get to hear the emotion and texture of her unique voice.
Her voice ... Every time, every time, it kills me! I've heard her thousands of times now, yet she always kidnaps me again, especially in these soft songs, almost whispered, slow down and filtered by her great emotional sensitivity. Thanks, Dave 💛 💜 ❤️

She asks if he knows the song, if so, she gets the lyrics on her phone. Grandma Mery gets the video camera, AJ says "Just follow me" & this is what you get. It's as raw as it gets, full of mistakes in the lyrics, but who cares. It's one of her most beautiful, emotional songs she's done. I think she was a little embarrassed about some of the lyrics when she finished. No bye, no wave at the end.

Angelina is amazing. I think when she repeats I saw your face towards the end of the song, she looks at him. I think it's because they played together since she was little. So unknowingly it will be so..maybe because she thinks their collaboration has been so good. I dont know for sure but just a thought

The original is so iconic. So lovely, peaceful, and hits you with such deep emotion. And Angelina makes it her own - so different than the original, but she is 100% in touch with the emotional impact and meaning of the song and its lyrics.

She is one of the greatest singers of all time before Angelina and those are 2 of my favorite songs of all time. I was born in 69 but have always been an old soul and appreciated music before my time and I consider myself so lucky to have listened to so much wonderful music that young people today have no idea about. TH-cam is a wonderful resource for us all to find these great classics again and share them with others!!
