If you go down the rabbit hole Ren is like no other artist you will ever see again .. he covers every genre with excellence in one take and mostly live ..he Raps (rap raps ) he does duets .. Plays in his band The Big Push who are unreal musicians ..enjoy the journey
Well, technically there are edits throughout, switching from one side to the other etc, so this is not a one-take video in the same sense as the Tales trilogy for example. Samuel Perry-Falvey who filmed Hi Ren, clarifies that in the comments of Jonathan Hiller's reaction to the song.
Great reaction folks. You got a sub from me. This rabbit hole is a gold mine of treasures. Hope you jump on the the Ren Rollercoaster. But buckle up folks. It's a wild ride! Artistry, story telling, rap, hip hop, reggae, ska, blues, .....etc; he can do it all. Either solo, with his band The Big Push, or with his many collabs with other great artists like Chinchilla, Eden Nash, Sam Tompkins, Molly McKinna, Bibi and more.
Thanks for your reaction to this true GENIUS... I'm sure you'll work out exactly how talented Ren is, even in ill health. Subscribed in anticipation of you reacting to more Ren. Cheers 👍🍻
@Kay Andrews the audio is one take. Most of the camera work is one-take, too, apart from the long front shots (because you would have seen the side caneras in the long front shots). There is an interview on another platform that is explained in full. So there are extra camera shots mimed, but only the long distance front shots, but the audio is single take.
@@chrispartiSamuel Perry-Falvey who filmed Hi Ren, talks about the filming process a bit in the comments of Jonathan Hiller's reaction to the song. I'm not sure what you mean by long front shots but Samuel mentioned that the close-ups filmed with a hand-held camera were a separate take.
@@hmo_mackey Yours is the most logical explanation. When watching closely you can see that in some shots the lapel mic is inside the shirt edge and in others it's protruding out as normal. Very clear that there was more than just one take. Still though, the best song and performance I've ever seen. Life changing art imo.
What you're saying at the end is pretty much what I've experienced in my "battles" with mental illness, trauma, addiction, etc.: The dark and the light are two sides of one coin, as I think Ren said when he was singing near the end. Trying to exorcize or "kill" the dark side has never worked for me (kind of like denial never works), but communicating with, working with, and learning from the dark thoughts and experiences of life, and then shifting them to become allies in becoming my more authentic self has gotten me to a much better place. Still an ongoing process... That's a big reason why Hi Ren resonated with me so much in the past few weeks. Thanks for your reaction! 🤠
Love, love, Ren!!! He is brilliant! "Chalk Outlines", and the trilogy of "Jenny's tale", "Schreech's tale", and "Violets tale" are so powerful and incredible story telling. I also love "Hunger", I dont listen to rap but his rap is sophisticated, relevant, and soooooo smooth. He can do basically any genre. He is a song writer for the ages.
You should read into his life tho. It truly is sad Some people suffer with depression all their lives. Some go through wha my therapist called “situational depression” brought on by a tragic life changing event Then you have people like Ren, that go a long time being misdiagnosed and he suffered from it. Alot of his problems were caused by a disease he didn’t even know he had
Oh well done sharing the go fund me. Few reactors do now (a lot more did two months ago when it was first blowing up) You got it in one view. It’s all him. He had to learn to accept all the parts.
I wrote this introduction to Ren when I first discovered him earlier this year, as there wasn’t a Wikipedia entry for people to look him up prior to March 2023. I have posted this info to every “Hi Ren” reaction I have come across since, and I hope it will be of some use to the uninitiated. “Hi Ren” is the song that put Ren on everyone's radar since December; it went viral and has garnered over 8 million views since its debut, but he has been creating great music for more than ten years. Ren’s music videos are generally recorded live, often in a single take, although not necessarily the first take, and from various camera angles. His release, "Sick Boi," is almost another chapter to "Hi Ren." Many of Ren’s songs resonate with people because he addresses struggles that many others face every day. Ren plays multiple instruments (acoustic, electric, and bass guitar, piano, drums), has impressive vocals, is an excellent storyteller, and is quite the philosopher and poet. He is considered by many a modern bard; he calls his music “bardcore.” Ren’s earliest recordings on TH-cam are from his time in a band called “Trick The Fox,” consisting of Ren and his buddies Charlie and Tommy. Unfortunately, the band performed only briefly due to Ren’s onset of health issues. They are very talented. A fun clip to watch is “The Mash Up.” Ren’s trilogy "The Tale of Jenny/Screech/Violet" has been likened to a Shakespearean tragedy and is a prime example of his genius; it is a master’s class in storytelling and also showcases his guitar skills. The three acts are haunting, and the conclusion will catch you off guard. The trilogy needs to be watched in the order given, as this is the flow of the storyline and is best watched as a whole rather than piecemeal. Ren’s collaborations with Chinchilla (“Chalk Outlines,” “How to Be Me,” “Sexual Healing,” “One Dance/Drunk in Love”) are beautiful and showcase his singing voice. His live music videos are especially impressive. Ren's personal reflections are threaded through many of his songs; "Insomnia," "Depression," “Diazepam," “Penitence,” “Dear God,” “Heretic,” “Dominos,” his "Freckled Angels" album, just to name a few, all deserve a listen. His song "Money Game" (Part I & II) is another recommendation, although it is less of a personal song than it is an indictment of greed and the resulting injustices in this world. Ren’s Hip Hop/Rap style songs are all worth checking out if you enjoy this genre; they are pretty amazing. Check out “The Hunger,” “Genesis,” “What You Want,” “Losing it (FISHER rap retake),” “Right here, right now (Fatboy Slim one shot retake),” "Life is Funny," “Love Music (Parts 1, 2, and 3),” “Crucify Your Culture,” “Power,” his latest release, “Bittersweet symphony (The Verve retake),” just to name a few. As I recently discovered that Ren also recorded a cover of “Can't Help Falling In Love (Elvis Cover),” that is simply beautiful. Then there are his performances with Sam Tompkins (“Blind Eyed,” “Earned it /Mans World / Falling,” “Walking on the moon/No Diggity”). Also, his collaborations with Eden Nash (“Humble,” “Ocean”), Bibi (“Crutch,” “Ahiahiaoha”), Molly McKinna (“Penitence”), Orlean ("Jessica"), his former bandmate Romain Axisa (“French Song”), are all great. "The Big Push" (Ren Gill, Gorran Kendall, Romain Axisa, and Glen Chambers) busking sessions, concerts, and live recordings all are awesome and well worth checking out. All but the drummer sing lead vocals at times. Their covers of "I Shot the Sheriff/Road to Zion/Hip Hop," "Wade in the Water/Nina Simone/Trouble so Hard," "Watch Out," “War Pigs,” “Roadhouse Blues,” "My Generation," “Paint It Black,” "An Englishman in New York," “Bongo Bong” are awesome. On “These Boots Are Made For Walking,” “Praise You” (Fatboy Slim Cover), “What Kind Of Woman Is This,” all three take a turn singing. The songs "Oh My Woman," “Swan Song,” “Sweet Little Lady," "It's Alright," “Dignity,” and so many others are equally impressive. The band, at least for the time being, performed their last official busking session and gave their last concert in September of last year (2022) due to the fact that Ren was leaving for Canada to undergo specialized medical care and surgeries for his multiple health issues. In anticipation of his stay in Canada, Ren prepared some music ahead of time to be released over the next six months that he expects to be gone. He released “Sick Boi” and “Bittersweet Symphony (The Verve retake),” which is another masterful work. Ren is scheduled to release his newest song on his birthday, March 29, at 2 P.M. CST.
Hey Jens... You might be the only person on Earth that has watched more Ren reaction videos than me, as almost every time... There you are with this comment. Well done mate, I am sure that Ren is grateful for your helpful insights for the reactors :).
Thank you guys for this incredible reaction to Ren! I've already saw your reactions to one of my favorit series - "The Expanse" - and they was so cozy, so sincere - and now you did a reaction to one of my favorit musician, bard - Ren Gill. That surprised me in a good way - so now you have one more subcsciber on your channel.
PLEASE watch the Tale of Jenny and Screech(full) which includes the third part of the trilogy, Violet's Tale. Ren tells an amazing story of life and the uglier side to it. I 100% guarantee you will love it.
I was like wait, my two favorite reactors are going to react to Hi Ren? Am I seeing this right? Been somewhat obsessed with Ren since first hearing Hi Ren and have watched at least 100 different reactions to the song. Really glad you guys gave it a watch and have boosted his signal.
I think there's too much of Ren in this piece to say it's acting...but I'm also sure he is a fine actor...amongst MANY other talents. Agreed...this fringe theatre is only viewable by the masses because of TH-cam. A redemption point for the Internet and part of the rebalancing we need after the opening of Pandora's www.
I totally agree sir, but then again, perhaps they don't possess the necessary amount of grey cells to work out that it's not a comedic piece of art, but something that has taken guts and an inordinate amount of intelligence to put together in a form that can readily be understood by all but the dimmest of intellects.
@@annebiebrich9155 - This video is a great way to figure out which reaction channels are insightful, deep and compassionate... and which ones are shallow, callous and rude.
I always saw the "third" persona as simply the second persona that has absorbed the confidence of the first or some combination of the two. hence the vocal power combined with the powerful guitars and the lighting which was flashing during the passages with the first persona.
I have ptsd and identify with alot of what he sings about but his message at the end has helped me realize what ive been doing to myself all these years,
They found the hospital chair on Rens Hunger video on wasteland. Samuel Perry-Falvey filmed this and took four takes with close-ups added. All live and awesome! Welcome to a big rabbit hole from Ren. All songs don't disappoint. So different and great lyrics/music. The tale of Jenny and Screetch (full) is a modern tragedy. Money Game parts 1 and 2 gets you thinking. Genesis, Power, What You Want a Beastie Boys vibe. Losing It a wild rap ride 😂 Great reaction guys!!! Subbed
This was a one take live performance. A lot of his videos are live and done in one take. He's a true storyteller and considers his music Bardcore. He was diagnosed with Lyme disease which was misdiagnosed for years as a mental disorder which he was prescribed meds for that made things a lot worse for him.since his Lyme disease wasn't caught for so long he suffers complications and is currently in Canada receiving treatments and even surgery.he is alone and without his family and friends and has huge medical bills his insurance doesn't cover all of and is using his go fund page to help with the high costs of his medical needs.thank you for helping spread his music and message to others.😄🎶✌
A lot of his videos are indeed one-take videos with no edits but Hi Ren is not one of them as it has cuts throughout and the close-ups near the end were filmed in a separate take. Samuel Perry-Falvey who filmed Hi Ren, clarifies that in the comments of Jonathan Hiller's reaction to the song.
I keep saying this... it is one of the most important songs, one of the most interesting performances, and one of the most genuine internal look at the voices we all hear to some level. That doubt that holds ja back... that anger turned inward when it isn't warranted... that wastes times and energy. We are too short lived and too long gone to internally punish ourselves... I'm still trying to remind myself. Danke for the react and also for linking his go fund me. That man deserves to be heard, remembered, supported.
I ❤Ren's artistry beyond measure. He is so versatile it boggle's the mind. He calls this style of music Bardcore and one of my favorites is a trilogy he wrote called "The Tale of Jenny & Screech" full version th-cam.com/video/TYAnqQ--KX0/w-d-xo.html . He wrote Jenny and Screeches Tales almost 3 years ago and this past year he wrote Violets Tale to properly make it into a trilogy. I know you'll both love this and Claroos I got you girl, this ones 13min long so it won't end as fast lol. Cheers!
I believe there are 4 voices: "bad Ren", "good Ren", "Temptation/Sin/Satin/Evil" and "Hope". Evil is driving the bad Ren and Hope is driving the good Ren. Ren could kill himself and thus destroy his bad side along with the good side, however, the voices of Evil and Hope are eternal and outlive their hosts and Ren claims Hope will live on in his music after his death. The dance between Evil and Hope play out in the minds and actions of humans and Ren claims there is no way to end/fix Evil and turn the human experience into a Solo dance of only hope. He states that Evil and Hope are two sides of the same coin. Many think the last voice is good Ren's voice speaking again before it is revealed to be the voice of Hope, therefore it was Hope that was needing time to be distant and Hope that was ill for half of Ren's life before standing up.
Samuel Perry-Falvey who filmed Hi Ren, talks about it in the comments of Jonathan Hiller's reaction to the song. Not a one-take video but sound was recorded live.
Nice rx. You use silence well, and react to the humour perfectly....fyi, this was done in one take with just two stationary cameras and a lighting tech
I will say this without a lie in my words Ren is a generational talent ...His musical journey is an emotional one and so diverse especially if you delve into his story and what he is dealing with. He was misdiagnosed for a very long time until they finally realized he had Lyme disease and wrecked his body and mind and he is overcoming all that and still making unbelievable music and he is a multifaceted generational musical genius in my humble opinion. I hope you go down his rabbit hole.
Best line ever!!!!!!! “Oh, is that it? “ I cannot think of a better compliment for a nine minute rap song that is one room with one person and a guitar, with even a monologue. Could not have said it better myself. Thank you for this reaction!!! You guys rock!🌺 Performance art is acting, but it’s also something else. Because it’s format is always live, even if you go out with a scripted bit you have the freedom to act and feel in the moment and reflect that in the piece. It’s a real time kind of art that is enamored with the moment. And when the subject matter is your own life, well, you become present as a piece of living art. Method acting can do that, but this frequency is different. It’s a frequency of realism Vulnerability Honesty Truth. Living art. That is why it has affected millions in the three months since it dropped. 8 million now afaik. I think you might like chalk outlines x chinchilla. The vocals are truly outstanding. ✌️🫶🏼🖖🏻
Y'all's reaction was great. I'd love to see you break down more Ren. The Tale of Jenny and Screech (full - he's got the 3 songs combined into one video on his channel) is another incredible performance piece. Chalk Outlines and How to Be Me with Chinchilla both showcase his singing abilities beautifully, and Losing it and What You Want show his fun side. Ren is also dropping a new track on 29 March!
Go on, treat yourselves to a pair of earbuds each. It'll massively improve your immersion in the music ands looks more like you care what you're listening to.
Live recording yes, but not a one-take video. Samuel Perry-Falvey who filmed it, clarifies that in the comments of Jonathan Hiller's reaction to the song.
Great reaction and the comments about Ren finding a new vocabulary for inner struggles with the negative voice is spot on, and that it isn't useful to use words like defeat, beat, conquer with reference to an inner voice, but, rather, to dance with the devil if one has to, might be more useful as it recognises the voice within that needs to be heard and listened to, before choosing the positive path and returning to the light as often as necessary and/or possible
Watch his Sick Boi video... it'll explain his medical and mental issues! Basically misdiagnosed for many years, used as a drug trial, etc... Ending up being Lyme disease! Now he's in Canada getting surgeries and treatments for months!!!
Helping the algorithm. Nice reaction. Liked and subscribed. 👍 I looked at your channel and was surprised you two don't do more music reactions. Perhaps you should. If you want another Independent Artist like Ren, check out Tom Macdonald; "Ghost" or "End of the World".
Don't miss his work, too much to analyse, there's rap, genesis or the hunger, storytelling like hi ren, the trilogy Jenny screech's tale, singing, Chalkoutlines, thanks for the video.
Absolutely spot on with your observations - great reaction - well done .... both of you - I really enjoyed your sincerity ( except for the gushy bollocks at the end 🤣😅 ) ... only joking, you are a lovely couple - Namaste 🙏
5:55 'Bad' Ren throws the kitchen sink at it and ends on a Hendrix run. So funny. Are you allowed to like 'Bad' Ren? This guy is a Troubador for today.
it took me a few watches before the tears began to flow. the first few watches i was not really into it. it's not an easy flow song like money game part two
just a note to Jens's comment -- Brief Ren bio, for those who don't know: Ren contracted Lyme disease and an autoimmune deficiency -- was MISDIAGNOSED as bipolar -- prescribed psychotropic meds that actually FED his psychosis -- it all started when he was 17 -- he is still in treatment and has a GoFundMe account to help pay medical bills.....
Sweet couple - Dude i understand you... that girl is a rare gem... and you want to feel she is 'cured'... but instead why don't you just learn and lead her Dance when needed. I get you guys. The Eternal Dance is fine... understanding it "is the cure"
I tried looking through the comments to see whether or not Ren’s current diagnosis was listed. He has lymes disease. It was misdiagnosed for years. It can be deadly as I had a friend die from it.
Yes, the Lyme disease wrecked havoc on his body. I believe the stem cell transplant that he finally got in 2016 helped with that. They misdiagnosed him as bipolar and gave him lots of drugs for that. I don’t know if the psychosis is a standalone thing or if the diseases and drugs caused it. Unfortunately, early on in the illness, he developed MCAS (mast cell activation syndrome). I think the assumption is that the Lyme ‘triggered’ the MCAS autoimmunity issues. He’s had a very rough time of it. He’s currently in Canada receiving some treatments very tailored to him. That includes brain neural pathway treatments because the MCAS damaged his myelin. He just shared on Facebook that they have added some peptides into the treatment and he is seeing a distance. He eats a super limited diet and even receives hydrogen treatment to help keep inflammation down. He has been very open about his journey and it inspires and helps so many! It is a shame the medical establishment just kept shoving pills at him without trying to get to the truth of what was wrong with him but that is something that most people can agree they experience also with the medical profession. Health aside, I’ve really enjoyed going down the Ren rabbit hole. Im glad I didn’t just stop with Hi Ren. He is so talented and does such a large variety of music and plays multiple instruments.
This song is not about overcoming the dark side of you. It’s about learning to live and function with it. It’s very jungian. (The Id, the ego, and the super ego).
Did anyone tell u to read the comment section on HI Ren? He left a message there that explains a lot about him and this song. A must read to understand Ren. ...just a suggestion.
So yea some facts on ren. 1. the song was done live if you look to the top of the gown you will see the mic and he did this as a 1 take so in total there were 4 versions of this in 1 take form and this was the one he finished on. 2. Ren was not trained on guitar he was/is self taught and learned from youtube videos. 3. So the song is about illness and mental health ren was misdiagnosed as a kid for years with depression, bipolar and other illnesses so was fed wrong medications untill finally he got a proper diagnosed with lyme disease and is now still going through treatment. Finally while he was misdiagnosed he actually signed with sony studios but due to his illness and not being able to keep his comitments with sony they dropped him and is a independent artist
A cordial greeting to you my friends!!...No one better than you, to analyze this incredible singer who is leaving all the experts, literally with their jaws on the floor (Do you remember Jim Carrey's movie "The Mask"? well, just like that)....In 2017, a 22-year-old singer from Kazakhstan, named Dimash Kudaibergen, was invited to participate in the famous Chinese program for professional singers called "The Singer".... In his first appearance, Dimash covered one of the most difficult songs in the world, a famous French composition called "S.O.S. D'un Terrien En Détresse"....Since then all this madness began on the internet, TH-cam and social networks worldwide and he is already considered the best singer on the entire planet... It is almost impossible to see a human being, being able to reach vocal ranges of 8 octaves, that is, the 88 keys of a digital piano, which allows him to reach all registers, both masculine and feminine, that is, he can sing as Bass, Baritone, Tenor, Contratenor, Contralto, Mezzosoprano and Soprano.....You can see in TH-cam to all kinds of experts (Vocal coaches, analysts, singing teachers, singers, youtubers, reactors, etc.), who have dedicated themselves to watching his videos and verifying for themselves that what is said about him is completely true...In addition to all this, Dimash is capable of singing in more than 12 languages...In all his concerts worldwide, tickets are sold in just seconds, via the internet, due to the immense popularity he has worldwide.... Anyway, I think you haven't met this impressive singer yet, so here is the link to the first song that Dimash performed in China in that year 2017, the song S.O.S., and if it doesn't bother you, I would like you to mention me as the person who recommended it to you....Warning: You have to be prepared for thousands of views, comments and new subscribers...The video It is more recent, so it does not have the millions of views that the first ones, but it is more complete, including an intro, subtitles in several languages and better audio and sound quality.....th-cam.com/video/bDX3FhmyNac/w-d-xo.html
Y'all... Please... Please... do a reaction to his Jenny and Screech Trilogy!!! Make sure it's the Full version from his page, it's All Three videos in one! You'll see!!! Trust the strange man on the internet... you WANT TO do it!!! It'll BLOW ya away... and make ya a true Fan of him!!! He's Sooo unique... he's on his Own Level!!!! PS... it's Nothing like this!
Welcome to the RENaissance. ❤ The cinematographer, Samuel Perry-Falvey, spoke about how the lighting is very intentional and that if you watch, you'll see that the shadow to the left is actually darker than the shadow on the right. If you want to go on another ride with Ren, then you really want to pull up The Tale of Jenny & Screech. For more of his personal journey and his trials with the mental health field, then pull up Sick Boi. For lighter fare and impressive wordplay, my fave of his tracks is The Hunger, and right behind that are Losing It and What You Want.
It's a testament to how great a performance and message this was that after 9 minutes, I had the same reaction of "Is that it? I want it to keep going"
I wonder if you ever get to your comments anymore, with so much going on. I actually must have watched and liked this a long time ago. But recently, I emailed you about this and ALSO The Tale of Jenny & Screetch (full official). You need to do that (if I didn't miss it in my search.) So I watched alllllllll... the way thru your WoT reactions. I'm a fellow neurospicy who, btw, played AD&D on LSD on Christmas, 1979.We were chased by a very slow giant tick. I still have angst about Nerdy's rants during the WoT slog. They're understandable though. But, did you consider the author wanted that reaction out of you? Hah, probably. Do Jenny & Screetch trilogy, or show me where it is. It's arguably as good or better than this. I ain't got no money for you, and I rarely subscribe, but I hand out lots of "likes." :)
Btw, you will lose subscribers if you don't react to the comments. People like Jens Randolff for example has left a must-read comment below and many others leave small tid-bits of info too and they appreciate it when the reactor(you) acknowledges it.

C’mon. Seriously? Dual reactors that don’t even have their own earpods is crazy. Even if you can’t afford 2 sets of AirPods, there are great earbuds out there for $10 for listening to music. Spend 10-15 bucks until you save enough for more Overpriced Airbuds.

Great reaction guys, Ren did this performance live in one take, using a lapel mic and his guitar plugged in, he also directed the video himself.
Not trying to discredit this, but he had to have done it in two because the camera gets really close toward the end.

A fun clip to watch is “The Mash Up.”
Ren’s trilogy "The Tale of Jenny/Screech/Violet" has been likened to a Shakespearean tragedy and is a prime example of his genius; it is a master’s class in storytelling and also showcases his guitar skills.
CST.
Thanks for doing this Jens 👍
@@philk9227 It's not much, but I just want to show my appreciation for Ren's art and hope that it will effect others as it did me.
Glad you are doing this 🙂
@@pyewacket24 Thank you for your kind comment.
Hey Jens... You might be the only person on Earth that has watched more Ren reaction videos than me, as almost every time... There you are with this comment. Well done mate, I am sure that Ren is grateful for your helpful insights for the reactors :).
Love the reaction and support for Ren and this live prefomance, you two rock!
Nice reaction, guys!
I requested this commission of them. Glad I did. They seemed to have really liked it. I have another idea that's non Ren I was considering too.
PLEASE watch the Tale of Jenny and Screech(full) which includes the third part of the trilogy, Violet's Tale. Ren tells an amazing story of life and the uglier side to it. I 100% guarantee you will love it.
I agree
Great reaction many thanks for doing ren he so much great music 68 years old great grandad love and respect from the UK 👍👍👍👍👍👍🌟😀😀 amazing channel 👍
Very well said, Phil.
that's a good art when you can't 100℅ tell which part really happened and which part is a product of imagination
I'll never understand how some people can just giggle their way through this one.
I totally agree sir, but then again, perhaps they don't possess the necessary amount of grey cells to work out that it's not a comedic piece of art, but something that has taken guts and an inordinate amount of intelligence to put together in a form that can readily be understood by all but the dimmest of intellects.
And talk while the video continues, and pause at the worst times and not go back to make sure nothing was missed........ugh
No subscribing from me until that changes
@@annebiebrich9155 - This video is a great way to figure out which reaction channels are insightful, deep and compassionate... and which ones are shallow, callous and rude.
Agreed. Some people have never faced any adversity in life and so will just not get it.
Great reaction guys 😘
I keep saying this... it is one of the most important songs, one of the most interesting performances, and one of the most genuine internal look at the voices we all hear to some level. That doubt that holds ja back... that anger turned inward when it isn't warranted... that wastes times and energy. We are too short lived and too long gone to internally punish ourselves... I'm still trying to remind myself. Danke for the react and also for linking his go fund me. That man deserves to be heard, remembered, supported.
Ren is a spectacular PERFORMANCE ARTIST," also in case you missed it, this was a live one-take performance. Your reaction video was great thank, you.
The 3rd side was "Temptation," which you were talking thru instead of listening
I ❤Ren's artistry beyond measure. He is so versatile it boggle's the mind. He calls this style of music Bardcore and one of my favorites is a trilogy he wrote called "The Tale of Jenny & Screech" full version th-cam.com/video/TYAnqQ--KX0/w-d-xo.html . He wrote Jenny and Screeches Tales almost 3 years ago and this past year he wrote Violets Tale to properly make it into a trilogy. I know you'll both love this and Claroos I got you girl, this ones 13min long so it won't end as fast lol. Cheers!
You two did an excellent job reacting to Ren's video. One of the best most deft reactions I've seen. Great job.
Hey did this piece live one take
Samuel Perry-Falvey who filmed Hi Ren, talks about it in the comments of Jonathan Hiller's reaction to the song. Not a one-take video but sound was recorded live.
A tip pause the video then comment and share with eachother the content. And get another set of ear phones.
This isn't even his best work.
His trilogy piece "The Tale of Jenny and Screech" is a goddamn masterpiece.
Nice rx. You use silence well, and react to the humour perfectly....fyi, this was done in one take with just two stationary cameras and a lighting tech
THE FACT THAT YOU GUYS ARE DOING THIS SONG I AM SO FUCKING HYPE!! 🖤🖤
That’s adorable, I love couples.
I cannot think of a better compliment for a nine minute rap song that is one room with one person and a guitar, with even a monologue.
Could not have said it better myself. Thank you for this reaction!!! You guys rock!🌺
Performance art is acting, but it’s also something else. It’s a frequency of realism
Vulnerability Honesty Truth.
One take ,live recording BTW.
Live recording yes, but not a one-take video. Samuel Perry-Falvey who filmed it, clarifies that in the comments of Jonathan Hiller's reaction to the song.
This was a live performance with his guitar, lights, chair and camera.
Keep it going. You will never be unimpressed with any of Rena music. He is a GENIUS
I looked at your channel and was surprised you two don't do more music reactions. Perhaps you should. If you want another Independent Artist like Ren, check out Tom Macdonald; "Ghost" or "End of the World".
My favorites after Hi Ren Are Chalk Lines and How to be me with Chinchilla. Absolutely fabulous. He also played with a band The Push.
I think most are disappointed when the performance ends. I wanted more.
just an advice, if you want to comment the video while doing the reaction, pls pause the video so we can hear what you say.
Don't think yous are ready for ren
The tale of Jenny and screech FULL next!!! You guys HAVE to react to that!!!
Once in a lifetime comes along an artist like this man
5:55 'Bad' Ren throws the kitchen sink at it and ends on a Hendrix run. So funny. Are you allowed to like 'Bad' Ren? This guy is a Troubador for today.
it took me a few watches before the tears began to flow. the first few watches i was not really into it. it's not an easy flow song like money game part two
Some things You said are reminding me of the newest song by NF- MOTTO (I recommend You check it out)😉. This reaction was great. Thank You so much.😃
just a note to Jens's comment -- Brief Ren bio, for those who don't know: Ren contracted Lyme disease and an autoimmune deficiency -- was MISDIAGNOSED as bipolar -- prescribed psychotropic meds that actually FED his psychosis -- it all started when he was 17 -- he is still in treatment and has a GoFundMe account to help pay medical bills.....
Sweet couple - Dude i understand you... that girl is a rare gem... and you want to feel she is 'cured'... but instead why don't you just learn and lead her Dance when needed. I get you guys. The Eternal Dance is fine... understanding it "is the cure"
I'll never understand how people can believe they'll get the full music experience for great music with a single headphone in one ear. Missing out...
Curious why you guys only listen with single earpieces? Don't you miss how some music is mixed?
Did anyone tell u to read the comment section on HI Ren? He left a message there that explains a lot about him and this song. A must read to understand Ren. ...just a suggestion.
10:02 "Oh is that it?" => Supermassive facepalm XD
Anyone else got the impression that one of the two got the message more than he/she admitted later on?

Trust the strange man on the internet... you WANT TO do it!!!
It'll BLOW ya away... and make ya a true Fan of him!!!
He's Sooo unique... he's on his Own Level!!!!
PS... it's Nothing like this!
Too cool!
your girl was funny. she was like. it didnt hurt me enough. hurt me more
She should reciprocate more. Looks like you give more in the relationship. She's lucky to have you bro.
Welcome to the RENaissance. ❤
The cinematographer, Samuel Perry-Falvey, spoke about how the lighting is very intentional and that if you watch, you'll see that the shadow to the left is actually darker than the shadow on the right.
Ren❤❤❤❤❤
Cinemagraphic.
That was live and shot in 1 take
It's a testament to how great a performance and message this was that after 9 minutes, I had the same reaction of "Is that it? I want it to keep going"
Yayyy.. Ren!!
Hi both, send me a link to buy you 2 a headset that will help on reaction videos?
PS. J&S trilogy is even more theatrical. :)
Watch tale of Jenny and Screech
One reactor not entirely convinced I sense
I wonder if you ever get to your comments anymore, with so much going on. I actually must have watched and liked this a long time ago. But recently, I emailed you about this and ALSO The Tale of Jenny & Screetch (full official). You need to do that (if I didn't miss it in my search.)
So I watched alllllllll... the way thru your WoT reactions.
This guy can do no wrong. He's a genius! Thanks for your reactions 😊
Btw, you will lose subscribers if you don't react to the comments. People like Jens Randolff for example has left a must-read comment below and many others leave small tid-bits of info too and they appreciate it when the reactor(you) acknowledges it.
You have a pretty daughter, get her to react to Cruct by Ren and His ex girl Bibi
When a woman is happy to have you .. when u say your a winner cause you have her and she does not agree and just laughs.. you got a huge problem.. just trying to save u from heart break my dude ...
This comment section isn't it. Didn't know ren fans were so... intense
C’mon. Seriously? Dual reactors that don’t even have their own earpods is crazy. Even if you can’t afford 2 sets of AirPods, there are great earbuds out there for $10 for listening to music. Spend 10-15 bucks until you save enough for more Overpriced Airbuds.
She is stunning! Needs to model. Look after her bro. Great reaction ❤
Does she have any emotion she's like stone, won't be watching anything else
Don't talk over a song while it's playing .. pause it .. then speak.. it ruins the reactions. Just helpful criticism ..
Don't talk over lyrics!!!!!!!!!!, Find a gap to react.
