Michigan has looked like a better team than OSU this year in my opinion (they had no real trouble with Wisconsin or Penn State, they actually missed 3 field goals and still handled Wisconsin). Alabama still looks like a clear #1, though Michigan's offense has a few more weeks to pick up steam and their defense is probably the best in the nation.
That's a very accurate assessment yet fans of other teams do not want to give Michigan any credit because of the weak schedule we have played. My rebuttal is that we haven't had any close games/losses unlike Clemson, OSU, Louisville, etc... Michigan is playing at a high level and if Wilton Speight can take another step in his Quarterbacking, we are very capable of putting up a good fight against Alabama. Our defense is just as good and our running game is effective. We have depth on our defensive line so wearing us out with a power run attack is not going to happen. We have a top-5 secondary and an extremely athletic linebacker corps. Our issue is Speight. He has to be more accurate because in that type of game, he will have to be the difference. He is not there yet but he has time to grow.
