Swimming with my Finis Smart Goggles are great for time and strokes easy for interval /tempo training in open water ✅🏊‍♀️

Awesome. My Garmin can provide alerts when in open water. Those alerts could be a measure of distance or time etc. That way it is not necessary to be able to look at the watch as it will vibrate when the measure has been met. Thanks for the videos. I am training for an Olympic distance race in November.

I used form goggles with my apple watch (without in a pool). Its not perfect. It doesn't do structured workouts in open water (Yet!) probably because the GPS readings are not that great. They are good, not great.

I was asking myself why not swim in a pool if you need a precise distance information? 😉 I'd rather do some longer intervals in open water to be race specific. Besides counting strokes is probably quite error prone especially at higher intensitities which might affect your technique as well or due to the flow of the water. Instead I'd simply use Google Maps to measure some distance and then orient with some landmarks (from this tree to that stone or so). Next time you will know if you got faster on the same route.

Thanks for your comment. Counting strokes is just an estimate of course, but it can help add some structure for those who are prone to switching their mind off (me included! ).
