Yes, they did. Not all students fit your description. You're living in a dream world, social mobility has gotten worse. Something needs to be done.

No, you are wrong. If we take matters into our own hands we -can- enable change in the structure of society. People aren't demanding welfare, they are demanding fundamental changes to be made to financial/political systems. And what is the point in saving for a future if there is none?

The way to cure the problem is to get rid of the Music Industry instead of embracing it every minute. Until then, don't even talk to me.

Oh Europe how far you have fallen, why hasten your decline?

everybody wants a FREE handout ... austerity is cutting the growth of government, rarely does it reduce government

By that analogy, I actually meant the autonomy of individuals and teaching learned skills, rather than values. Yes, people do need to start thinking, but I completely disagree with the rest you say. Voting and Protesting is exactly how radical social change will occur, in fact, it is the only way.

to everyone else. who is this IMF, how can they have money to borrow out but every government in europe is struggling. where is the money coming from, and just look at the way they rip away your national pride and infrastructure when your country cant pay its loan off them back to you.

Well, I respect that you worked hard. Regardless, not everyone has the same opportunities. "Sell a man a fish, he eats for a day, teach a man how to fish, you ruin a wonderful business opportunity." - if we are spoilt (which we are) it is because we are not being taught how to fish for ourselves. When the fish runs out, look what happens. The governments and the banks don't care about people, education or the future.

i hear of people being put on a waiting list for jobs in europe. we don't have a waiting list. we have to make a full time "job" that we don't get paid for to go out and try to find a job. what is the % of college graduates in the younger gen of europeans and how does that compare to the older generations? in the usa, the % of young college graduates has been a very large increase and yet their ar fewer skilled white collar jobs here thus they are either unemployed or underemployed.

Eurofail. I'm glad to live in Norway. Whoever thought austerity was a good solution was fuckings nuts in their head. Greece should've defaulted on their loans and instituted only those changes that would've been necessary for a budget surplus. The solution they chose now has put southern Europe in ruin.

The centre-left social-democrats wanted Europe. These socialists are far-left, communists and socialists. They are two different ideologies altogether.
That's like saying "oh the right-wing supports Zionism, but they also hate Jews" when equating conservatism and Nazism because they both share a superficial similarity of being "right-wing." They are not the same.

what kind of taxes and fees do you have to do in order to start your own small business in these western european countries? does it vary from country to country or does the eu make the rules for that. do they make it hard with bullshit fees like they do in the usa? what dirty yet legal tricks do the bigger businesses do to crush you? they have all of these chain stores here in america that pay low wages. the big businesses keep getting bigger and the younger generation get poorer here.

So you would choose not to help those who are 'depressed, dumb and heavy n debt'. The reason why people are like that is because they have been enslaved by the economic and political system. You are lucky, think about all the other people on earth who are not.

Don't sweat it, Aeolistic. It's hard to break through a mindset trapped within the master/slave Matrix. The "masters" have done a great job at conditioning the debt slaves into believing that they must be slaves TO BE of value. This is the only reality that most of the unwittingly enslaved know. These souls just do not realize that this is but one version of many potentials. It takes time for some to evolve to a higher understanding of self and the collective - The System is the problem.
