    Hi Chandoo, really nice and helpful content!!! I have a question... As a consultant, I want to deliver dashboards to external clients, Which is the best option for that and how could I connect to their data, make a report, and then refresh it with new data on their own? (sorry that was 2 questions)

    Awesome video! Just a quick question, in premium per capacity license, is there some kind of user limit? Or can you give access to your analysis to as many free users as you want as long as you have the premium per capacity license?

    Hi Chandoo - This is super helpful...I am already using Power BI in my organization but a quick question for you - If I have a Premium license and share the report with others in the organization, will they be able to view the report with a free license or they will need higher license for that. I will embed live Power BI report in the PPT and share to the larger audience. Thanks again!

    • @chandoo_
      @chandoo_  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      This depends on what PREMIUM license you have. In most cases, all the "viewers" also need a license (usually either PRO or PREMIUM). But certain onprem plans or per capacity plans allow for a number of free users. I suggest talking to your office 365 admin for a better understanding on this.

    Hi Chandoo, I am loving your content. I have a Microsoft 365 E1 subscription and I was considering upgrading to an E3 simply because I love Excel and the E3 says it has advanced Excel analytics features like Power Query and Power Pivot. I don't know what the difference between them and the already available ones I have.
    Would it be of any benefit to upgrade instead to the E5 which includes Power BI pro?
    I am the only one using this plans, because of Excel as I said and OneDrive has 5Tb all for me.

    • @chandoo_
      @chandoo_  ปีที่แล้ว +2

      If you just want Power BI alone, you can also directly include Power BI Pro or Premium into your existing office subscription. In most cases E3 is sufficient but again both E3 & E5 have so many other extra software and features that may never get used.
      Note that standalone Excel (even Excel 2016) has Power Pivot & Power Query by default (any version above student). So you don't need anything more if you just care about those two.

      @@chandoo_ Thank you so much for your reply! I was able to get a Microsoft 365 E5 Developer and it includes all the same things a MS E5 do except for phone support, and best of all, free.

    I am working in a company (around 200 employee size) and I am the only person who has power BI pro license and when I publish and link the power BI report to share point. I want all other 199 employees who do not have power BI Pro license should just view the power BI report data. Is that possible ?

      In this case, everyone in the org. needs a pro license to view what you build. You can contact the Microsoft licensing rep to see how to get this bundled with rest of your office etc. subscriptions.

    Hi Chandoo, I'm reaching out today with a query regarding Power BI licenses. Our organization has a specific requirement where one person will be assigned either a Power BI Pro or Power BI Premium license, while all other users will be assigned Microsoft Fabric Free licenses.
    I am aware that only power BI pro license user can share report with other power Bi pro license holder.
    The key question is whether the person with a Power BI Pro or Power BI Premium license can share reports with users who have Microsoft Fabric Free licenses. I would greatly appreciate your assistance in determining which licensing arrangement would be most suitable for our company's requirements.
    Thank you for your help.

    • @chandoo_

    I am migarting from tableau to power BI.
    what is the equivalent of tableau public in Power BI ?
    If I take Power BI Pro, can i disable some security setting and make dashboard available to view outside of organization.
    Tableau public helps when interviewer asks show me some of your projects. But in Power BI there is nothing like that.

    • @sanketchavan8
      @sanketchavan8 11 หลายเดือนก่อน

      I just remember we have chatgpt..so below is reply from our bro chatgpt
      Power BI offers a variety of options for sharing content, although there isn't a direct equivalent to Tableau Public. Here are some options:
      1. **Power BI Publish to Web:** This feature allows you to share a Power BI report with others on the internet. This is similar to Tableau Public. You create your report and then create a public web link that can be viewed by anyone on the internet without requiring a license. However, please note that this option does not have the same security and privacy settings as the regular Power BI service - once a report is published to the web, anyone with the link can access it.
      2. **Power BI Embedded:** This is a more advanced option where you can embed Power BI reports, dashboards, and other content into an app or website. This is a more complex solution and typically requires some development skills.
      3. **Power BI Apps:** Power BI apps are a way to package up a collection of dashboards and reports and publish them to users in your organization. This is not as public as Tableau Public, but can be a good way to share content with a large number of people.
      With regards to your second question, Power BI Pro does allow sharing reports and dashboards outside of your organization, but you need to be careful with this. You can share with external users by sending them a direct invite, but these users would also need a Power BI Pro license to view the content.
      However, you can disable some security settings to allow content to be viewed more publicly, such as using the "Publish to Web" option mentioned above. Be sure to review Microsoft's documentation and guidelines on this to ensure you are not inadvertently exposing sensitive data.
      For interview purposes, the "Publish to Web" feature is probably the best option to showcase your work similar to Tableau Public. Please remember that any data you share this way should be data that you have permission to share and is not sensitive or private.

    • @chandoo_
      @chandoo_  11 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Yes, disabling the security / privacy option and sharing it is equivalent to Tableau Public. There are no data limits too.

    Hi Chandoo. Handy video, thank you.
    However, I have a question.
    I have a PRO account as a developer of the dashboard.
    Two users in my hospital have Free licenses. They successfully accessed the dashboard I published on the PowerBI service workspace.
    A few days ago, after I publish a new version, they couldn't access it anymore.
    Here is the error message: 'Upgrade to Power BI Pro. To use Power BI Pro features, upgrade to a Pro license.'
    I have no idea about these features. I added a couple of simple visuals, and that's it.
    Can anyone please advise?

    • @chandoo_
      @chandoo_  ปีที่แล้ว

      You do need pro / premium accounts to share and publish content. Your company might already have PRO access for everyone. Talk to IT / office 365 admin and they can figure out what to do.

Thank you

    • @chandoo_

      I am not a licensing expert, but my understanding is you need 53 pro licenses at the least. Your developers may want to have premium license if they want to do some advanced stuff. Do check with your IT admin or Microsoft liaison if you are not sure.
