I'm SF-adjacent, so while I don't actually live in the city, I'm there a fair amount. This past week, on both a Wednesday and Thursday, I noticed considerably more actual people than even just a couple of months ago. Almost every building I passed seemed empty, and the majority of the businesses in downtown are gone. The new transit center was completely empty. I can't imagine it's going to return to pre-Covid levels any time in the foreseeable future. On a purely selfish note, it's WAY easier to get around with so few people, and my favorite takeout place in the Ferry Building isn't always sold out by the time I get there : )

Likewise! I go to the city perhaps 2-3 times a week to run some errands, and have been showing my parents around. Like you mentioned, there are pockets of area that is empty..not sure about you, but it's a bit eery for me sometimes hahah! but the short lines are great

I'm not from the US, but I do come across articles and content talking San Francisco being one of the more ridiculously expensive places there to live in.

It's high rent, cost of tipping, and inflation. My friends have been considering other areas like Montana, Arizona, or back to Los Angeles.

On this flip side, which cities have you personally noticed busier and more foot traffic?

Good q ~ I haven't been traveling that much recently, but have heard the mass exodus from SF to NY was pretty crazy. A lot of friends moved to South Bay and Los Angeles, while many are considering Canada. This is all just personal experiences though
