Carchaeology: Barn Find 70 Coronet R/T Inspection

- Randy and Mike clean out and inspect the 1970 Dodge Coronet R/T 440 Six Pack 4 Speed barn find from the Arizona muscle car stash. Is it the real deal? Do the numbers match? Will they find the elusive broadcast sheet?

I'm not one who is normally squeamish about such things, but I think I would have wimped out and gone with gloves and a mask for that particular carchaelogical dig. Nice to see you found a solid car under all of that sh... I mean, droppings.
I rarely shy away from that stuff, but this one was getting to me. Thank God it wasnt damp and sticky!

The 70, was my favorite B body. I love the front bumper design. I seen one once with the front bumper painted to match the body color. I don't think they made a factory flex bumper, like on the Cuda, but I could be wrong. Either way, this car is cool!
Nope, The Coronet R/T never got the Elastomeric front bumper. Only '70 and '71 E body cars got that as an option.

@@rickhenson660 No problem! I am not aware of any '70 and older B body that came with the rubber bumper option. I think it was available in 1971 only for the GTX and Road Runner platform.

I would be interested in the 340 6 pak if it is going to be sold separately. Would top off the little red express nicely. If I would have known that that iron was going to turn into gold. I had a nice 69 Hemi Charger, AAR cuda,70 440 6 pack Cuda Michigan rust, 70 Super Bee rusty, 70 340 4bbl.auto Valiant Duster VERY FAST!!! $100.beater, $10,000 worth of fun! and others. sorry for rambling.

@@Carchaeology I've wanted one since I learned to drive in 1980. Wish I could afford to visit and see it.
Mark there is a channel on TH-cam here called Nick's Garage if you don't know about him & he specializes in Mopar mostly but works on anything old & has a charger 500 that they are going to restore so look it up ! He also builds engines & has his own engine Dyno to break them in & test & tune with & just built a 440 stroked to 493 cubes that a guy wants for his 65 Plymouth Fury 4speed car & the engine is a pump gas engine that he just dynoed & it made 615 HP & over 650ft lbs of torque at 4,400 rpms & was saying it actually needs a bigger carburetor on it than his race prepped Demon 750 & figured it might make a few more HP with it but didn't have a bigger carb to put on to see if it would or not. My first car was almost a 70 lime green & black interior & top Super bee convertible but my father didn't seem to want me to buy it which I still regret to this day but the first car ended up being a 66 Chevelle SS396 so I still had some fun & ended up buying 2 more of them 1 a convertible in the later years then the black one I had I put a 70 454 LS6 with a solid lifter cam an Edelbrock XC-96 2x4 cross ram with a dual point ignition & some hooker super comp big tube headers backed by a Muncie close ratio 4 speed with a verticlegate shifter & 4:10 12 bolt posa trac rear with ladder bars so even though I missed out on that Super bee I still had a lot of fun in those cars & I wish I still had to this day but as time went on I had to sell unfortunately & with the current prices these cars get I can't afford one unless I either sell my house or use my mortgage as collateral to get a loan for one now that the house is paid off but at these insane prices I will be dead & gone by the time it's paid off lol !

Take picture's of the rear ends or try to wipe the VIN numbers a little cleaner, I know you want to preserve the find look but if you can try to break down the numbers and letters and do close ups when you can. This will really improve your content and make your videos far superior to the others! The background and history of the owner's are always fantastic too.Your channel will blow up! You are kicking butt sir and taking names. I can't wait for your next find!👍
Aldo thanks so much! It’s all a work in progress. For years as I’ve done this stuff I have wished there was a camera to record it and share it with others. Finally I just said screw it and whipped out the phone to do it myself. If people want more details, I’ll go there for sure!

Must of been a Arizona car all it's life but that car is cool my favorite is a 1970 Superbee yellow with the white interior but a Coronet R/T green with the white interior and the 440 6 pack is super bitchin' too what a score

So cool a once in a lifetime kinda find no way would I do anything to these cars besides get them up and running maybe do the interior patina is perfect
I had 4 brothers and we lived about 3 hrs from Atlanta Ga had a cousin who worked for Chrysler in Atlanta he would come home once or twice a month so we all drove Mopar I had a 69 GTX 440 4 speed brother had a 69 Coronet RT 440 auto then a 70 Dodge Dart Swinger 340 auto another brother had a 69 Roadrunner 383 4 speed cousin had a 68 Roadrunner 383 auto another a 67 GTX convertible 383 auto another had a 67 Satellite 426 hemi auto in the 60s and early 70s mopar ruled o yeah I got married in 77 after that had a 71 Cuda 383 auto we just hot rodded them to hell and back
That’s an amazing list of rides in the family driveway! So many of them were hot rodded and flogged mercilessly in those days. Nobody knew then what the values would be today!
@@Carchaeology yeah I dont know if you'll see this but I just saw yuh our reply work for a guy who has a 69 z28 Camaro and a69 nova SS 396 4 speed car that both have been off the frame restored and have won every show you can imagine he loves his chevys and they're all ok but I've always been a mopar man if we had known what we had back in the day maybe we would have taken better care of them my wife and I have raised our two sons then the oldest started having kids and wouldn't do right so we have raised 4 of his 2 are grown 1 married one a freshman in college the third is a senior in high school and the youngest is 8 years old so I've been busy raising kids and never had the means or the time to pursue anything like that but I wouldn't have it any other way so I look at this stuff a lot sorry about the long message I just like your channel and you seem like a real genuine down to earth guy
vestesl south There really are some amazing car stashes out there in the world. I’m in the same boat in that I’ve never been able to build a collection as my focus has been on building family. I get my car fix through my work and it’s super fun, but I sure wish I had the money and the space to keep em all for myself!

That 440 Six Pak manifold is painted Chrysler Corporate Blue. I believe that is for a 1972 (or a late 71, perhaps) 440. That's if it's original paint.

I also have an original unrestored Sublime 70 R/T Coronet & the only thing missing is the rear valance panel. Are the extra parts going to be sold with the car or can I buy that spare valance?? I have Mopar stuff to trade if that's an option!

Yes, they are all for sale. We have been getting a lot of very good private offers on particular cars and are considering what to do. Maybe auction...maybe not.

Michael Adamo we have some good offers on the Coronet and the Challenger that we are considering. The 440 RT 69 Charger we have not inspected yet but it’s probably a mid to high 20’s car value wise.
