I'm there with you. I realized too at the end of the day, it's me and the wife mostly utilizing the man cave arcade. There's no need to have it decked out like a Circus arcade with every available genre. Just keeping the most played cabs and calling it a day.
I too sold off a bit of my collection, 6 cabinets or so, at the end of the year. It’s actually really refreshing to have a blank slate to work with. I’ve also found many a times that it’s far more enjoyable having more space in the arcade rather than having everything jammed tight.
As a long time arcade collector I can share this. Everything has it's time. When I sold my arcades 10 years ago, I kept my SF2 Hyper Fighting as that cabinet will be with me until I die. I may actually be buried in it lol. I started collecting 2 years ago, ran up the collection to 23 games and just about sold all but 4 and yes, my SF2 once again stays with me. At some point you are bang in Fox, keep what means the most to you, free up some space for other things. It's the best of both worlds. I have no regrets on selling my games. It was nice to look at them, but when you lose an entire basement to something that sits and collects dust, it just doesn't make sense. Always enjoyed your content Fox and I still say, your wood working skills are second to none my friend.
This is my line of thinking. I have limited space, so I'm selling off my Arcade1ups to make room for a custom made arcade that will play everything they can and much more.
It’s tough to let stuff go. Especially things you put a lot of effort into. I’d love something like the GT cabinet. I just want one to sit higher so it looks more natural next to the full sized midway racing machines I have.
I can totally sympathize with having to keep things to a maximum size... In my last house I had a dedicated retro game room (consoles & games, not yet arcades) and thousands of physical media. In the new home I have a large room, but it has to be shared with home theater, retro games, and now my new(ish) arcade hobby... I sold off quite a lot of physical games (but have many multi-carts to make up the difference), and have to keep the backwall for arcades (can fit about 10 arcades and a vpin). I also have a loft space I'm trying to keep for movie/pop-culture displayables, shelf of board games, and my recessed game table and a snack bar. It's really tempting to stick a machine or two out there too, but after that where does it end? If more than 1 new cab comes out this year I want, one will have to move out! Appreciate the video, and good vibes on a quick sale!
I decided to sell my XL NBA Jam and also my Blitz cab. Thought they both would be a huge hit in my arcade but they don't get touched. Going to clear up the space and recycle the money into future projects.
What's nice about these kinds of projects is that if you are careful about where you put the money and what you're asking to get out of it, you can chalk up losses to being a rental fee for the fun time you had with them.
Quality video as always . Love the perspective of new and better cabinets coming into the arcade. Look forward to the future cabinets and projects that you introduce that cause the FOMO. Good luck with the sales.
I have my Gen 1 Galaga that I modded the hell out of: Szabos marquee, arcade1up marquee light box, KI overhead stereo speakers, tilted monitor back, Sanwa joystick, leaf switch buttons, light up coin door, aftermarket graphics… etc. I put at least $400 into it and then I got the Deluxe. I still have it though and can’t bring myself to sell it because I am proud of the work I put into it making it something really special.
I had a question. I have nba jam shaq and did the monitor swap. I noticed when playing the screen would dim every once in awhile which was no big deal. Today I started it up and now everything turns on except screen is black and music plays. Any idea
Hi 19kfox I just sold my entire collection. Instant regret. Got an amount I am happy with. I will possibly buy more cabs in the future.love your channel. Keep up the amazing content. I enjoy watching your channel. Reminds me of my glory days. You rock fox
So hard to get rid of cabs Especially stuff you worked on but it helps if your buying better new stuff I had a big high end pool table n we had ping pong on top In my garage now Miss the ping pong That’s a good idea Super fun For a family I wanted one of those basketball set ups as well Looking forward to seeing the new stuff
All these "gamers" who have channels on TH-cam seem to do the same thing, 1) buy cabs, 2) talk about cabs they bought and then 3) sell all their cabs. Wash, since and repeat. Nothing wrong with that, but if I was a doctor would I consider it to be some kind of obsession? I don't know what do you think?
All different fandoms I know have a large percentage that do this regardless of if they are TH-camrs or not. Be it cars, action figures, custom gaming desktop setups … for many it’s part of the actual fun to experience a lot of different elements within their fandom, not to just accumulate and some who can’t “fleet manage” their items risk becoming more akin to hordes than enthusiasts or collectors.
Awe man. I had dibs on The AVP shell 😂 I’m closing on a new house in KY and will be finishing a walk out basement - inspired by you. Keeping all the cabs for now though…
Hey 19K Fox I feel u on making room for new stuff I already sold 3 of my arcade1up's focusing on new multicades and a pool table or hockey table u doing the right choice buddy
So many people in the community downsizing their arcades. Primarily because they are moving. Is this due to finances? Needing a cheaper place or are some of us getting nagged into down sizing by our significant others? I’m lucky that for now I abbr an extremely large finished basement dedicated for it. My arcade is going to GROW! I might swap some around but it will be for better cabs in addition to volume. I wish everybody luck with their arcade builds. At the end of the day it has to make you happy.
Dang!! I saw some of your postings on Marketplace!! But I also have started to sell off some of my 20 cabs. I got about half of them on Marketplace currently. I had fun collecting them, some modding or just scoring that amazing deal. It's cool, tho. I can play those games on the multicade. It's just time to change it up and funnel that money onto something else...4k Pinball
Growth is pain and change is loss. No way around it, but doesn't mean it's a bad thing. If I had the room and money, X-men would be mine in a second. Keep rockin brother
I do not see the point of a bunch of cabs crammed together anyway. If can't space a foot between each to appreciate the artwork, just have a good multitude set-up, VP pinball and Light Gun rig. I did that to avoid a wife rebellion.
All that work and then sell it...selling the non premium. I always think you man cave look like an office space. You should open up the roof in stead of using those 90s roof tile.
I clicked on this video expecting it to be about it’s time for Arcade1up to sell the company and it’s time to sell off your cabinets while they still have some demand/resale value left.
I disagree with 19k fox sell off his cabs.. If he changes his agenda for his channel, it is one thing, but don't be Mike B and do a total fire sale of all his arcade1up's !

From what I see the market in my area (Atlanta) is still a very high demand region for all types of arcade units from original to custom to 1ups to MyArcade on the secondary market places … that may be a regional thing here though

I’ve been doing the same thing here. Already built 4 custom cabs and gonna build Pac-Man next to replace A1up pacman
Bro, you're parting with that SICK X-Men cab? Wow.
It’s tough but it’s time.

So sorry for your loss😢. Wish you lived closer. I’m about ready to buy that Shaq jam. Waiting for the price to get ridiculously low though first.
Really got me thinking about what’s in my collection. Very much looking forward to what your final picks are!!
