7:18 When a TNT explodes it shoots out a bunch of rays in every direction, depending on how many rays hit you is how much damage you take. That means when a TNT is bigger the game doesn't actually make a bigger explosion, it simply extends the rays and the damage it does to surrounding blocks and players.
i think The Explotions Look like that becurse it gets calculated in lines and the lines dont grow so thats why it looks wierd.
When the TNT explodes, it makes a lot of rays and removes blocks where the rays intersect with a block. But when the size of the explosion is increased, the ray amount doesn't increase, so the gaps are the spaces in between the rays.
@@Ne_Eo Nice explanation. :)
@@Ne_Eo It doesn't remove them, it replaces them with air. Might sound like a nitpick, but that means you can change it so that TNT replaces the blocks with another block.
@Gum Skyloard I said it that way for more people to understand. When the explosion happens it collects all the blocks it should replace, the ray stops if the blast resistance is higher than the explosion strength, then when all the rays have finished, the code uses "world.setBlockState" to replace the block with air.
@@GumSkyloard this is basically what some tnt mods did

The reason the explosion has odd patterns when it's big is because explosions create a bunch of raycasts to determine damage/destruction

So if the TNT and fire charge damages scale, so would the arrow’s damage?
I dont think so, fireballs and tnt were made to create bigger explosions with custom values, but arrows dont variate in damage because explosions are calculated differently.
@@stoobidthing Arrows have a damage value too. If TNT damage can be scaled up so can the arrow damage as there is nothing to stop them. Maybe this applies to mobs too. I mean why just TNT and firecharges and why not the rest of entities? If these devs are smart enough to figure out non-Euclidean geometry in Minecraft, why not the damage scale (which makes sense) for entities that go through it? It just makes sense.

the reason the big that makes that pattern when you explode it because it decides which blocks it blows up based off of raycast which is essentially lines going outward from the center of the tnt. since the tnt has a very high blast power and radios, at the outskirts of the explosion the rays are further apart and so they create those lines when they explode the blocks in their path. so essentially to make a big explosion that looks normal you would need a lot more rays to cover the explosion radius since they are spread out over a larger area. i hope that explanation makes sense
I wanna see the wither as a giant. That would be cool and scary. As well as a tiny baby wither.

The big TNT explosions make those weird line patterns because of the maths behind how the explosion damage is calculated.
Basically the game draws a bunch of lines out in regular intervals from the centre of the TNT. This is fine at low explosion values, because the lines are dense enough that it will hit basically all the blocks in a 10*10*10 radius. But at really high values, when it's damaging block 100m away, the lines are spread out and there's gaps of no damage in between.

7:20 explosions in Minecraft work by having the explosive (eg. tnt, or beds in the nether/end) stick out a multitude of lines in every direction and delete the blocks or hurt the player when the player gets hit. That’s one reason they hide behind blocks when they blow up the beds. The block blocks the line from hitting the player.
I wanna see a command block mine cart but when it hits the ground it expels thousands of pieces of TNT
I think any entity that isn’t a falling block can be resized which is really cool. Pehkui + Immersive Portals is such an amazing mod combo.
the fact that he never used an arrow
wdym
Explosions are calculated with lines called rays / raycasts, these are shot out from the center of the tnt to see what to explode. Normally there's enough to make it look like a circle, but when the explode big boom, you can see the pattern.
Imagine this, but with other mods with big mobs like Mobzilla or mutant creatures.
The algorithm must love your channel
Hey, maybe try connecting rails through the vertical/horizontal portals and then moving a minecart through them. Even if the rails don't connect, the cart should go to the other side and attach to the rails there
If you are wondering why the TNT makes that pattern, it’s because of the way the game handles explosions. When an explosion occurs, the game sends a bunch of rays out, each one weakening with each block it collides with. I’m not sure exactly how the weakening system works but the pattern is caused by the rays being limited in the amount that can be there.
I've been here seen around 3.03k lol now he's at 8k already
The TNT explosion work like just a bunch of lines coming from the center of the TNT so it creates those line patterns where the most lines are most at, the more blocks in its way with more durability the less the line lasts
please keep using mario galaxy music, sometimes i keep watching just because of it lol
7:20 the reason this happens is because the explosion casts rays in every direction and deletes blocks in the colliding parts of the rays, also the further the rays go the lower of a chance they have to destroy a block.
“We’re almost at 8k subscribers”
sub count:
we need 9 dislikes
@@Youcantguess1218 why?
explosions in minecraft basically work by casting a bunch of individual rays that can destroy a specific amount of block. scaling up the power of a blast without increasing the number of cast rays leads to artifacts
The fireball thing would be really cool for a minigame or an apocalypse survival server where most of the players are on a map and somebody launches these like meteors to try to kill them
Large tnt explosions cause the grated effect that you observed because explosions in game are rendered by an array of rays originating from the explosion moving in all directions, normally you can't notice this because there are too many, however sizing the tnt up seems to have expanded the bomb far enough so that the individual rays are visible.
make an bubble elevator and throw the ender pearl inside it so we could see the size of the ender pearl
theomonty Okay so basically the way that TNT explosions work is that the game shoots out a ray from the TNT to surrounding blocks. Those rays dictate what will be destroyed. So normal TNT does that but we can’t see all the lines because they’re so close to the block.
When you scale the block up to like 50 what it does it is increases the TNT’s explosive power to the point where those rays are longer and are farther apart from each other. That why you get the weird pattern when you made the TNT blow up at scale 50.
You should make a roller coaster but your. Constantly being put through portals changing your size on the track to fit in big tunnels or small tunnels.
Just found your channel, 10/10 content, hope the algorithm blesses you
Alright, so you were wondering why the big tnt made that weird pattern.
When something explodes in minecraft, it sends out a lot of rays in different directions, each ray breaking blocks they touch. At a small scale there are enough rays to where you can't tell they are rays. Scaling the explosion doesn't change the amount of rays, it just changes how far they go. That's why you get that weird pattern when big explosions happen.
For those wondering why it isn't just a radius of blocks that get destroyed, the rays are important for simulating different explosion resistances in different directions. If you exploded a tnt with a wall of stone on one side, and a wall of dirt on the other, you'd expect more destruction on the dirt wall. This is only possible eith rays.
Big explosions don't really occur naturally in minecraft, so the amount of rays is a set value rather than a variable depending on the explosion size. It also helps with lag, as simulating too many rays would just lag the game out a lot
Good editing AND great quality mic?
Remember me when you hit 500k
The explosions are created by casting rays from the center of the exploding entity. Although the radius of the rays seems to scale with the entity, the spread of them does not - hence the weird pattern.
Small tip: if you write /summon tnt ~ ~ ~ {Fuse: 1000} you get an tntn that takes 1000 ticks to explode, so you have more tine to set the scale.
The reason the tnt makes that pattern is because of how it works the tnt shoots out rays that go a certain distance and that determines what blocks get destroyed and how much damage you take (the amount of rays you are hit by)
The fact the glitchiest part of the vid happened to delphino island was so fitting.

The armorstand with a sword going into ground huge would look so good in a castle build
I just had an amazing game idea. So its basically like a board game and theres settlements you can attack and you can make a bunch of fortifications. So you make one of the resizing portals and its cool
That tnt explosion take my back to the old tnt mods.
Nice vid dude!
the way explosions works are lines coming from the center. some calculations are made to see which blocks break. when you made the tnt bigger, this entire shape was larger and the lines were also more inaccurate because you expanded the space between them. i think it’d be much clearer if you did it in a normal world like in a cave or something? it would show a similar pattern. not sure if what i said made sense
Imagine the villagers local news just like “two rings discovered over the village explosions have now been heard out side we advise you to to stay inside”

That tnt cart landing on the rails was cute in some weird way
Your sense of humor is great
7:20 the weird effect happens cause tnt sends out a ton of rays from its origin creating those "stripes" of destroyed blocks
Great channel man. It’s hard to believe you have 8k subs cause your content seems very professional and well done 👌👌
NOW THIS IS CONTENT!
A rollercoaster made with this mod would be really cool.
I was originally going to suggest a nuke cannon, but bug TNT works weird. Instead, let’s see how it works in a TNT cannon! Can we shoot explosives at hypersonic speed?
The second thing I wanted to see was, since you got in a minecart far larger than you, try getting in one far smaller.
That sunshine music brings back some good memories
Shoot the arrow through the small portal therefore making it bigger, but then where the small portal leads to is a portal making it bigger and so on so on sizing the arrow for a long time until BAM it's super big
If Little Tiles or Chisel & Bits are on the same version, you could try mixing them with this, and see if the small entities can interact with the small blocks.
Smol armor stands would make great paired with the chisled bits mod for smol doll houses
Try and put a fishing rod through it, I honestly wanna see if the other part of the fishing rod gets large.
Does anyone else feel like this mod could make a great magic style survival series/ faction with others. You could set up the box views on people’s bases and I would be like a crystal ball of sorts.
You really should make an infinity loop with one portal on another but only slightly bigger
He did so in a previous video iirc
Try putting wetter through the portal
ideas: wither shooting skulls, shulker shooting whatever it shoots, throwing tridents, and fishing rods!
A cool thing to see would be running water flowing through the portal or lava how would it look, or try getting a sticky piston to push blocks through the portal... OR try somthing like a flying machine. OR try some of Minecraft old glitches.
Can you make, idk how to explain it. Like a chain, so you shoot and arrow through a portal, gets bigger, goes through another portal to get bigger, etc. What's the longest line/chain of those can you do? Great video btw
Flying machine in Non-Euclidean Minecraft
Imagine placing a small one wherever, and then placing a HUGE one on top of a friend's base. Put TNT through the small one, and watch then world burn.
This combined with the chisel and bits mod would be sick
