Tom, the phrase "Winner winner chicken dinner" is not a new hip phrase by any stretch of the imagination. The phrase started in the 1950's, in Las Vegas. The last time the phrase was "hip" was way before you were born.
“Winner winner chicken dinner” is not a new phrase.... i think it’s from the 70s ish but it is regional... more of a west thing than an East thing. It was in a handful of 80s movie if I recall correctly.

it's a "new hip phrase" because of the video game PUBG. When you win, that is what is displayed on screen, and that game is insanely popular.
I recall hearing it all the way back in the 80's myself.
