The whole band is nuts, from the Clays (drummer and bassist) to Tim and Scott (lead guitarists) they are all world class. In the same vein you should watch Playing God Unplugged, with Tim playing just by himself. The camera is focused on his hands the entire time. The guy is like on level 10000 on his instrument, he makes it look so easy...he is so in the flow state. Its so incredible. Tim is without question one of the most influential virtuoso guitarists of this generation and will go down as one of the greats of all time. He's already know for his unique sound and monster skills on guitar. But I think its his unique composing style that has already been called out by Steve Vai and Joe Satriani that will be remembered. He's like the Paganini of guitar not using a single technique but mixing them like colors that he can use to paint his creations. He's not held back by convention. His mind, they way he approaches composition is just different. Just watch any of his making of videos. I've not seen any other artist approach making music they way that Tim does. Its really interesting. Keep reacting, check out the rest of Polyphia's catalog, so much music...so many styles....remember if something doesn't float your boat....try something else....they are always experimenting. Playing God is from there most recent album, but I would suggest you check out G.O.A.T, O.D, Chimera(Playthrough), Neurotica (Band Playthrough), Ego Death (fea. Steve Vai), The Audacity. Tim has also said he is working on as solo album to keep an eye out for that!!!
if those are your words you should consider becoming some sort of critic or something like that. You write very well. So well, it kinda looks like AI. lmao
Please do more of their songs!! Definitely check out the play throughs!!! They even do a first persons perspective from top down of the guitar playing!
Nice video and happy to hear a musician's thoughts on some of the stuff the band as a whole are doing. Keep up the good work and more Polyphia reactions incoming!
To really get a sense of how good the entire band is, watch the Neurotica Full Band Playthrough. Recorded in Tim's home studio. And I highly recommend their older, lesser known stuff. I personally love "Yas", Goose, OD, and 40oz
Good reaction, I too dislike too many pauses in a reaction but honestly you talked through like some of the best parts and it seemed like they kind of went by without you hearing it all. So I’d say pause if you need to talk. Even though pauses aren’t great, they’re better than talking over everything, in my opinion.
In my opinion there is a difference between reaction and commentary. You don't need to pause for the first one, we can see how you react to the music. Keep the talking for afterwards and lets just watch a music video together, we can talk after.
Hello, Justin! Thank you for your very enjoyable and informative reaction to the mind-blowing Polyphia :) Since you’re interested in great guitar players (like the virtuosos Tim Henson and Marcin), I’d like to suggest something from Brazil for a possible future reaction/analysis: the instrumental composition 'Samba Pro Rapha' by Yamandu Costa (he is one of our greatest current musicians - he plays a 7-string acoustic guitar - and he created this outstanding song to pay homage to Raphael Rabello, who is considered one of all-time best Brazilian classical guitarists). I hope to see more interesting things from you and wish you lots of success! Greetings from Brazil✌
If you want to talk maybe consider pausing. No one cares if you pause as long as you rewind 10 seconds or so. What people do care about is you talking over the video. You're missing the music because you're too busy yapping. Someone with a history in music should understand that. Not trying to hate or anything, just providing feedback.
Watch Tim's play through video. You get to see all the magic.
110% AGREED🔥🔥🔥
If you haven’t seen it, Tim did a collab with Marcin called classical dragon. Absolutely fire
