There is a pretty easy way to cheese this boss: When walking into the boss arena, you are standing inside of a puddle that has a slightly lower elevation. If you duck in this puddle, (nearly) all spike attacks miss you. However, you may not take any action while the spikes are flying above your head (so no aiming down sights, mod use etc..). So you can just be there crouched, neutral dodge any melee attack, shoot at him constantly, and just pause your actions when spikes are flying over you. The only time you need to move is when it does an attack with the elevated set of spikes. Then you can just roll directly infront of him, where you are safe from this attack. Care however, because after the upper spike attack he will always follow up with a melee swipe so be ready for that. Once you got the consistency of this fight down it won't be a problem to do a no hit run, also on apocalypse.
Literally the best guide I can find for this boss and yet received almost no views. Such a shame. Great work on a thorough guide showing all attack iterations and mechanics!
Nice tutorial. I knew the main mechanics since I had played this game before a while back but I actually never knew spikes would shoot out due to standing too close to the wall. After hearing that my next run was relatively easy. Thanks!
Truthfully, I must disagree. I can certainly understand that perspective, but this boss' main problem is his ridiculous HP and damage. If one of these factors were reduced, I would consider him a very good boss. He is by far one of the most enjoyable fights in my opinion.

This one has been tearing me apart for about an hour now
"this strat is boring, and I hate it."
Me: has made multiple videos using that strat to demo builds
Love this channel, new favorite
Also thanks for the tutorial!
Good shit :D
Nice!
This boss sucks.
End of discussion.
