try running some old servers - look for one that wipes monthly and is a few weeks in. you can easily get decayed base loot or exploit shops - you will feel less attached to this loot, be more comfortable with losing it, and thusly take more gunfights, helping you understand how to play once you get them when you inevitably try joining on a wipe day and starting from there.
